I’m gonna be honest when he first drafted it I was like “wtf is that card” and looked it up, and my first thought was it’s hot garbage. Then I see how he uses it with Urza and Tolarian and that card seriously pops off..
First game of the tiebreaker nearly had a heart-attack when he went to cast Mystic Confluence and had it set to double bounce and draw a card (while he had no cards in his library). The cursor hovered over the cast button for a second then his opponent conceded.
the way I was screaming "revoker turns off bankbuster crew!" while you were doing that insane hoof math in m2g3! haha big relief when you caught it! amazing video as always, love these drafts!
Great draft! Really cool deck, inspiring to watch as a cube builder and enthusiast. Love the positive vibes and excitement about the pick and the deck coming together - overall very engaging. Made me come back to the video to watch the last games I missed
Just looking at your opening turns of game 1 and I'm just cracking up. How does he always do this? He can't keep getting away with it! Lol! Never change, Luis.
With some of the new role cards I kind of want to see them with Serra's sanctum to get the third land thar can tap for a bunch. Maybe its not good enough yet but it's closer than in the past.
I haven't watched the whole video yet however a thought just occurred can you flash in Grist the hunger tide and not have to sacrifice it since it's no longer a creature?
I tried looking for rulings and came up empty (also tried Flash + Theros devotion Gods). I think you would still have to pay because at that point it is just looking for the same card and doesn’t specify creature again.
I've always been a green player and it's been great to see you drafting a lot of it lately. Looks like lands or artifacts are the way to go instead of traditional big mana :)
Artifact mana has always been busted over anything else in Vintage formats. Even before Academy was printed, people were doing dumb stuff with Mana Vault and whatnot.
Missed lethal game 1 of Match 4. If you just bounce the hamster and drew 2 cards with Confluence, any artifact you cast is lethal. And the next card was retrofitter. Maybe he saw that but wanted to keep up confluence in case he didn’t hit, but even if he doesn’t hit, he still kills M&B AND jace.
Not finished watching yet, but I'm really perplexed by LSV picking Bayou over Kinnan P3P11. I don't get it. I think Kinnan would be awesome in this shell.
at 27:15 you could have played cobra, played tolarian, used the 1 from cobra to play candle, tapped tolarian for 2, used that 2 to untap tolarian and breeding pool, then had access to 3 mana to play the buster
My thought in game two of the last match was lotus cobra, land, green suns for elvish reclaimer (since it's a 1/2 against w6 and the combo of cobra reclaimer still crews bust to kill jace), that way you can search out cradle, academy, or depths, especially with hoof in hand
interesting how your tastes in vintage cube have changed over the years - or how cards' relative power level has changed, to be precise. You definitely weren't a big fan of academy or cradle in older videos, it's cool to see them getting more shine now!
Whenever Luis shows us a card, we see nothing of it as his own face overlaps with it. Strange that no one is complaining. So I do. Please, Luis, move your picture anywhere else.
I don't think it makes sense to get Atraxa as long as Craterhoof is in the deck. Craterhoof requires very little setup to just immediately present turbo lethal combat damage so even if Craterhoof isn't quite lethal this turn it makes more sense to just pretend that Zenith is a Craterhoof and nothing else. Worst case opponent sweeps the board and kills Retrofitter then you can just cast it as Atraxa next turn anyway.
Funny that, in the very last game, if LSV didn't draw a land(turn he drew academy), Sam's aether channeler would have bounced the hexdriniker. Bouncing/killing a hexdrinker on 7 can be quite a swing.
Imagine taking your turn after an opponent has a resolved and healthy spread of jace the mind sculptor, Minsc and Boo, and wren and six and thinking... Yeah, that's not so bad. What's it like man? Haha 😂
I think it's because if you get enough explosive mana, Hexdrinker will win on the spot. Even as a 2/1, it's a quick beater coming down on turn one. If he has Academy and all three of his moxen, he can make a level 7 Hexdrinker on turn 2. Level 8 if you toss in Bauble or Candelabra. And there's even more busted options if you have something like Mana Vault, Sol Ring, etc.
I feel like the mindslaver would have been strong since you made enough mana to play and activate same turn. I know you didn't have academy but usually doing it once is enough to cripple an opponent.
I think it's because it's just too mana intensive. Once LSV is up to 10 mana, he can do dumb stuff with Green Sun's Zenith, Retrofitter, hardcast a fattie, etc. that also wins on the spot. The depths combo can randomly lose to instant speed removal, but so can Mindslaver if you have to tap out for it. Dunno, though. Would have been hilarious to watch LSV make an opponent Brainfreeze themselves or pay a bunch of life to reanimating away life in round 1.
When using Dark Depths / Thespian Stage combo, why does he leave in play the land without counters after "legend rule"? Could he not both keep original Dark Depths and get the token from stage which already triggers and can get sacrificed to legend rule?
I am fully convinced that if LSV won Worlds, he would just ask for Retrofitter Foundry with his face on it.
And it makes burrito tokens.
