- It's been 20 years since the release of Brandy's Afrodisiac. In the past two decades, the album has positioned itself as an influential work in the current sound of R&B. With producers like Timbaland, Kanye West and Organized Noize, plus the Vocal Bible herself, Afrodisiac is Brandy's most critically acclaimed to date. I adore Nodding Off and I wish it made the main tracklist. Brandy was so ahead of the game with Afrodisiac.
Lyrically, her best work. The songwriting on Afrodisiac is TOP tier
This is actually my favorite Brandy album and I feel like it's so underrated.

So true. I feel like all of her albums, since she was exposed, have been grossly underrated. I didn’t like that she lied to us but it certainly wasn’t an unforgivable thing. Beyoncé gets CAUGHT in her lies and is always being accused of stealing and other awful things but she has never been held accountable or had to suffer from any of the bad behavior she’s displayed, including the way she treated her grp mates. That being said, I think it’s possible, that Brandys career was sabotaged. Along with Aaliyah, Mariah Carey, Ashanti, and Mya, for starters.

Beyoncé has been caught LYING, pretending to be more talented than she actually is, has stolen from lesser known but more artistic/talented ppl and no one has held her accountable for any of it yet the public was so “outraged” at a young woman, who hv felt the pressure to lie to save her career bc she knows how unfair the world is to women who don’t live up to society’s standards? Hmm, that doesn’t track for me. I don’t believe most ppl cared. Ppl will put good music over values and character all day. I just dnt believe that was the REAL halt in Brandys career. All of Beyonces competition mysteriously “fell off”….or died. Brandy, Aaliyah, Mya, Ashanti, hell even Ciara-without Beyonces machine behind her, she couldnt see ANY of these artists when it comes to artistry or entertaining an audience without a half million dollar stage production behind her.

I think this is her best album. I never thought the song with Kanye wasn’t that great-mainly, bc I thought his rap was wack af, I felt like Brandy deserved better than that.didnt care for the vid either.

Love to see your channel receiving so much love, congrats 👏🏾. Afrodisiac ( I also have noticed tons of people saying in recent years that this is their favorite, it wasn’t that way sometime ago 👀 though I’m glad people are finally coming around and seeing it’s greatness) is my personal favorite album from her, it takes me to a time and place, it’s quite nostalgic for me. I lived through this era in real-time, when I listen to it I feel like a pre-teen all over again. To add, Human(it’s truly underrated, the pop sound worked so well with her voice, I loved the unreleased tracks from this era as while) and 2/11 also have a special place in my heart.

From the ones you mentioned, I particularly love Human! Right Here is a classic and songs like Shattered Heart and Something’s Missing are amongst my all time Brandy faves. Plus all the leaks from that era: Freedom, Drum Life, Surprise Ending, After The Flood… so many amazing songs! 😍

LOVE Afrodisiac! Brandy looked incredible during that era. It's my third favorite Brandy album, after NSN and FM of course. My top three are the title track, I Tried and Should I Go. I think Talk About Our Love wasn't the best choice as the lead single.
