I once bought a used 3DS which had an SD card in it. I found photos of.... the previous owner wearing a Beetlejuice costume. But he took like 100 selfies of himself in costume. It was a bit weird. 😅

@@SuperMDGOLD I'd guess the Xbox 360 would actually be the hardest to do so, because RGH is probably the most complicated. For the PS3 and the Wii you can do that by softmodding. For the PS3 it's actually the most useful, atleast when you consider legal purposes only, because you can bring back PS2 capability.

Man $3300 is insane, I picked up a lot of 63 consoles for $250 from the pawnshop next to my house. It was basically a smaller version of this lot, same consoles.

@@jrob0021I think you can see what IP address they were using in the network settings, and then you could search up the IP on your computer to locate their address. May be alot of work behind it, but if i knew i could give back old family photos, i would do it. 😊

I suggest you test ALL the USB ports on the wii consoles. I bought a wii off goodwill awhile back and the USB ports were busted. Luckily, for me, I like repairing consoles and had a good time learning how to replace the USB ports in the back.
Yeah I test everything on these consoles, just not on video. My viewer retention would be crap if I showed every single thing on video

10:49 The wii wasnt actually last played like 2009, in the save game data you can see Disney Infinity 1.0 which came out around 2013, so it at least was stopped being played around then.

It makes me wonder, seeing those old playtime notes which I remember myself, if they knew it would be the last time they’d play it. Yes, they all donated the consoles, but there could have been years between the last play time and the time they decided to donate them. Before you know it, a year has passed and the console is just there in the place it always was, or in the box right where you left it

Outside of financial troubles I just could never understand selling one of my game consoles - assuming I enjoyed using it anyway.
Pretty much no matter how scratched a Wii Sports disc is it always seems to work for me.
I have a wii that I bought in highschool on release day, and it has started making that grinding noise you showed that is caused by warn gears. thank you for tearing it down and showing that. Now I know what I need to do to fix it.

on the wii calendar the message icon is only for "important" messages, normal messages are without anything so they can be at any date
That Zephyr has likely been modded so that the fans always run at max speed, likely to prevent RRoD
Ive seen and done the 12v fan mod back in the day, but that ran it at full blast the entire time. This one seemed odd because it started off slow, but then ramped up pretty quickly. But yeah maybe it’s a different mod I haven’t seen before. I’d like to open it up but just don’t have enough time given how many consoles I have now lol
@@jrob0021maybe they changed fan curve in software that it ramps the fans up at lower temps to prevent overheating. Or thre is a bunch of dust inside the console and dry thermal paste so heat doesn't come out even fans are at full speed
@@quantasplayI call modding fans the “cheater’s way” of replacing thermal paste, where they want to cool the console but don’t want to remove X-Clamps

I don’t really have any plans to unfortunately, it’s extremely time consuming to film and the analytics have shown me that the cleaning/refurbishing is the part that people don’t care about as much

@@LeesReviews69data doesn’t lie, despite what people might think they want to watch, I can see the analytics on all of my videos, which tells me what people actually want to watch. I’ll look into maybe including a clip here or there but honestly, the filming schedule just doesn’t really align with the cleaning schedule. We’re already on a huge time crunch and struggling to get this content out each week and all the consoles listed.

20:30 you may want to check what disk drive because if it’s the newer black Wii models replacement disk drive the older white Wii you installed it into won’t read GameCube games and that’s why most people buy Wiis now days.
Black Wii models can run GameCube games fine.
The main difference between the two disc drives is that it's impossible to play burned discs.

I use to repair 360 disk drives , most of the time the belt would wear out. A cheap replacement are the small black rubber bands at dollar store in the hair care isle. They work perfect
You forgot to check to see if there are any Miis on the Wii Remotes because I constantly forget that I have any on mine
I used to keep a steak knife on our entertainment center for our glossy 360 to pry it open, I had no clue about the tap method

That white 360 is probably just dirty the lens more than likely just needs to be wiped down

I have modded probably about 10 wii's in my life time, and yea disc drive is unnecessary to mod anymore. It used to be you needed a certain Disc (I think there were only a handful of games that would work) which had the exploit in the save data to execute the code. But over time that was no longer necessary so all you really need these days to mod one is a sd card. Im not sure if you can exploit it with a usb drive or not. I think this is why people still buy broken wii's on ebay to this day. I have come across many wii's at thrift and yard sales, i usually buy them up if they are the right price no matter what. I have found that close to half of them have some sort of game still in them. It is definitely fun to see what might pop out. I think the most valuable one that popped out for me is the Wii Sports/Sports resort dual game disc. Not sure how much they go for now, but back then i think i sold it for like 70 bucks disc only (height of covid inflation of course). Sorry about the wall of text. I love the direction you have taken this Channel, keep it up

That white 360 was in the process of red ringing, I had two that would boot and seemingly run fine for a minute or two and then take off like a jet engine and red ring.

