ive been hunting for hyperdetailed and creative Lego city channels ever since discovering @Brickcrafts a few months ago. Money and space are such stiflers of these types of projects and you have really opened my eyes to the possibilities of digital tools/rendering. Super excited to see your progress!
I can't believe this. I was confused by the title, thinking "Wait, that's not digital???" Then you said you made it in Blender and I was like dang! Keep up the great work :D
This is incredible! Details like the camera shake and focus, extra pieces in the background, and even a "physical" table contextualising the location of everything in the digital world as if it were physical makes it feel so real and is all so clever. Well done, and I can't wait to see more :)
You have a fantastic eye for design; your digital industrial city is looking really impressive. I own a large Lego parts store and would love the opportunity to bring your renderings to life so they can tour the USA convention circuit. The first enhancement I can think of is incorporating different brown and grey shades of brick elements that are found in older Lego collections, (digital software often neglects these slight palette color differences, but they look awesome together when creating a weathered look). My next suggestion to help achieve the photorealistic environment is to use skin-toned minifigures from the newer sets. There's newly released minifigure accessories that really make factory workers and construction contractors shine. SUBSCRIBED & excited to see your city's expansion!
This is the most beautiful build I've ever seen - a) you can't tell it's digital, and b) the way you've built it, the design is really original and inspirational. Can't wait for the next video!
the fact you add the camera wobble and the tiny nudges of the bricks in the background when "constructing" a segment genuinly fools my brain into thinking this must be real, even though you state so many times that it isnt, its incredibly impressive
I hope this the first of many videos, and maybe even a new series or genre. I love hearing the methodology and mental planning as you're showing how it's accomplished. I would also be very interested in a work flow/how to/copy this effect style video, whether you tell us how you do it, or show us how to do it ourselves, I am absolutely interested in seeing more! I too feel so limited by my physical space, and Lego budget, but grew up building with Lego Digital Designer.
It took me a moment to realize all of this was rendered. I thought the initial buildings were built out in reality for inspiration/direction. This is phenomenal work. Very excited to see this series progress!
@@CanosieLabs I bet It cost you a huge amount of hours of work though. Really impressive stuff: details, render quality, camera movements, all top notch!
For the first few minutes, I was in doubt whether you were lying, and it was actually real, until you started fading in parts while the camera was moving (which would not be possible). This is amazing, I have never seen this level of realism in a LEGO render.
Definitly do a video on the technical/Blender stuff! If you hadn't mentioned it (and excluding the "impossible" floating construction progress), I'm not sure if I would even have noticed that it''s not real.
Really amazing. I'd absolutely be interested in a side video discussing the lighting, shading and rendering setups and challenges you overcame. Love it when creators take you "behind the curtain" and show their process.
As a Lego build, these building and streets look awesome. As Blender renders, they look perfectly photorealistic. I would love to see the side videos on how you do this. Looking forward to seeing the city grow!
I love these city / buildings being based off very real and familiar style buildings most people would actually see in regular cities (in the US at least).
This is so cool! It's awesome to see the digital side of the hobby seem so real, and this seems attainable. I can't have a 200,000 piece, room filling lego city. But this? It's possible and insanely cool
Can't wait to see more videos, had no problem watching this all the way through, will actually watch it a few more times for detail inspiration for my new Lego City. Thanks! 😊
dude, this is a genius idea for a series. earned yourself a sub. I am not into 3D modelling/rendering myself, but I would still watch some "making of" behind the scenes stuff just cause of how convincing these renders are. got me curious
Great video, I've tried something similar in the past and it wasn't even close to this but therefore I do realise a bit how much work's gone into this video, so hats off! Looking forward to see the expansion of your city
I’ve always wanted to make an old warehouse looking building to house my car collection for display. I will definitely be using some of the techniques in this video. Thanks for taking the time to make this. It was very well done.
Really intriguing idea! As a long time blender user, i'm especially impressed with the reflections and the bump variations on the tiles. It would be super interesting to see you taking advantage of doing it digitally, and animate some driving trains, smoke, cars and maybe even people going about their everyday lives!
Wow this is incredible, great work! Love how you incorporated the HVAC and electrical piping into the build, it adds so much life to the build. I have a feeling this is gonna blow up, can’t wait to see what’s next!
This is amazing on both the LEGO design and that this is supposedly digital?!?! I honestly cannot tell that this is not real. Better than any Hollywood CGI i have seen.
Nice! You can only make these videos look even more authentic by using your phone as a motion capture device for the virtual camera so you don't just fake camera wobble with a synthetic script/algorithm (you could also use the phone motion capture as a way to move minifigs to give it a more "played with" feeling). Also would be nice to know the estimated budget along the way and the total budget at the end of the video to give a sense of how many parts were used!
hi, Yeah, I agree. I've tried using phone motion capture for my Android camera and it just doesn't give great results. Maybe if I ever get a iPhone, I'll try it out as I hear it can be better. lol It was also pretty time consuming to add the motion capture process to each shot too but it was a interesting thing to try out. I think the "Shakify" looks OK for static close ups (when compared to other TH-camr real Lego city builds) but not so great when the camera is panning left or right....
This is insane.... Even knowing this is digital and looking for the tell, tell signs of repeated textures, clipped geometry, polygon edges my brain refuses to accept it. I can litterally see 4 identical mdf boards, with identical patterns but my brain is just like, nope this is genuine footage. Man this is some quality work, fucking gg
I really enjoy your building style!!! I've been looking for this kind of MOCs for a long time. Also I am a big fan of industrial areas, they have some kind of charm. Due to the part limitations I mainly build city scale replicas of real cars, but fitting them into the similar to yours environment is my dream) Immediately subscribed and waiting for the updates)
Wow! I don't think I would have noticed if you hadn't said this was CGI in the beginning. I completely forgot this was digital while watching. The handheld camera and environment perfectly sell the illusion. I wonder what you could do with this - have you thought of animating the figures? Or film it from a minifig 1st person perspective? Different time-of-day? Working street lights? The sky is the limit!
hi, I will at some point do a camera from a mini-fig POV. That'll be pretty cool to see I think. As for working street lights, it's also something I eventually want to do. So much is possible
This is just magnificent! I've got a feeling your blendered city is going to end up breathtaking, allbeit definitely an expensive project if someone were to build it IRL!

I would ask, for future videos, that you reduce the shake in the shaky cam moments: they really add to the realism of it all, I cannot deny; keep most of them in but when getting close to the “models” please reduce the shake so I don’t feel so sea sick whilst trying to take in the detailed work: I can’t see the detail of the lego render (and, maybe that’s on purpose which is totally understandable not to break the illusion of reality: the renders look truly lifelike. But the design of the the whole thing, the actual thought that went into each part of the build; fantastic and awe inspiring work. Thank you for sharing. I really appreciate it.
Amazed. Truly an inspiration. I’ve been dragging my feet on launching my own channel. Because I think everything is LEGO has been over done… but this is unique and a breath of fresh life into LEGO content. I need to get in the game.
