  • The Subaru Crosstrek is all new for the 2024 model year, but do you really need to outlay the extra cash for a Wilderness, a Limited, a Sport, or even a Premium? In my comprehensive review of this Offshore Blue base model we will go over the looks, the powertrain, measure out the the cargo room, check the passenger space, and look at the convenience features and the EyeSight Safety Features.

    Bruh your presentation about the mechanics of the Subaru symmetrical system and the CVT was excellent. It's a description that I don't see on other car review channels. You're small, but I appreciate it. Well done.

    Overall, not a bad car. Subaru should make blind spot monitoring standard too, as it is quite helpful. My oldest daughter has this exact car in gray metallic. Thanks for a review on a base model.

      Adjust the side mirrors and center mirror properly, and you will not have a blind spot. No gadgets are required. Instructions can be found on the Internet, then test it on the freeway.

      @@lorenschwiderskimy 24 Crosstrek Wilderness has blind spot monitoring and my 2016 Legacy had it too. Rather, keep my eyes on the road. BSD works great IMO. I was an industrial controls tech for 45 years and like my gadgets.

    every cargo measurement but the one that tells me if it's comfortable as a sleep-in at the trailhead, the highest cargo floor to ceiling. it's gonna be lowest at the door but how much higher does it get?

      As long as you're not that tall and not that afraid of serial killers you'll be fine

    Are roof rails not standard in the US?

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dang good eye! I didn’t even notice that! I checked Subaru’s website and this base model I reviewed does have mounting points for cross bars, but if you want roof rails you have to move to Premium trim or higher.

      On this one this driver’s seat was height adjustable but the passenger side was not

    Is the cvt reliable and thoughts

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Long term the CVTs have been somewhat hit or miss as far as reliability goes. However, to Subaru’s credit, they have extended transmission warranties on certain years/models with higher than normal failure rates on the transmissions. Unfortunately all modern automatic transmissions are so complicated (CVTs, DCTs, 8, 9, or 10 gears, etc) that none of them are as reliable as they used to be.

    It is a good looking car. I haven't a clue why people think otherwise?

      Because most people prefer things that look like everything else. They don't want to stand out. Everyone says they do, but when given the chance most choose something bland and unsurprising, which is why the most popular cars (SUVs) all look basically the same. Not only that, but they choose the most bland of colors - white or silver generally. What this guy doesn't get about the "sporty looking" comment he got is that it does look sporty, just not "street-racing sporty" but rather "rally-car sporty."

    HAHA i never knew that's why it was called "boxer". Thanks for explaining it. Why isn't a VW flat four also called boxer then?

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think some people probably do call it that. The only other manufacturer that currently uses "horizontally opposed" engines is Porsche and they use the Boxer terminology, hence why the Boxster is called a Boxster.

      All opposed cylinder engines are called boxers, even on motorcycles etc.
