Pink Floyd Animals is based on the book Animal Farm --> Pigs Dogs Sheep representing society by George Orwell ---> also famous for the book 1984. While you've got a long way to go yet. And it's all worth it. Cheers.
The thing about Pink Floyd is that in order to get the full depth of any single track you must experience it within the greater tapestry of the entire album. That is to say Dogs is a great track so is sheep and pigs three different ones but until you have the context of the entire album then you've only experienced a portion of it. Gotta listen to the entire albums , everyone ( each album ) is distinctly different and a beast of its own but still you know it's pink floyd as they are in a class all their own. But if you Want chill from pink floyd. Check out.
That fat old sun.

London thay got it back. 👍
Man have you read the book Animal Farm by Orwell?
You can't go wrong when comes to Pink Floyd. Fact!💥
It's easy to get overwhelmed by Gilmour's exceptional guitar playing, but for me, Richard Wright is an absolute genius on the keys. RIP, brother
Indeed. Rich was the backbone of Floyd
Pink Floyd, like all great groups, were all skilled musicians but together you got that intangible lightning in a bottle of pure magic. I mean for example I love the Division Bell but the classic line up produced at a much higher level that when apart
RWW was the soul of PF
Absolutely. Without Rick Wright, Floyd is not Floyd. Have we done Shine On You Crazy Diamond yet here? Coz, really...
RW was the glue that held PF together.
"Animals" is my favorite record from Pink Floyd. Such a great album. Thanks for this reaction. Peace ! 🙂
Highly agreed, of course it’s personal choice but after listening to each album a few hundred times, Animals is just a personal favorite, as well as this song. Dogs became my favorite Floyd song, gripping from beginning to end, like most Floyd masterpieces a trip in its own.
@@OsbaldoCervantes-im5pl Do you know the live cover of this album by a band called "colonel les claypool's fearless flying frog brigade" ?
@@OsbaldoCervantes-im5pl Same here✌
I never thought of Floyd as relaxing. More like intense and mind expanding. They take you on an emotional and mental journey few bands can match. That's why they're one of the most successful bands of all time. Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall are the greatest collection of albums in sequence that you'll ever come across. One of a kind, singular, and untouchable. Epic.
Somehow I always found my way back home.
This. Until you're ready to look inside yourself, you never really hear Pink Floyd.
Us and Them , the song i always played when in a bad mood ! perfectly relaxing
I would put Meddle in that sequence also. Then you get (almost) the full picture of the evolution of their music, from experimental and almost self-indulgent, to fully realized art.
Almost 50 years of still not tired of this album.
The transitions! I remember the first time hearing this.
My brother bought it and gave me a set of head phones. Laughed and said he would see me on the other side.
I was absolutely in love with Pink Floyd ever since.
46 years for me
Ever read Animal Farm?
@@TrianglesAndCircles of course
@@TrianglesAndCircles yes
Fun fact: when the Floyd were launching this album in 1976, they had a 40 foot across inflatable pig built, and decided to do the photo shoot outside the Battersea Power Station in London. It was a windy day and during the shoot the pig (filled with helium) broke free and disappeared up in the sky. National headlines followed as Heathrow airport's air traffic controllers started getting calls from airline pilots in the vicinity, reporting a giant flying pig thousands of feet up. The RAF were called in but the pig had disappeared without trace. It was later found in a farmer's field 65km south. No such thing as bad publicity!
Calling him "the pig" is a bit impersonal. His name was "Algie", and he proved that pigs COULD fly.
And they were suposed to have a guy to shoot it down if it broke free but he didnt show up. They were told they couldn't get a permit to do it again so they did it anyway.
@@skipwilliam5639 He wasn't an "it". He was a pig called Algie.
I’m man, what a GREAT anecdote!
They had cows on Time Square NYC for Atom Heart Mother.... or was that idea abandoned?
You noticed the flying pig, and looked right passed the sheep lying on its back. That's life, for ya.
All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others
They saypinkfloyd made more hits than the Beatles. Everysong jist about was a hit. Their albums is like a book each song is a chapter and you can hear each song run right into the next one of you listen to them in order. The music never stops it just transitions into the next song brillance.
Animals was inspired by George Orwell's book Animal Farm, each animal in the album has an important role in both the book and the album such as pigs, dogs and sheep.
One of the greatest instrumental 'break outs' in rock history as far as I'm concerned. I'm still mesmerized by it to this day.