Retrofitter found me 1
legendary artifact
You have to pass this Card to LSV.
Move into artifacts and win every Game you Draw youre Combo pieces.
Retrofitter Founder
I’m gonna be honest when he first drafted it I was like “wtf is that card” and looked it up, and my first thought was it’s hot garbage. Then I see how he uses it with Urza and Tolarian and that card seriously pops off..
He’d ask for rift wing card
If a had a nickel every time luis drafted the retrofitter-cradle-academy deck, I'd have several nickels.
and I'll watch it every time
Misha's Bauble was a 0 mana "Literally sit on the battlefield and do nothing" artifact this draft and it was 10/10 every time.
There were a few moments where it was a Mox Sapphire with the ability to draw a card....seems OP 😄
@@nekrataali I'm sure at least once it was TWO Mox Sapphires, maybe even 3 depending how you count Candelabra :P
Love LSV’s energy in this video … in the happy place, excited about every pick and play
LSV the only guy to cast an honest flash and pay for the creature 😂
Sweet deck
I loved the moment where he realized “Oh, I can just pay for it!”
"were back on our bullshit again baby" had me in stiches.
First game of the tiebreaker nearly had a heart-attack when he went to cast Mystic Confluence and had it set to double bounce and draw a card (while he had no cards in his library). The cursor hovered over the cast button for a second then his opponent conceded.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this
He was a second from decking himself, I was so scared lol
I was also sweating that one.
Came here for this
Worldspine Wurm winning games despite never getting into play. Also kind of funny that he didn't draw the flash till the last match.
also loved wurm's absolute refusal to ever be anywhere *except* in hand up until that match, then went in hiding the one time LSV has flash
26:35: “Baleful Strix? Oh, you sweet summer child…”
LSV, your drafts are the best! This one in particular was a bomb!!
Are you seriously not intelligent enough to post timestamps?
the way I was screaming "revoker turns off bankbuster crew!" while you were doing that insane hoof math in m2g3! haha big relief when you caught it! amazing video as always, love these drafts!
The best titles on yt
Great draft! Really cool deck, inspiring to watch as a cube builder and enthusiast. Love the positive vibes and excitement about the pick and the deck coming together - overall very engaging. Made me come back to the video to watch the last games I missed
I absolutely love LSV drafting the green midrangy, nonsense piles with busted ways to cheat them into play. Always a joy to watch your content!
LSV bonus round??! What a time to be alive!!
These cube drafts with lsv on the steering wheel are mtg fine wine.
Just looking at your opening turns of game 1 and I'm just cracking up. How does he always do this? He can't keep getting away with it! Lol! Never change, Luis.
In a format full of busted cards, having busted lands too is kinda OP
I love how LSV is now a full-on green player 😂
Probably my favorite cube draft video, this was a wild ride.
I was also fooled by the black adventure card. It's a sorcery unfortunately :D TY for all the awesome videos and see you on the battlefield!
That deck was so fruking sweet.. I got second hand enjoyment watching you Tolarian AND Cradle for like 20 mana turn 4
“I don’t really want to add another color if I don’t have to.”
Who are you, and what have you done with Luis?
With some of the new role cards I kind of want to see them with Serra's sanctum to get the third land thar can tap for a bunch. Maybe its not good enough yet but it's closer than in the past.
I haven't watched the whole video yet however a thought just occurred can you flash in Grist the hunger tide and not have to sacrifice it since it's no longer a creature?
Wow that's a great question
I tried looking for rulings and came up empty (also tried Flash + Theros devotion Gods). I think you would still have to pay because at that point it is just looking for the same card and doesn’t specify creature again.
I don't think you messed up by not attacking karatedom with Reckoner Bankbuster at @43:50. Crew is an activated ability, so it was disabled.
I've always been a green player and it's been great to see you drafting a lot of it lately. Looks like lands or artifacts are the way to go instead of traditional big mana :)
I really thought he would have picked Rofellos, I was surprised how effective the artifact package is.
Artifact mana has always been busted over anything else in Vintage formats. Even before Academy was printed, people were doing dumb stuff with Mana Vault and whatnot.
That game 1 actually made me laugh out loud
I love to see cradle and Academy getting the respect they deserve from lsv nowadays
Finally a good live action Flash
Yeah, I really liked the Flash movie. It's not perfect, but funny goes a long way! Much better than I expected.
Look guys it was just a joke.
But if we don't defend a $200 million dollar movie, who will?
I love seeing LSV giddy playing cube 😂♥️
46:00 green sun into atraxa? Isn’t just better?
This is such a cool deck. You keep outdoing yourself every day!
Thanks for renewing my enthusiasm to MTG.
AWARDS OF THE DRAFT
MVP - Tolarian Academy
Overperformer - Reckoner Bankbuster
Biggest miss - Hydroid Krasis
Never played - Worldspine Wurm
Hearing that clinking at 1:15:20 really messed with me. It’s 2am and I straight up thought that was coming from outside my room
Greatest Cube so far... that was so much fun!
