To add onto the injector failure, ethanol burns much faster than regular fuel and it takes a lot more ethanol to do the same thing compared to a regular 91 octane. Sometimes the injectors won't be able to put out as much fuel as you need, causing you to run lean. Not only on this motor, on all cars. Generally, with some exceptions, the injectors were made for a regular fuel, not ethanol, and they just won't have the power to inject the proper needed amount of fuel.

In relation to the intercooler and charge pipes, I recently had about TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS worth of work done by the dealer (all covered under warranty thankfully) because as I was told the charge pipes weren't sealing properly and caused the coolant in the secondary expansion tank to overheat and boil out. The coolant leaked onto the DME and fried it and the pump coming off of the secondary tank fried itself because it overheated with no coolant to keep it cool. I didn't have my car for a month

I have 80k kms now. Ken from Wedge performance custom e85 tuned mine since 42k kms. I have VRSF top mount intercooler, VRSF heat exchanger, VRSF catless downpipes and MPE. Have had 2 injector failures and a oil filter housing gasket at 75k kms since being tuned. Running on stock chargepipes, crank hub and dct clutches. However I have had a dct fluid service. Planning to do ssr crank hub and Dodson clutches once I go pure stg 2+. Knock on wood for my stock crank hub :)
Very informative video with no bs. At the same time it's disappointing that you spend so much money on the M3 and get an engine that you have to fix by yourself as if manufacturer didn't see those issues. It looks like they have been designed to break so that you keep fixing your BMW or simply buy a new one after 2-3 years.
I have a 15 F82 as well and mine started leaking at round 47K miles, but I've been running about 24PSI of boost since around 23K miles, so the BMW tech told me that running increased boost on the OEM TMIC will cause it to go bad a little early. In either case I replaced it with CTSTurbo TMIC and charge pipes and the car is running great at 51K miles.
Iv had my 2017 f80 for over a year with 34k. I daily drive it, and i dont have any issues. Iv driven it pretty hard with stock crank hub. most of the problems comes if you dont take care of your car the proper way.

I think it's more on there driving style just avoid aggressive down shifts I'm full e85 for more then a year now zero issues and I roll race alot.. o recommend to fit the capture plate which prevents the crank hub bolt to come loose
hey bro i just recently went full e85 with a custom MHD tune. after a cold start do you have to let your car warm up for like 10 minutes? my shit will cut off if I try to drive it before then
@UpMostt well it's always good to warm up car but I have no issues after starting the car and driving only if the cars been sitting for like a week or 2 car might stall if I start it and drive off straight away but if I wait like 1 min it's fine