I feel so bad for people that don’t discover this until later in life I grew up with it thank God
I hear what you saying, I’m 37, I did hear bits when I was 24 but it never caught on. I’d say it’s really caught on with me now. I don’t view it as I’ve missed out, I view it as I’m glad I got to listen to them in all of their glory. Think of how many will pass by never even hearing their music at all. Those are the ones I feel for
@@andrewdobson3518 well, I’m glad you’re experiencing it now I wasn’t trying to be snobby. I was just stating that I grew up with this music. This is what I was exposed to it a very young age so it’s set my bar very high and to only seek out the best music, because nothing else would do, not saying I don’t enjoy a very eclectic taste of music because I do but when you start off with the pinnacle of perfection, you tend to compare it to Pink Floyd. There’s only been a few bands that have come close, which is why the name Pinkfloyd and, tool are synonymous. At least with me.
Im 21 just became a fan!
Feels a bit late to the party but im glad i got into it
pink floyd the greatest band of all time
It is so sad that you and other reactors will never really understand Pink Floyd and the stories within their music by listening to albums like Animals, Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall piecemeal rather than listening to each album in its entirety in one sitting as they were designed to be experienced. They take you on a journey and weave the stories around you. It’s like reading one chapter out of the middle of a book and missing the whole story.
TBF, these guys are doing this to make a little money to live on...I don't think many people would tune in to watch him ingest the entirety of The Wall in full...it's much better to just listen to it yourself if that's your goal...one long song at a time is about all you can do...or do it like the Virgin Rock channel. She listened to the entire thing, but is releasing her reactions one song at a time...they got to get paid to keep doing this, dude...
@KingFloydX I get it, but you do understand, he needs subs and views or his channel goes away...YT is a "for profit" proposition that takes up a massive amount of the content creators time. No one in their right mind would be a creator for free, unless they were already independently wealthy. He has to get views, and I can tell you, as a fifty year old, forty year Pink Floyd lover, I would not sit and watch him react to the whole album...I would just listen to the album. One song at a time is the best thing he can do for his channel...
I don’t think reactors don’t get it. They must do. I’m sure most if not all come back and listen to the whole thing afterwards. We tell ‘m to often enough :)
I’m just glad to see even genZ discovering how great real music used to be and cracking down on the absolute tripe we get these days. Next up: Sibelius, Satie and Fauré. Not Vivaldi, Wagner or Mozart plz
Blame CD's and the skip option. Ever since then bands have stopped putting albums as a journey together.
Then suggest to him to listen to those albums in full
My all time favorite album! I know every note, the lyrics to this entire masterpiece!
People will be listening to Pink Floyd hundreds of years from now like we do Mozart, Beethoven, etc… they are eternal
Exactly .
when you realize that the dog barks and the man whistling is none other than Richard creating these sounds on the synth, you begin to ask yourself, did you really hear what you think you heard? A 2nd listen lets you hear Mason's drumming setting the tone and color when before you thought it was Gilmour's guitar dictating it. A few listens into this track and you get Waters' bass play and how groovy and funkadelic it was at times.
This song was supposed to be on the Wish You Were Here Album, but pushed back after the meeting with Syd, for it painted too dark a vibe for a tribute to be placed on the same album. They started putting this together in '73 on tour working it out and getting it polished up, maturing it on the road. Along with this track was supposed to be Sheep as well...which I hope you cover next or at least real real soon to keep the vibe from Dogs.
When you get to Pigs on the Wing parts I & II...know that friends you have never met are wishing you all the best, and hoping you keep on looking out for Pigs on the Wing.
❤
Two bands that never disappoint... Pink Floyd and Tool. This album released when I was a soohmore in high school. Immediately became one of my top 5 albums for life. This album is epically spectacular!
The album, that Maynard, James Keenan, refers to as opening his eyes to a better range of music
Guessing you’re about 64.
@@RoadDoug 🤫more or less lololol
@@RoadDougeah, I worked it out to 63/64 depending on what month their birthday fell 😁. I was a bit older when this album came out. Allot older really.
I'm 67 years old. What do you think we listened to back in the 70s when we got stoned? Pink Floyd! Welcome to the machine! Their live concerts had a huge pink helium filled pig floating over the stadium! 🎶😑
I feel kinda jealous of people listening to this album for the first time yet I feel so lucky to have known this for 30+ years and still enjoy it as much. This is what timeless sounds like. Untouchable piece of sonic magic.
Agreed
Oh, man...I was going to suggest this for your next Floyd experience. Unbelievable piece of music.
Sit back, close your eyes and let it take you away!
This whole album is excellent.
It is the Musical version of George Orwell's Animal Farm.
Animal Farm was required reading in school.
Had the opportunity to see the animals concert.
That big inflatable Pig you see on the album was flown around the stadium at the concert.
They also flew it at the Momentary Lapse of Recent concert
✌️ 🤠🏞️🐂
I would recommend you listen to this album from beginning to end.
