Yes, proof that we once had a kick ass music scene, with honest to god rock stars with load of charisma and talent, and they could pull it off live. No tracks, no pretending to be something they weren't. It's also proof that DLR did, in fact, sing for the band in the early days.

Absolutely epic. I had seen them 6 days earlier in Pittsburgh. These snippets definitely capture them at their best, especially the intensity of Mike's solo & RWTD choreography, which surprised me for an opening act. The promo studio video they had done just seemed so stale & goofy, but in real shows, it was a whole different world. Thanks for sharing this R&R treasure with us.

I saw them in little ol Bakersfield and you're correct...absolutely handed Sabbath their ass. VH was mind-blowing awesome. Sabbath didn't stand a chance.

@@2216sammy Thank you for the effort, it's much appreciated, I have heard that show at Hammersmith, it's Incredible, as is the norm for all early V.H. shows(especially 78'), what I was hoping for was more live Video of Eddie Solo's, I like to see his "tricks", as well as hearing them, especially the early years, I know Ed was constantly trying to create something NEW, but I gotta' believe these early years might have had a little more "Improv maybe", In his work, because of youth, and enthusiasm, the first 3 or 4 years on tour.

I distinctly remember a bunch of pre-pubescent teens in attendance. I found out later it was because Van Halen was on the cover of every Tiger Beat magazine that entire summer!

Was there from Tonawanda to see Black Sabbath and VH opened for them. Was pretty high that night and don't really remember too much other than Roth doing the splits off the drum riser at the end of the show. Also recall they had sound problems part way thru the show and sound was cutting in and out. Also- asking my friend before VH came out- "do you know anything about this Van Halen?" This was the twilight of the original Sabbath and VH completely outdid them. Little did we know VH would go on to such great success. The fog lifted and enjoyed the Iommi guitar solos later that evening. Good times.

Glad you think so! Super8 reel speed change so much. This one in particular was edited from a 3min reel to a 25 min reel. So the video speed varied quite a bit. From 91% speed to 98%. It was a job in its self. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.

Their "stage show" was so intense. such high energy, charisma, stage presence, they are having fun, their songs are fun, it's so entertaining. It's rocknroll it's supposed to be fun. not melodramatic, overly thought out and dark. Amazingly good at each position for their first tour and professional. there isn't a band in the world that says "yep. we'll go on next." while seeing this display. i know many times, early in their career, veteran bands were scheduled to go on after them. true. but you'd have to be ate up with arrogance to act like you weren't impressed.

BTW, I bought 2 slide negatives about 18 years ago of this show and was able to match up both moments to this video, amazing to see! (I'm The One, and an LP shot at the end) and the position is almost exactly the same, I thought maybe your guy took those too but they're just slightly higher. The guy I bought it from was named Irwin from Oshawa, Ont.

Niagara falls civic and convention center was such a amazing venue !!
Now its a native American gambling casino they never knew how to properly promote the city and the venue that is Niagara falls new york.
If you're not familiar with the venue that originally was the Niagara falls convention center i encourage you to look it up .
It was unique designed it was supposed to represent the shape of a rainbow below the Niagara falls.
But they never had a permanent tenant or could hold events around the Callender never had great promotion running the place . Wwf wrestling would come monster truck events as well that killed a spectator actually as well . Rip
They would occasionally get a concert that would bring in occasionally revenue . But this place never got the respect it truly deserved they could have Niagara falls new york just does not have it together like the Canadian side of the falls .
If the convention center was in Niagara falls Canada it would still be in operation and not a casino
