Probably the most American metal line ever: *"Let freedom ring with a shotgun blast!*"

Try renting an M2A1 or a Barrett .50 cal. Now that's America... except we only allow the state to own such weapons because freedom doesn't really exist here. We are all slaves to the state. Still, a lot of fun.

Now imagine actually buying "Burn my Eyes" with you hard earned cash, putting the CD in you Discman, pressing play and your head head explodes because Davidian is the heaviest song ever! True Story.

+Squid Tickler well, i'll tell you this:
i knew machine head 4 years ago through guitar hero metallica and then bought the blackening, having listened to only one song.
i forgot about them for a while and then in july this year i found bloodstone & diamonds, from which i heard nothing at that moment
i bought 2 of their albums knowing few or nothing. no regrets.

I have a similar story, I heard this song on a college radio station around '96 or '97 (I was in the 8th grade or a freshman) and used to record songs I liked on to a cassette tape. I only caught the end of the song though, all I had was the brutal coda. Never found out who the band actually was. Then about a year or two later, I hear about this Machine Head band, and like you, just bought the CD without really knowing anything about it (back then, Roadrunner put out only quality stuff so you really couldn't go wrong.) Put the CD in, Davidian blew my mind, and then when that familiar punishing outro came on, I think I ascended to another dimension.

    "Davidian"
    Blind man ask me forgiveness
    I won't deny myself
    Disrespect you have given
    Your suffering's my wealth
I feed off pain, force fed to love it
    And now I swallow whole
I'll never live in the past
Let freedom ring with a shotgun blast
Burn my fist to the concrete
    My fear is my strength
    Power, rage unbound because
    Been pounded by the streets
Cyanide blood burns down the skyline
    Hatred is purity
    The bullet connects at last
Let freedom ring with a shotgun blast
    Scarred
Pour the salt in the wound
    Unscarred

Tho I agree that Heartwork is a masterpiece.

When The Kite String Pops (Acid Bath) 1994
      Symbolic (Death) 1995
      The Gallery (Dark Tranquility) 1995
      Metropolis Pt.2 (Dream Theater) 1999
      Continuum (Prototype) 2006

Machine Head is an American heavy metal band from Oakland, California. The band was formed in 1991 by vocalist/guitarist Robb Flynn and bassist Adam Duce. The band's aggressive musicianship made it one of the pioneering bands in the new wave of American heavy metal, and it is also considered to be part of the second wave of thrash metal bands from the 1990s. Machine Head's current lineup comprises Flynn, bassist Jared MacEachern, guitarist Wacław Kiełtyka and drummer Matt Alston. Duce, guitarists Logan Mader, Ahrue Luster and Phil Demmel, and drummers Tony Costanza, Chris Kontos and Dave McClain

In 1997, Machine Head opened up for Pantera and performed at Nautica Pavilion in Cleveland. I ran all over the pavilion and thrashed about to this and other songs by the great bands on the bill. Machine Head would headline occasionally; but they usually toured with other headliners. They opened up with Coal Chamber a lot then. I saw them four times over the years and want to return to their concerts. They sell out venues now.

I agree wholeheartedly. Everything about this song is perfect: those tuned-down guitars with the skull-crushing tone, Robb's menacing growl and of course, the aggressive, complex and air-tight drumming by Chris Kontos. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, it ends with one of the most awesome metal riffs ever, delivering a slow, but brutal finishing blow.

Road Rage Tour with Chimera, Ill Nino and Fear Factory. I stumbled into this concert drunk, I walked out sober. Tequila pregame, few rounds at the bar across the street, few more in the venue. Walked out sober but essentially beat up. I remember that I could not move the next day. As well as the day after. I also got hit in the face with a broken drumstick. That was one hell of a concert. One of the best ones I have ever been to.

Out of everyone who was in this video, Flynn is the only one who is still a part of Machine Head. Still don't think he's aged since this video was shot.
And guess what Folks: Less than 6 months until the 20th anniversery of Burn My Eyes!

Yeah, he was fired back in February. Flynn said he lost his passion for the music and that the progress MH made wasn't good enough for him.
They seem to be gelling well w/ their new bassist Jared McEachern.
