Lovely quality. I think i may have done a few different things. 1 measured the worktop before cutting, so no need to cut out the space for the saw 2 not glued the top surface down, screw pocket holes from below. In case it gets damaged you can replace. Also the top surface has no screw holes that need to be filled. 3 Great looking surface and drawer. May fill in the space with different sized drawers
Mortise and tenon joinery: the sign of a master craftsman. I agree with Marco A. Casco. There’s loads of table saw benches out there but this is, by far, the best I’ve seen. So sturdy and well put together. It will last forever and will be something you can hand down to your kids or grandchildren. Great job. So much fun to watch you work.

I know I am a year late...but here we are. I like this design. Like others have mentioned, I'd not have glued down either the upper or lower table tops, as you eventually may get some buckling from seasonal wood movement. All that said, I am honestly surprised you still have all your fingers. I lost count of the very unsafe ways you were using that table saw. When you were doing those tenons, and running the wood vertically through it, you really should have a jig to do that, to hold them upright. And/or a tall secondary fence. One wrong move, and you have kickback from hell. Same with you cutting off the ends, with the fence and blade trapping the cutoffs...potential for creating an unintentional missile weapon there. Don't get me wrong...what you did worked...this time. You got lucky. My garage door has some dents from when I was foolish as well. But, in the end...you do you. Just some friendly unasked for advice from someone who's been doing this for 15 or so years. Learn from my own stupidity. ;-)

I’ve just started my interest in wood working as a hobby. I brought a Dewalt DWE 7485 table saw. Been looking for a workbench to built for it. Yours is by far the best out there, hands down! 👏👏 As a beginner it’s a little bit intimidating but I guess if you don’t try something, you will never learn. Thanks for an awesome video!

Thank you for your comment, I know it was intimidating for me as well but once you start building it it pulls you to continue and finish it, there are many ways to get the result you want, I wish you luck in your project!
Copy the basic layout, but build each member as two 2x4s next to each other with the intersections alternating to avoid a lot of the slot and tenons. Then use regular particle board for the top. Don't worry about filling in the screw holes, just countersink the heads on the table top and you will get the same basic functionality in half the time and 20% lower cost. He was building furniture, you want a workbench.
Beautiful and well-made table. I want to do something very similar but with a replaceable mdf top. That way i don't need to worry about cutting into it when I use it for assembly and other tasks. Small shop problems.
just finished mine tonight. scotland UK. cost me 40 pounds in 3x2 timber. 10 x 2.4m lengths and 47 pounds for a sheet of 18mm plyboard. 4.40x2.20m bench is 4.2m long and 1.4m wide. 90cm tall. table saws in there. used alot of scrap that i collect for extra supports. saved at least 40 pounds doing that. im installing a router on the underside next. so i can have it built in as aposed to making ANOTHER BENCH lol.

Congratulations, that's a great project as well, it can be a multifuntional table saw!
Firstly, beautiful result. While you do make tenons and mortises, using squared up shoulders on tight fitting joints would make it so much stronger. I don’t think it will matter here, but if you were making chairs, over time they might start to loosen. Overall, lovely bench.

I might build something similar with an old metal table frame I have out the backyard. one thing I would include is a guide rail on the side of the table.
This is a pretty solid little workbench. While once you figure out how it comes together, it is physically Easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh by yourself. But the diagrams explaining the steps are really pretty bad. I could not get the handle pins in all the way despite multiple attempts, so I just used a screw I had on hand for the 2nd handle. I could not get the first pin in further or pull it back out. You are supposed to hammer it in, but I had no leverage and the handle is plastic and I did not want to risk breaking it. I will get a lot of use out of the bench because of the convenient size and height. It does fold up nicely for storage. They even explain how to fold it so you don't get pinched...that is important!
Who needs plans eh! You work exactly like I do, I am a visual worker, make it up as I go along. Have the same saw and love it. Really good workmanship well done. The Mortiser looks a bit dodgy, what is it?

Great work !!!!! I have not seen another workbench for any table saw so well built in TH-cam !!!! most people use plywood, and for joinery, many other methods, not mortise and tenon. The boards you use are perfectly flat !!!! You are also good at drying wood. How does this new table saw compare to the old one? Seems to be more convenient, but louder too !!!! Of all the designs for this kind of integrated saw work table, this one appeals to me the most. That said, I would not have glued down the top and bottom owing to seasonal wood movement. But you get a thumbs up for the design, which I think I am likely to copy in future. Thanks for sharing. PS: what is that wicked-looking mortiser?!

Thank you Jeff, I got inspiration by watching other videos, but you are right, some things can be made better, I used the drill from my old table saw to make the mortises!
If ever built a workbench I’ll be doing it with a lot more basic joinery. No mortise and tenons for me. I ain’t got time for that. I would probably skip the half lap too and just butt and bolt. Lol.

That's right, you can built the same workbench in one day using simple joinery, but I wanted to make it on my way: mortise and tenons, good luck!
How the hell do you find the exact height of the table saw and make it even with the top of the plywood outfeed….thats the hardest part…currently doing that now!

I did my best to calculate this but still it was like 3 mm under the top, so I used a wooden shim for leveling the top

No speaking necessary (thank heavens no music fading in and out) and if you have a basic understanding of joinery It is entirely clear from beginning to end because all the measurements are going to be based on individual preference. there are hundreds of builds out there for those who like narrative. for the maker, thank you very much as it will help me with my build.

Just wondering how you accounted for seasonal wood movement?
very unusual to have what appears to be a 1 x 16" board $$$ and then use that for a lower shelf rather than plywood.
Did similar thing before. You did very well but wood saw bench is really too heavy, even with wheels still not mobility.