(9:44) I can tell those are stubs that would've linked to the respective Wii Shop Channel pages, plus I see the "Wii + Internet" video stub, so they likely had never connected their Wii to the internet.
pretty sure the wii message board calendar doesn't mark days that only have "today's accomplishments," only days with other messages received, so you haven't accurately checked when the wiis were last used
The noisy gears thing is pretty common on wiis, Usually a little lube will make them less noisy.
The tap method is super effective
sounds like you could fix that one disc drive up and resell it as refurbished and make a couple more bucks depending on how much those parts are
Always had to chuck the ball in the air to get a strike
Instead of buying new bands for the drives, simply boil the old ones in a little bit of water for a minute and it brings the bands back to life. Dont waste your money
Thanks for showing me how to fix the disk drive my MW2 special edition has a stuck drive and thats literally the only thing wrong with it. It's otherwise in amazing condition. Now I can restore her and get back to playing my first non-Nintendo console

Nice! I've had that happen a couple of times where the disc was spinning when opened. It would scratch the disc sometimes too. Any ideas what causes this? Motherboard issue?
It was something inside the disc drive. Once I replaced the belt and cleaned it out, it didn’t have any isssur

I have a 12gb super slim and I actually prefer it because it can format itself when you put in a new harddrive. I know other models you have to use a usb stick or something.
I sold my Wii without factory resetting but everything cleared out except for the virtual console games, apps, and several photos of my dog and cats.

So I went to your website because im in the market for a PS3 that can play PS2 games and I noticed that on the PS3 entry it said, "The disc drive itself has NOT been opened up and cleaned." That console has already been sold (and I think that was the wrong model for what I wanted anyway) but do you offer a service to clean and verify the disk drive for an additional charge? Cause it would suck to buy one of your consoles only to find out the disk drive isnt working properly after purchase.
The disc drive works fine and I offer a warranty, I just don’t typically open up the disc drive if it doesn’t have an issue and/or if it’s not dirty

I want to buy a used Wii with games downloaded on it. I sold mine and I had so many good games I bought and saved to the HD like WaveRace64, Castlevania, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, and a bunch of others. I sort of regret selling it now. I sold it on FB marketplace for like $75! haha
they are super easy to mod and you can get whatever virtual console game you want these days.. definitley worth it just need a big sd card capacity i usually have a 16gb or 32 in mine

Huh, that's funny, I didn't know, for some reason, about the GC-compatibility, but when I checked the Wii I have (got it used from a friend way back) I'm happy to say it's the GC-compatible one :D Now, I also have a GC so not that much use for it and I don't plan to hook the Wii up since the Wii U takes care of those games as well and I'm trying to have around 20 consoles hooked up at once when I'm done so saving one video connector and one power supply makes some difference :)

Do you drop the cache of the system if its an old one running old firmware? Theres a few PS3 communities that need the dumps from PS3 to bring old stuf back. Example, LBP Union for LittleBigPlanets 1,2,3 and Karting, Then there is Destination Home (these people need dumps big time) but they are responcible for bringing back playstation home. Its in a working state but need dumps from old systems to bring back everything.
After finding two PS4s next to dumpsters in recent months and reselling them, I think I'm gonna keep & use the X-Box360 that I pulled out of one last week...
Give these consoles the good ol' DK oldies refurbish treatment
I got a Xbox one x for $160 worked for a few weeks then stopped letting me play any games saying "problem with saved games" and error screen with a code. I replaced the hard drive and it worked for 3 weeks now back to the same problems. Anyone got any advice besides throwing it out?
Maybe you can select some of the photos and post in some social media asking anyone knows the people on the photos.
I have a fat ps4 it works good boots up fine. But when I get into a game the game stutters and freezes. And sometimes it looses Wi-Fi connectivity I’ve had it since it first came out. any idea why?

Is it even possible to delete photos from the Wii? If you put the SD card into a PC sure but Photos that are uploaded on the Wii. Seem to be pretty stuck there like I am 90% sure there is no option to delete or it’s not an on screen button