You certainly don't want to miss context for following chapters.
🤠🏞️🐂
A reading of Franz Kafka's," The Trial" might also give you an angle on this album, as well as George Orwell's, "Animal Farm ". I won't tell you how The Trial ends but you may think of this song if you get there. Slán.
Pink Floyd are their OWN genre!!! and You DON"T rush Pink Floyd !!! If you want more "CHILL" from Pink Floyd, then check out: "Pillow Of Winds" a totally different vibe of CHILL!
You know the one thing I love about Pink Floyd? EVERYTHING! Absolutely everything.
I know this album for 40 years. The lyrics just keep kicking in stronger and stronger the older I get. Dogs must be one of the greatest songs ever written.
through out the 70s Roger and David really pulled it all together after all the issues with Sid and made killer music, you've gone about 10miles on a 1000mile journey... awesome
Have you ever walked down a road deep in thought. And got to the other end. And wondered how you got there. THAT'S PINK FLOYD!👍
I was a child of the 60's / 70's and can tell you the ultimate trip is to listen to this whole album laying in a sensory depravation tank while high on hash or opium.
Pink Floyd, easily one of the most creative and best bands of all time
It's not à song
It'a a expérience
It's a emotion
It's a perfection
It's a masterpiece
IT'S DOGS OF PINK FLOYD
My favorite song, for ever
For me, the fabulous thing they did with this song was David Gilmour singing the first part in the third person talking about Dogs in general and then in the second part Roger Waters sing as the Dog himself all in the same musical framework
Pink Floyd melts soul
Animals is loosely based on the book Animal farm. Each song represents an animal taking over in society. Dogs are middle management, pigs are the ruling class, and sheep are us common folk. Pink Floyd was second to none in doing cocept albums. I would say Gilmour is a god that shines on this album but that would sell him short on all of their other albums.
I was reading that today lol
I enjoy watching you discover Pink Floyd and cannot help but living vicariously through you in the moment. It's wonderful my friend. Quite focused on the instrumental end of things... and eloquently described. I would highly encourage you to go online to find the lyrics. With many bands, lyrics are not a huge issue, but with Floyd, they are HUGE. With lyrics in hand and a re-listen (or two or ten), you will rediscover this track in a completely different light.Your jaw will drop. As a loooooong-time Pink Floyd fan, ya gotta trust me on this one. The words to this piece are paramount. Well done my friend.
Well you were extremely more eloquent than I was saying the same thing well done...
@@daveking9393 Thank you sir.
why do i watch reaction videos on floyd, when ive got most of their albums.. i watch hip hop fans reacting, old folks reacting and heavy metal heads reactions..i guess its because of you mate and all ive mentioned.... its like a kinship of feelings, a confirmation of a love of mine..music lovers love music....its honest...cheers sevsimo
This WHOLE ALBUM is a MUST LISTEN THROUGH.... UNBELIEVABLE...M
You smelling your candle reminded me my past days when I was working and living in a music studio in one of the largest cities of the world and our gatherings there at the nights. At one night, we were about a dozen people having a chat in a circle seating order, and there was an apparatus, you light a small candle and it heats an aromatic liquid on top. I took it, smelled it, passed it to my left; next person took it, smelled it and passed it to left, and next person, then next person, and it came back to me, I smelled it, passed it to my left, I don't remember how long we have smelled that candle or what we were talking about but I have a great nostalgia for it. We were most probably listening Pink Floyd at the time again, since we were listening it for day and night.
Pink Floyd makes you feel like a puppet on strings. They tug you this way and that and just have total control over you during those precious minutes.
This timeless music will stay with you for the rest of your life. Get your head around that! But most of all, enjoy it as often as you can. One thing: it will never lose its value. It is like gold.
All right, sir. You're gonna have fun with this album. PS love the beard. That shit is smack, brother! ✌🏼❤🇺🇸
Animals for the WIN....BEST ALBUM....LOVE IT..!!!
At 67, I have many many private thoughts, images & memories which are married separately to every second of every Pink Floyd song. It has been them & my mind's eye. Saw them live. It became foggy by night fall & we were bumming, But, that fog mist in the air created such an effect with light beams that it made the show visually. No Roger Waters though. It was after that split. "Amused to Death" by Roger Waters features Jeff Beck on guitar. Quite awesome.
best band of all times 😎👍
As I'm sure you know, this is off the album Animals. All the animal sounds on the tracks were created with the musicians instruments. Just another fun thing about Floyd. I grew up listening to this music, it was a wonderful time. Really glad you're getting to know it as well. Enjoy and hello from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA!!!
