So basically apart from 2 parts you snapped yourself and some wear and tear on the seat badges there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. These things are solid. Ive had a few f models and all been solid.
I’m considering getting the f82 M4 with around 120k kms and wondering if you have any experience with maintenance with that many kms. I’m coming from a 335i and as much as I love the car so much it was at the garage more than I would like. So I just hope to get some advice on higher mileage M4’s
Absolutely. Contrary to popular belief, BMW's are actually quite reliable. Had two so far and both were so damn reliable compared to other car brands I've owned.
The plastic clip in the trunk holds your trunk floor up for you, so you can access the storage underneath without having to hold the floor up with your hand. The seat badge cracking is a known issue that a dealer should replace under warranty, most likely with the newer black badge that doesn't have the same issue. The iDrive issue is also well-known, and is way more common with iDrive 6. The reset procedure usually fixes it, but not permanently in some cases. I just took delivery of my 2022 G82 Comp last week, but I refuse to get rid of my 2018 F82 Comp which has been rock solid for nearly 5 years!
@@BeemerFam this happened to my 2015 F32. Living in Tempe, Az didn’t know there was others w this issue w the idrive system reset. Also if resets sometimes Bluetooth doesn’t connect to IPhone.
Sounds like a pretty solid car. I have an E36 that required clutch, shocks, brakes, cooling system, battery, ac system, tie rods, valve cover gaskets and many sensors. 😉 25yr old car now drives like a champ.
I can't believe what I just heard... lol. I had to use my PHONE for navigation. Dude. Really? What if you had to pull out an actual map? What would you do then? 🤣 🤣
One thing that’ll fail is the inner door handle pulls if you have the soft rubber ones. 2016ish they replaced with plastic. The rubber disintegrates after a while. oem gas cap is like $25 M seat badge can be replaced with the lci ones in color More difficult but iDrive hard drive can be replaced with ssd Also regarding squeaks and rattles highly recommend having the dealer investigate if under warranty (if oem parts causing it ofc) Not an ad but ever since I found FCP euro.. it’s been cheap asf to maintain my 2013 328i Will be doing the same with my 2020 M2c when the new car warranty expires!
FCP Euro allowed me to restore my E30 with minimal hassle. I still miss BavAuto as the catalogs and tutorials really provided a community feel, but yeah, FCP is a great team!
Thanks for warning ⚠️ us about the gas cap and latch in the trunk. My only gripe is the interior creeks and rattles when temperatures dip below 32 degrees. It’s rock solid when the temps are warmer
My 2016 M235i I-Drive cuts in and out sometimes I don’t know what causes it but it’s very strange sometimes it just completely shuts off and then reboots itself.
Duuude I thought I was alone!! This happens in my 2016 X5 sometimes. It’ll completely go black and then pop up with red letters saying it’s reconnecting
Funnily enough, the cord on my petrol cap went this year (I've had my car for 7 years now) but I replaced it immediately, with a new one from Amazon. It gets pretty cold over here in the UK but it either seems as though the weather you have is extreme and messing with your i-Drive and door or you might just need an update for the i-drive. I always get a check for updates when I have a service. Anyway, good vid, nice car (mine is Mineral Grey with Santorini (red) leather) and all the best.
The F10 m5 has a (subtle) water pot boiling whistle when it’s cold and running to 3000 rpm. Then it has a metal rattle sound when reving (cold or hot) high, the dealer said it’s the waste gate and they couldn’t find anything wrong tearing it apart. Both symptoms are from low mileages like 10K~20K and it just ran fine. I have 56K miles when I sold it.
For a decently priced m4, I’ve been seeing some for 35-50k. But some with close to 100k. I know your experience has been solid, but what do you think about a m4 with 100k and looking into buying it? I know be smart about it and be prepared to spend more money, but just wondering im young and want to enjoy one before it’s to late
So I live in Florida so most of your problems won't apply to me since I don't live in no goddamn god-forsaken frozen tundra and then a couple of other things you just broke Yourself by accident sounds like a pretty good car
Not gonna lie that’s why I’m terrified of getting a German/European car they sound and looks good but man unreliable 🤦🏽♂️. I was gonna get the f10 m5 or the m140i went to the dealership and I took them for a drive , ended up leaving with a GSF . Not one problem nearly 2years now 👌
This is probably one of the most reliable m cars if you do your maintenance. Modern bmw especially b58 etc are super reliable, it's really just like a Russian roulette whether you get someone's ticking time-bomb or not; Because the previous owner thrashed it.
Helllo . . I have a BMW M4 2014 F82 also and on dash board front of me after i brake on the second or third time come up this info : " bad fuction position "P" of gear box " Can some body tell me if already had this information on the bord? The car when stop it stays brake with gear box ...it works. And always use hand brake of course Some body can help me out? I will go to a bmw dealer ..probably..
It’s just the I drive resetting, not uncommon. You didn’t even mention the turbos which are weakest point 0f the car - just had mine replaced at 52k miles. So you’ve got that coming mate, don’t even mention if / when you need to change the clutch 😢 so tryst me you haven’t even got to the pain point yet ! To add these cars suffer from rocker cover and rocker gasket issues, sump gasket issues and also the big issues is the crank hub pulley………….these are the real problems I’ve listed……..not a broken plastic wire to the petrol cap Lmfao.
I own an F series but that aside, the whole gas cap thing, its good practice and everyone should do it on their cars- cut that cord off and never use it. It just leads to people getting lazy and when they fill up, they don't use the hole on the hinge to hold their cap, so they let it fall against the car, causing scratches around the fuel door area.
Squeaky underneath the armrest? Maybe the e-brake holder is broken and the e-brake rubs to the chassis. Change the holder to a metal aftermarket one, or simple as tying the e-brake to the frame with zip-tie
Great video! Please continue to keep us informed. I had a 2018 440 cabriolet and now I have the 2022 M4 cabriolet competition. My 2018 was solid. 3 issues - idrive system like yours shutting off on hot days… and one day my window wouldn’t roll up. Also had the locking issue on the door. All issues fixed under warranty
Wait til it hits 85-90k miles…lol.. having owned a E92 m3 brand new and a f30 m3 brand new..both with regular oil, trans, maintenance checkups…would start having smoke coming out front..coolant,radiator, gasket problems..on both…and yes i drive my cars like they stolen, red lining every time and hitting 140plus daily…but whats the point owning a sports car when u dont do that…now im switched to mercedes amg’s…doing the same wear n tear…so far 30k miles and no problem..we will see later, haha
Of course your cars will be fucked if you constantly drive like it's stolen. No performance car will last if you do that, including hypercars and supercars, which are well over the price of an m3.
I had an issue with the Idrive will crash after turning on the car if the car has been turned off and turned back on a couple times within an hour. E.g. you're moving from one parking lot to another turning off the car each time. Eventually the idrive will just crash and have to reboot, the same way yours was affected by cold.

No signal on iDrive is a result of a low voltage Battery. Had this on my F32 and Mini F56, both were fixed with new or charging the battery.