Every time I see lsv draft cradle, academy, retrofitter, I hoot and holler irl
No turn 1 Worldspine Wurm? How unlucky......
46:00 why do not just green sun's for atraxa?
When is the last time blue green was this good, great games. Thank you.
Semi-pro genitus carrying that last game
Life//death + Gaea’s Cradle would have been a cute interaction (although I understand why you didn’t take it)
This deck is like an 8-year-old with a 6-pack of Surge at 3 in the morning. My god.
What a treat of a video! Great games
WE'RE BACK ON OUR BS BABY 😂 Love this draft.
Not finished watching yet, but I'm really perplexed by LSV picking Bayou over Kinnan P3P11. I don't get it. I think Kinnan would be awesome in this shell.
Thank you for the vintage! Any more Eldraine drafts coming soon?
Love the content. Enjoyed the draft. LOVE the title.
at 27:15 you could have played cobra, played tolarian, used the 1 from cobra to play candle, tapped tolarian for 2, used that 2 to untap tolarian and breeding pool, then had access to 3 mana to play the buster
46:30 no thought of GSZ for Atraxa?
I like that Flash was the name of the video, and it was very nearly the least impactful card in the deck!
23:19 "we're back on are bullshit baby!"
My thought in game two of the last match was lotus cobra, land, green suns for elvish reclaimer (since it's a 1/2 against w6 and the combo of cobra reclaimer still crews bust to kill jace), that way you can search out cradle, academy, or depths, especially with hoof in hand
Of all the drafts to do a bonus match this was a good one!
Last pick wildfire is often my experience with wildfire in cube as well
interesting how your tastes in vintage cube have changed over the years - or how cards' relative power level has changed, to be precise. You definitely weren't a big fan of academy or cradle in older videos, it's cool to see them getting more shine now!

That game 1 was nuts
Am i wrong for taking fastbond over time walk? If I am then I dont wanna be right
45:00 Green suns for Atraxa?
No? It draws a bunch of cards but craterhoof wins the game next turn
Whoa noticed g1 of tiebreaks Luis almost misclicking to draw a Card with confluence and 0 cards in library and Phil conceding right before that hehe
Haha 😂
52:06, LSV thinking like an edh player
If you open 2 pieces of power for P1P1, how much do the other 13 cards in the pack affect your pick?
There are a few non-power cards that you could consider - mana crypt, minsc and boo etc.
What a sick draft!
What an absolutely bonkers first game lol
Flash just the way Garfield intended it
I really wanted you to try that later pick Kinnan
Game 1 was a happy place for sure.
What about Hexdrinker that LSV likes the card this much and picks it as his 4th card? What changed?
I think it's because if you get enough explosive mana, Hexdrinker will win on the spot. Even as a 2/1, it's a quick beater coming down on turn one. If he has Academy and all three of his moxen, he can make a level 7 Hexdrinker on turn 2. Level 8 if you toss in Bauble or Candelabra.

@@nekrataali finished the video. YEP Hexdrinker good card
I feel like the mindslaver would have been strong since you made enough mana to play and activate same turn. I know you didn't have academy but usually doing it once is enough to cripple an opponent.
Feels like mindslaver might be better in game 4 than the depths combo?

Dunno, though. Would have been hilarious to watch LSV make an opponent Brainfreeze themselves or pay a bunch of life to reanimating away life in round 1.
Absolutely great title, also holy hell this deck is sweet
My new favorite deck is academy cradle.
When using Dark Depths / Thespian Stage combo, why does he leave in play the land without counters after "legend rule"? Could he not both keep original Dark Depths and get the token from stage which already triggers and can get sacrificed to legend rule?
It has to be specifically sac'ed to the ability to get the token. If you sac it to legend rule first, you don't sac it to itself.
@@ContainsIt Ah, thanks, I guess the "If you do" part makes it be that way.
That wasnt actually phil hellmuth was it?
How does he keep getting away with it?
wonderful draft
virtue of persistance is a sorcery. :P
That title though. lmfao
Never mess with jujubeanz
Luis "Retrofitter Foundry" Scott-Vargas
love this deck
Did you watch the Flash?
I just got to deck building: I really want to see someone die to Palantiering the Worldspine Wurm
This deck was sick
Probably in the minority, but I'd love some more Wilds drafts.
Well, this wasn't the best video on which to post this comment, as this draft is gas.
Your title game keeps evolving lmao
We’re back on our bullshit baby 😂
Guys I saw the dog I finally saw the dog
Just wanted to put it out there
What a filthy game 1.
Love ❤ me some bonus round :D
All this time and HE STILL HASNT SHOWN US THE DOG!
#WHERESJULIE
#JULIEDOESNTEXIST
Get a mox that isn’t Emerald challenge (IMPOSSIBLE!)
This is a stacked team
I think True Name Nemesis is my least favourite Magic card ever printed
What a deck!
Only saying this because I'm an LOTR nerd. But Orthanc rhymes with tank