Roger and Pink Floyd didn't write this , expecting it to get on the radio that's for sure . They play 3 and 4min long songs on them
I feel like I'm at a Floyd show waiting for it to start.
This is easily my favorite Floyd Track
Coffee, the smell of an aromatic candle and Pink Floyd. Proof you don't need drugs to get high.
The social critics in the lyrics are poetry
Can you see how Pink Floyd and Tool specialize in transitions…..roller coaster
Pink Floyd is really a reality of their own. Their tone, keys they pay in, their seemless transitions. There has always been something they did to me that I have never really been able to articulate.
Insanely brilliant song.....
"Gilmour Galore" is the BEST Description I've Ever heard!!! Well Done! Enjoy the Rest of this Album, WITH Lyrics Next!!!!
The "slow burn" of Gilmour's lead take you places!!!
Another Pink Floyd masterpiece.
Don't forget the lyrics. Pink Floyd back then were also delivering strong lyrics about society (and to this day, dogs, pigs and sheeps in this album concept still exist).
Приятель, Pink Floyd - это та группа, которую нужно слушать не отдельными песнями, а целыми альбомами... с первой и до последней песни!! / Dude, Pink Floyd is the kind of band that needs to be listened to not by individual songs, but by whole albums... from the first to the last song!!
I was 13 when that record came out, and it's still in heavy rotation at my house. Absolutely immortal, with just hints of what was to come in The Wall. Never, ever gets old.
Top 10 album of all time for me!!
Pink Floyd’s greatest work. Animals is my favorite album by them. I love “The Wall”, but I put that in an entire different category. It’s more of a musical or “Rock Opera” than an album. It’s an experience.
sevsimo, I have every one of DAVID GILMORE's guitar bends, sustained notes, and chord changes in grained in my brain. ✌️
Hello all you wonderful choppy droppers..I love that you're going down the classic choppy rabbit hole of old school rock and roll ✌️🤘
Animals has allways been my favorite album from them.
I don't know what music from the 20th century will continue to be heard in the future, but I have no doubt that Pink Floyd will always be among the ALL-time classics. People will listen to it like today we listen to Mozart or Vivaldi.
Exactly what I say all the time and I feel so bad for some people but never listen to it because they don’t think it’s in the genre of music. There is no genre when it comes to a masterpiece.
It’s OK you can say it’s your favorite. It’s definitely been mine since 1977.
@@KWC33 I was a youngster who almost only listened to classical music in the 70s. I was hardly interested in other types of music. Until I heard Pink Floyd one night camping. It was almost like a revelation, and I knew at that moment that Pink Floyd would be with me for the rest of my life. With them I opened my ears to new types of music, but I never found anything comparable. Each album is a journey, an experience that changes as I get older, I always discover new things in them, new meanings, new paths to explore within myself, because Pink Floyd has the amazing ability to make me reflect on things that are always important.
@@taranvainas I thought the same way, but I like the other Prog rock bands as well like yes an Genesis there is a lot of great music in the 90s. It was a bit of revival of Prog just heavier with more influences . And I was introduced to tool and I had that same feeling again .. again they are much heavier but they are absolutely brilliant in the song writing the premise and their musicianship is surpassed by none . if you haven’t listen to them and don’t believe just me and look at all the quotes for all the Pink Floyd reactions, and so many say the same thing. Try parable ,parabola he will start off in zen and end in 🤯
@@KWC33 I know other bands, but I only like some of them. That does not happen to me with Pink Floyd. I like EVERYTHING of them. Because in addition to being extraordinary musicians, they are also very notable intellectuals, aware of the most sensitive fibers of the human being and of the society in which we live, aware of our fears, our insecurities, our failures and complexes. I have lost one of my best friends, he was a philosophy teacher and used Pink Floyd in his classes. Today every time I listen to them (especially "The Wall") I feel like he is sitting next to me.
I saw the tour to support this album in 1977. Best show I have ever seen.
Big floating pig above the crowd??
One of my personal favorites tracks from pinkfloyd is :what do you want from me. From the devision bell album.
Highly recommend checking it out
This contains amongst the best and most chilling lyrics of all Pink Floyd tracks. "Who was broken by trained personnel".
Pink Floyd....the masters of sonicspheres.
Happy you liked Dogs. One of the many masterpieces of Pink Floyd. Make sure you check out all the live versions of their songs. Pink Floyd was always above all others. Live they put their art into heaven.
Pink Floyd’s greatness is in the studio. Non Grateful Dead live recordings generally suck anyway.
