      In today’s day and age some people would actually say that that is possible and if you disagree with them they would cancel you and call you some word with phobic at the end.

    Rabbit hole of YT workbench videos...ABSOLUTELY! I'm currently lost down that very same hole but your video is helping me (so far) crawl back out of that hole. I really appreciate the "list of must haves" and overall realistic approach to your design based on entirely on your honest assessment of what type of woodworking you actually do. Making forward progress out of that hole is much easier when you say to yourself, "Hey, this is what I do" and avoid getting caught up in, "Hey, someday I might want to do this thing."

      Wow, this is a great comment, exactly what I was hoping to hear from the viewers where we are all facing the same challenges and trying to navigate this great hobby and recognizing that people progress at their own pace. Glad to hear that you got something from the watch. Thanks for watching!

    I had a thick piece of plastic lying around that I used for my last bench and it held up great against all the abuse. Laminate flooring is pure genius! I’m getting ready to build my next one and you gave me some ideas. Thanks for posting this.

    i really like your style of drawer fronts. nothing wrong with putting time into making the bench look good! Several months back, I made a 3'x7' bench that's still open underneath, trying to figure out what to do with the space. I like that you left room for some artwork as well, I may incorporate something similar! Great work and thanks for making a video to show it all!

    Creative and meticulous workbench build. The top surface seems pretty clever. I’ve used 1/8” hardboard and it’s pretty cheap and replaceable. I look forward to an update to show the bench in use and any revisions or things you love about it.

    • @vanishingcabinets
      @vanishingcabinets  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh yea hardboard even more inexpensive I would think. Not a bad idea. Yep for sure, see what this thing looks like in 6 months, may have to tweak some things.

    I'd be willing to try that top. I would still have used 3/4" plywood and then the flooring. I absolutely hate mdf. I also would have put the black handles of the drawers on the maple for the contrast. Other than that, I find this to be a great build. Great job...

    This video showed up on my screen and I thought I’d watch as I looking for ideas for a table like this for my Metabo table saw. A couple points for you. 1. This is a great build, but don’t apologize or care if people come down on you for making your shop enjoyable and beautiful to be in. I do the same in my 12’x20’ shed shop. 2. Don’t beat yourself up by being hard on yourself for making mistakes as you would not be a woodworker if you didn’t make mistakes because you sat back, realize what you did wrong and fix it and this is what a good worker does. 3. You asked what I would like in a table like this, and I want to make a sliding extension for cross cuts. And 4. Myself being a 40 year experience cabinet and furniture maker, I honestly like your work and thought process that went into this. I would like to learn sketchup so I can create designs on my laptop, but I am intimidated by learning a design program. Would you sell the sketchup file, so I can look at it and kind of dissect it to learn process. And lastly, I am now a new subscriber to your channel. Can’t wait to see what’s next. Oh, sorry , I forgot to also mention, that I love the fact that you use affordable tools as, while I do have some expensive tools, like the very same Festool extractor and sander, I also have Rey reasonably inexpensive tools like 2 Wen sanders(ordering 12” Wen disc sander soon, and Wen track saw which I would put up against your Makita any day. Sorry for the long post, but I am excited for your continued growth and what’s next

    • @vanishingcabinets
      @vanishingcabinets  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you Steve for the thoughtful comments here. I do feel that I will grow in confidence as I get more experience, but really validating to hear positive feedback from an experienced woodworker like yourself. Man I would love to have a sliding extension, seems like a tough component though to actually build. As far as sketchup, honestly, I have also found that quite intimidating and yes it has taken some time to put together some basic designs. I'm using the free version so unfortunately I can't export anything at the moment, but I plan on putting more time into this as well to keep me organized in my builds in the future, and also keep the plans in case anybody is interesting in seeing the specs. Exactly as you notice, as far as tools I have a pretty big range of low, mid, and high end as I really tried to research where to spend more and where to get something more reasonably priced based on the types of projects I plan on using them for. Thanks again!

    You’ve done a great job on the bench. Like everyone else is saying, don’t care so much about other’s opinions when it comes to your work. The best thing about that top is that once you’ve decided to replace it in a few years, it’s s not like you’re destroying the entire thing. You’re just replacing that top.

    You’ve built a very nice functional low cost bench. How are you not getting snipe on drawer fronts? I’m diggin’ the removable wheels, dust collection and the huge outfeed/assembly area not to mention the art work. Keep coloring outside the lines, best ideas are out there. Well done IMO. Only thing I cringed at was the cheap blast gate. Consider replacing it with a high quality metal gate that seals better.

    • @vanishingcabinets
      @vanishingcabinets  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow thanks for commenting Tom! Really encouraging. Hilarious about the blast gate, you are right on. That thing was a cheap pos, already looking to replace it. I think I got lucky not getting any snipe honestly, the passes were shallow though, maybe 1/32 at most and those extending supports on the planer did a pretty good job supporting them all the way through.

    Holy crap, Batman. I applaud your use of flooring; however, methinks your construction is way too complex. It works, though, and I salute you for that. You have very specific needs, Just between you and me and the fencepost, this is akin to building a house from top to bottom rather than from bottom to top. It can be done, but it's a lot slower and requires too much extra effort.

      Very astute! At first I couldn’t figure out what was hanging up the bevel. There is just barely enough room to swivel the blade to 45 though I just needed to add another couple inches of hose which compacts down when sitting at 0 degrees. Super tight though

      @vanishingcabinets  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agreed! In fact I'm already noticing that the power source just on the inside of the cabinet is pretty limiting. Already made plans to run another power cord to the front, more accessible area

    You’re not on your own in using laminate as a table topper. I have it on my fold down bench in my shed.

    First let me say, Noice. (spell that way on purpose. ) second, good job sir. and I am planning my own build of a similar bench and i have the same saw. I was wondering if you could link that site for the murals. I'm an old dnd guy and have an idea for a theme in my soon to be shop. I want to merge lord of the rings with steampunk aesthetic. and I like the idea of the flooring top hows it on cleaning up glue?

    • @vanishingcabinets
      @vanishingcabinets  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Anthony, Displate.com is the site. Sounds cool! Actually LOTR was def on my possible artwork, also think there are a lot of DnD designs on there. I haven't had any glue cleanup yet but had some adhesive which came right off using a scraper. Pretty sure glue would also scrape off pretty easily

      Well, I definitely wouldn't say this workbench was low cost, spending $1,400 on a workbench is pretty excessive. But for me and this kind of project, definitely worth it if you have some money to invest.

    • @vanishingcabinets
      @vanishingcabinets  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s a 3 car garage but the bay is split so this will sit in a two car space. Still plenty of floor space to move around when in the center.

      ayo I'm just finishing watching the video and my man, this behemoth makes the table saw look like it's suppose to go in a drawer!
      Well earned like and sub, keep pushing and you gonna break through!
      I would suggest, since you asked for it and everything, that you make smaller and quicker projects so you can churn em out a bit quicker. It's gonna be easier to grow like that and people get a lot more invested in smaller projects that they might actually make on their own which also makes people revisit the video.
      Well earned like and sub anyway!
