  • Building my first SLI "old school" gaming PC from the fastest consumer parts you could buy in 2006. Some parts in this build is newer, but the performance is all 2006! MSRP over $3000 (adjusted for inflation: $4400).
    Parts used is in the video.
    Music:
    Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio "Miami Sky",
    Nash Music Library "Long Size"
    The Sims: Urbz in the City "King Tower"
    Intro theme from Duke Nukem 3D
    Final Fantasy VII "Fanfare"

      My final sli was a gtx460 before I stopped doing it. Cheaper and faster than a 480. But it got out performed by a single 650 ti, so it was time to stop buying 2 cards ever couple of gens and just buy a higher sku gpu

    I like how the blue LEDs make the orange in the heatsink look like it's bright hot, just screams the aesthetics of the time, and it was just when import tuner cars were a thing as well lol

    I remember I bought a 9800gt at best buy so I could get the newly implemented shadows to work in WoW. Totally worth it. used that and a Amd Phenom triple core 8450 all the way up until 2014.

    Love the heatsinks on the memory kits - so unnecessary but so badass

    So old school hardwares , reminds me of my Dreaming-PC (Never came true) back then. SLI was a dream for 2000s gamer. Nice vid.
    btw , i was owned this Zalman cpu cooler but in Nvidia edition. So nostalgia. And F.E.A.R is still a very fun FPS is 2022.

    Forgot to add.... I did not see any thermal paste applied... was that paste already on the Zalman? Loved your choice of case, as well as the Plextor/ Creative external look. And with that, I think it is time for me to grab a whisky.

    • @paulp9270
      @paulp9270  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The paste was evenly applied on the cpu, but difficult to see in the video :)

      After reading some articles and testing for myself, i think its safe to say SLI is sub optimal as a whole (at least for the money).