Great vid. All your vids are well explained which is great. But i have a couple small issues i can use your opinion on. 1 my M4 is tuned with MHD stage 2+ GTS transmission. I have catless downpipes from F8freaks, injen charge pipes, CTS intercooler, AFE momentum intakes. When I’m gasing from around 2000-4000 RPM my turbo spool sounds very crappy. Very raspy sound and not smooth and aggressive. Before i put the AFE’s on didn’t sound like that. So I’m wondering is it the intakes, could i need upgraded turbos, or will a catback exhaust cancel out the raspy sound? 2 I’m on my 2nd coolant tank. My original stock tank started seeping through the seem at the top usually after I’m going hard at around 90-120 mph. So I replaced it but im seeing similar issue but not as bad as the older one. Any solutions to this?
I’m so annoyed by the crankhub spinning discussion honestly. So many people say that extra power increases risk, and others say extra power doesn’t matter. People have had the crankhub spin without adding extra power. I honestly can’t tell how big of an issue it actually is. I’m just going to tune my car anyways and if it happens, it happens.
Those gaskets are NOT BMW issues, they are caused by the suppliers, namely Mahle aka Victor Reinz. Use aftermarket like Felpro etc where you can and save money and repair time at same time.
Really informative video as always. And I know what most people will say but I wanted your opinion, on this. Do you think the crank hub fix is necessary for stage 1 on my m2c? I don’t see myself going past stage 1 for a really long time, I don’t even really have the need to tune at all but I think it’s least want to try stage 1 😂
Its a gamble with anything past stock IMO. I had a stage 2 tune for 10,000 miles with no issues but doing the crank hub now as a precaution. Its all about your level of risk tolerance. A tune really wakes the turbos up and you will love it for sure.
This would have been much better if, instead of video of yourself waving vaguely at your very small laptop screen or external views of your M4, you actually had video under the hood and getting into some of the details. I also found it interesting that you selected a number of potential issues that are pretty much common with *any* car as it ages. Just didn’t find this to be very helpful, but I appreciate the effort.
My M4 had been in an accident at the time so I wasn't able to film with it in the background but it's pretty hard to visualize these issues even with just the hood popped open. Also, 3/5 issues I listed are pretty specific to the S55 engine and do not have any correlation with age of the vehicle.
My intercooler cracked and was leaking coolant internally on my 2015 m4 with 34k miles. This caused a misfire on the first and second cylinders. Luckily I have extended warranty so bmw replaced my intercooler for free but this is an issue. No matter the mileage.
Appreciate the great insight on these motors. Always wanted to know what to expect from this motors in the long run. Seems like a few plastic components will have to be swapped in order to keep the car long term. Great video mate! 👍
Awesome video dude! Quick question? What do you think about the crank hub capture? I’m getting that installed soon, and since I really don’t drive my car hard, in your opinion, how beneficial is a crank hub capture? I’m going to do the full crank hub in the future, but as of now I’m going with that method.
You can still spin the crank hub even with a fix like the crank bolt capture since the crank hub can still spin on the friction washer and that is unaffected by the crank bolt capture which only prevents the bolt from backing out
Hey man I ordered a Carbon Grille for my bmw m235i a week and a half ago and it still hasn’t arrived but the money went through. I’ve tried emailing you but I got no answer so I thought maybe you’d help me here
Jason Culaj Hey bro! i’m so sorry about this, can you shoot me a dm on instagram? @simplycarthings_ ill check on your order and if necessary refund you 👍🏼
Crank hub explanation is actually faulty. Sprockets spinning independently of eachother isnt the issue. The issue is the cam-chain sprocket spinning individualy of the hub itself, as the hub is on the crank. The oil-pump sprocket doesnt matter if it moves a bit, because it's not in on the engines timing at all. As for your explanation that the crankhub fails due to power are also complete BS! Are the cams heavier to drive with higher power output of the engine?! No.. They say it revs faster when tuned.. No, it doesnt rev faster than revving it in neutral anyway! Also it happens to loads of stock cars that bever hits the forums. Regular owners just putting their stock cars into the shop and have it fixed under warranty. Mostly the tuned guys are in the forums, hence "people say" this mostly happens to tuned cars. Happened to my stock M2C when hard braking and the DCT smacked itself into lower gear and high rev ripping the engine up in rpm. Not touching the accel pedal at all. BMW dealer had 5 stock cars the last months with faulty crankhub. All with the harsh dct. GTS gearbox føash is reccomended! Crank hub is identical as in the N55, but it also has a water pump and a heavier vibration damper fitted to it in the S55. Shitty patent they fixed in the B/S58 atleast but they will never admit it was a fault in the S55
Hey omar could i pay for your advice on my n55 335i, I have the abs light and tire pressure, also codes all over from that, I wanna hit this the right way
Really fuck with ur vids a lot great contents ,I have the 2018 M4 cp still under warranty do you recommend me to wait until that expires before I do BM3 tune or?
Yes I have FBO E85 custom tune on stock chargepipes and crank hub for almost 40k kms now and still running beautifully. However, mod at your own risk. Have heard of stories of it spinning on stock, CS tune, OTS pump maps and e85 maps
You should be safe but I have also heard of it spinning on bone stock cars. If you plan on modifying it further I highly recommend getting the hub upgraded. I spun mine and had to get it done
Ya. I’ve heard of SCH on stock cars...my second question to you guys, is with BM3, can I keep the original stock tune and still disable the CEL FOR THE Catless down pipes?...paying 4-6 grand for a CH job just isn’t in my budget at the moment. So trying to mod it as safely as possible, if that makes sense. Lol
Don't be nervous, but just know, if it has been modded in anyway, it was probably been beat up pretty good on the road or track. Since I've tuned my F82, I had to replace the intercooler, charge pipes, upgraded the spark plugs, crank hub (preventative measure) and differential mount.
Only problem is that hp has no more of an effect on the crank hub than it would on say an alternater or ac compressor. It has more to do with sudden changes in rpm than anything. This is why more often than not the people who have spun them have dct. Due to the extremely fast shift time and sudden and extreme changes in rpm that the hub can than spin.
These cars are not designed for Track , so if you are wanting to take a car on track regularly you will need to modify the Engines . Stock Cars just can’t handle track abuse
Simply Car Things well BMW will void the Warranty if we use them on tracks or competitive Motor racing . They are other wise a very cheap racing car . Unfortunately Racing Cars cost a lot more than a showroom car does . Also BMW state that their Cars are not designed for track use . Take that anyway you like .
@@stevenfoleyuk9404 True, alot of people dont realize almost no car sold on a showroom floor is or even near what a race car would be considered. Its even worse now adays where they do cheap tricks to make cars feel "track ready" like overly stiff suspension and throttle mapping. Exceptions for porsche and certain super cars ofc. But everything else will at the very minimum require brakes, fluid and tires just to enjoy on the track. Then proper suspension and engine modifications to ensure proper cooling and response. Even then itd be nothing compared to a cheap purpose build car. I love my m2 and plan on tracking it, but a cheap civic or miata that can handle abuse and not destroy tires seems very appealing.
from your experince moding a n54 and n55 and s55 , i am looking to make 600whp on either a single turbo 335is or s55 or find me a b58 with pure 800 turbo, which would you go with and why ? this is not a daily car
Go with the s55 it’s way more reliable will cost way less to repair and maintain and 600+ whp isn’t even a challenger for these motors, you wouldn’t even have to change out the bottom end maybe build up the top end a little and you can reliably run 600+ whp even on stock turbos if you wanted to. This is the greatest bmw motor ever made most reliable and easiest to make most power it is absolutely a no browner if you can afford it
It's amazing that a company like BMW can't figure out how to make an engine and related components not be an unreliable piece of sh*t. Great cars when they run, but got damn they'll cost you. Could have saved ton of money by using a god damn air-to-air intercooler and made it more reliable.
djsonicc But the a2w system is almost necessary on a car like this with its engine configuration. an air to air ic would heat soak unbelievably quick and lead to many more issues
the s55 is not a b58. kinda how like canada isnt america lol. but seriously th b58 is in all the ending in 40i cars like my 340i. s55 was for m cars m/3/m4/m2c

Whats GTS gearbox f@sh?