75 yo lady who's seen THE Pink Floyd,... Roger Waters & Dave Gilmour (together &/or separately 25+ times... and the Floyd has Never Done NUTHIN' That couldn't be re-produced LIVE in front of thousands of peeps hanging on EVERY Note!
It’s about society, pigs at the top with their noses in the trough, dogs middle class with sheep being the masses with the lowest standards of life! Ren is currently doing something similar,8-30 am ,uk time 21 July!
David’s guitar can speak a 1000 words with just a note. Truly one of the greatest. The guitar playing just speaks to your soul.
Another great reaction Mr. chop-maestro. Enjoyed this one a lot !!
Request you to react to Anesthetize by Porcupine Tree (LIVE ONLY) , whenever you get the chance. 😊
Great reaction! I’m a new subscriber. Your interruptions, though necessary to prevent from being yanked, were very well timed. So glad you enjoyed it as much as I did when first released in the mid 70’s. Phenomenal. Greatest band ever.
- PIG!!!...
- "I just noticed like a pig... flying in this, uh, album cover..."! LOL :D
- Oh man, there's a major story behind that pig! So, it's off to The Googles for you :) ...
That album cover is the Battersea Power Station of London, check it out online, that building exists, and when I visited London (I'm from Milan, Italy) I specifically went to see its grandiosity. It's a HUGE building and made a very eerie impression on me :)
Its the whole side of the album, its an fall season kinda music, leaves falling, 🌧 and Halloween movie playing in the background.
"Do I hear dogs barking on that thing?" "I do."
Man, watching your reactions is like listening to good music with a friend. I feel you're enjoying the music just by looking at you. thanks for what you are doing here.
It doesn’t feel right calling this a ‘song’…it’s much more than that. For me, this work of art (especially the last 3 minutes) expresses more emotion (angst) than just about anything else. I feel this track more than I hear it.
Thanks for sharing your reactions.
sevsimo, at some point you have to EXPERIENCE an ENTIRE ALBUM. Floyd's albums are CONCEPT albums, ROCK OPERAS. Each track segues into the next to tell a story. ✌️
It' to me is an amazing and one of the most important album s they have made a master iece

I am on the spectrum and I have been listening to Pink Floyd since I was 7. Music really affects me and can bring out certain emotional responses. Please listen to The Narrow Way, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun (Live in Pompeii), and Astronomy Domain with Syd Barrett ❤️
Floyd always manage to take you on a journey.....and the ear candy is a bonus !!!
Oh yes , Pigs Three Different Ones-next. Another amazing song. Well , it's Pink Floyd so that always means amazing.
After my brothers funeral ( died at 47 ,)we sat on floor and did Wish you were here . All sobbing surrounded by ROCK Love. TH ANK YOU THANK YOU PINK Floyd love , peace n RESPECT. XXXX
He had his guitar in his coffin. RIP DREW xxxx
Also, the reference of the “stone” in this song and in Tool’s “The Grudge”…no coincidence
Well here’s an old dude who has been a PF fan for over 50 yrs. I had Dark side of the Moon poster on my teenage bedroom , masters ❤🙏
Just imagine, for those of us that grew up in that era, the anticipation when a new Pink Floyd album was about to be released. You have no idea how lucky you are to have virtually the entire history of their music just a click away. While it amazes me how many have never heard their music, I really enjoy watching the reaction to those hearing them for the first time. I often wonder if I had the same expression when I touched needle to the virgin vinyl.
PS:What's the candle scent?
Maybe their best album! And IT is not possible, to describe the behaviour of most of human beeings! Especially in these days!
Floyd is phenomenal I’ve been listening since the 70’s. Saw them once nothing like it. Great reaction.
Masterpiece
The music is as expected fantastic but, the lyrics are even more important.
And the lyrics (like on so many of their songs) are not 'relaxing' at all.
Ive had the chance to see roger waters 3x already with my uncle and i envy him still ...he has seen them all together in the 70s 80s and all of the many great bands many times...my goal is to see gilmore before he passes but he almost never comes to the US anymore
Re your point about "how did we get here?" it's worth noting that the Floyd lads studied a bit of Architecture. Their songs are structured yet loose, formal yet fluid, grounded and groovy.
Cheers from Sydney, bro.
Definitely my favorite album for the narrative maestro and the soundscape
The pig might be representative of a very short, two part song called "Pigs on the Wing". All in all, one of their best albums. Floyd on.
I remember discovering LSD and listening to Pink Floyd in the early 70's and how it opened my eyes and mind....you had to be there!
PINK FLOYD ES LO MAXIMO
Wait for it.... 6:30 - boom!
Really glad to see how young people enjoy Pink Floyd, as we did many years ago. This is becoming in classic music.
Pigs on the Wing! It’s iconic!