Hey omar could i pay for your advice on my n55 335i, I have the abs light and tire pressure, also codes all over from that, I wanna hit this the right way
Sure man! Hit me up on Instagram @simplycarthings_
@@SimplyCarThings cheers man, I Will start the process in August when shops open again
Really fuck with ur vids a lot great contents ,I have the 2018 M4 cp still under warranty do you recommend me to wait until that expires before I do BM3 tune or?
Bootmod3 has a “cs” tune that’s ots. You think it’s a safe tune for an m3 with no crank hub job?
Yes I have FBO E85 custom tune on stock chargepipes and crank hub for almost 40k kms now and still running beautifully. However, mod at your own risk. Have heard of stories of it spinning on stock, CS tune, OTS pump maps and e85 maps
You should be safe but I have also heard of it spinning on bone stock cars. If you plan on modifying it further I highly recommend getting the hub upgraded. I spun mine and had to get it done
Yes i think it’s safe 👍🏼
Lol
Master of Disaster Yes, you can do that. Once bm3 is configured on your car just run the stock map and it’ll automatically clear the cel
What's that picture of that bmw on the pc? I need it☺
it’s an M4 GT4 just a cool $150k race car 😅
Buying a 17 m4 with 60k miles and a bit nervous after watching this video lol
Jay Man23 Don’t be, they’re great cars mine has been amazing to own so far
Simply Car Things thanks. Crank hub hasnt been replaced on this one. Planning on keeping it stock crossing fingers nothing will go wrong
Stock Cars just can’t handle track abuse
huh? not sure that is an accurate statement
Anyone tell me what car is used in the thumbnail pic? The white M4? Anyone?
The beeps in the background are very annoying
Whats that sound?
So yes he’s correct but 3,
4 n 5 very rare
All the issues accure when ''tuned''.😅
Yo do you live in Temecula by chance 🤣 feel like I’ve seen you before lmao
yea i live in temecula haha, you've probly seen me then 😂
In Wildomar just got my m4 will be seeing you guy around :)
@@vinanguyen5918 i drive to lake Elsinore every week to see my gf. I hope to see m4s when I’m around the Temecula area 😡
Dive into*
from your experince moding a n54 and n55 and s55 , i am looking to make 600whp on either a single turbo 335is or s55 or find me a b58 with pure 800 turbo, which would you go with and why ? this is not a daily car
Is this S55 the b58? Like what the 440i has.
the s55 is not a b58. kinda how like canada isnt america lol. but seriously th b58 is in all the ending in 40i cars like my 340i. s55 was for m cars m/3/m4/m2c
Thanks for making this video I have a question I want to get a bmw m3 with lighting package but is it possible to add that to a car that doesn’t have that package ??? Sorry if that makes no sense
Are you talking about the Full LED adaptive headlights? if so then yes, you can retrofit them
Simply Car Things well not really I’m talking about the inside lighting that goes around the radio and doors... I just watched Tommy’s video on it and I never knew about that feature and people don’t really talk about I’m just trying to figure if it’s something that I can add/straight from bmw I’ll link the video

BRO WTF ARE THOSE NOTIFICATION
Sold my Supra and bought an m4
😭 thx Omar
Both cars probably drive very differently, what has been your impression of both so far?
Dang! that’s crazy to hear congrats on the M4 man!
Guillermo Lopez Supra was old but still very fun single turbo made all the noises but the ride quality was shit, m4 newer car fast cold ac and all the good electronics both 6 speed
Edit: Newer car will always be better in terms of practically and the Supra was old 25 years it never broke down but it did cross my mind
That background sound is so annoying
sorry! i’ll switch it up next time
No need to apologize, thanks so much for the content. Keep it up
Bto just say car’s reliability is dog shit and dont buy used and have 10k ready to drop on preventative part upgrades 💀
Wtf is wrong with you people? If you put that must fixes then m4 is going price wise to a better car section used.. F type r.. sl500.. 991 carrera and more
such stupid issues, wtf was BMW thinking?
Shitty design them gears should be attached to that mechanism why they are able to to move separately that absolutely stupid design what bmw is thinking all that damn money you have to spend. To buy a M series car
Utter bollox!…. I own a F82 M4 CS, F83M4 comp cab, never had any issues at all!
Both cars run 592bhp & 700 newton metres of torque…. Never had any issues at all.
Both have had the crank hubs done, that’s it!…. You I bought a shitter!
How about the DCT transmission any problem or issues with clutches or something?
