What broke Frieza was Goku saying “I’m done, I’m done fighting you. I’m bored. YOU’RE BORING ME” and then literally flying off. Frieza has never been dismissed like that in his life; on the contrary, he was the one dismissing others while they feared him. Frieza has a hatred for Goku because of this specific part. Where Goku made it clear he was superior, and that Frieza was nothing to him anymore.
He would rather be hated & hunted by his enemies than ignored. He considers himself to be the most important life form in the universe, the most powerful being, an emperor who rules hundreds of planets, armies, etc. Goku doesn't give a crap. He fought him for fun, beat him, & he's bored now. That is the greatest blow to Freeza's pride anyone has ever delivered
The comment from Nail to Piccolo after their fusion, that he should "Fade away into your subconscious... supposedly." Was TFS' way of being able to stop the running "mindvoice" thing with Nail and Piccolo if it got too stale. It ended up being one of the best, most clever parts of the entire series.
This series slowly evolved from just a fun series to watch to an actual series that made it feel like I was watching the original show. The emotions between Goku and Frieza were literally out of this world, and even after all the evil stuff he's done, Goku still helps him

Popo's attitude in this series is actually incredibly accurate to his first appearance in OG Dragon Ball. I don't know if that was TFS' intention but it worked out pretty well for them. Popo in Z becomes...well, a slave. Sadly.

Just an FYI, Frieza's final form is actually his true form. The forms he had before were when he suppressed his power, so when he reached his 100% final form (buff form) it's what he looks like when he isn't suppressing his power
His 50% form is his natural form, 100% is powered up like how every other character can, and SPOILER : Golden Frieza is also a power up like super saiyan

It's 50% of his "maximum" power output but that doesn't mean that the other 50% is something that has to be actively suppressed, it just means he's able to power up his body to (temporarily) double his power output. He can't sustain it for very long without it taking a toll on him and his power level starts decreasing, so it wouldn't make sense for the buffed-up form to be his natural full power. It makes more sense to be a forced boost. It's not an unusual thing in Dragon Ball for characters to forcibly increase their power like that. Look at Roshi, it's literally the same thing. You wouldn't assume Roshi is constantly suppressing his buffed form right? He just knows how to built his power up to boost his maximum output temporarily.
No. His true form is his base form. The body changes by changing your ki higher. The body changes to accommodate the new power in the body. They are not suppressing there power. The way you can tell it's not suppressing is because they aren't using a tool like in other animes, and if they were suppressing their power it wouldn't take so much time or effort to get to that level

Gonna add to this as I get into the episode, because if I don't do it that way I'll forget what I was gonna say. So Goku's "hope of the Omniverse" speech was a comedic version of one of the earlier dubs. They made Goku more heroic for the American audience. Originally, he just gave a speech about who he was. The original Dub line was as thus: I am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good ! Nightmare to You!! I like the heroic version, especially the end of it, but the original version that gets used when they redid it to better match up to the original version, and the manga.
So Frieza getting slapped has a call back to episodes, I believe 28. Goku tried to buy time asking to play 20 questions. Goku in this episode slaps Frieza *20 times.* It gets counted with the Canadian subtitles.
in general the anime made goku into a hero which Toriyama didn't like. he straight up said in an interview that at his core goku doesn't really care about anything but fighting and getting stronger

The dragon is only as powerful as it’s creator. If someone is more powerful than the creator, he has power over it and can even kill it if he wants to. Since goku is a super saiyan his power level is probably way more than purunga so he can tell him no.

In DragonBall during Goku's battle with "Jacky Chun" no body was able to see them move for the first few seconds while Goku and his opponent were able to exchange blows and play rock-paper-scissors. So it's likely that it feels like time is slowed down from their POV and the only "real-time" is when the person fighting has dialog.
Many people try to explain the 5 minutes thing that way, but there is still an issue. If you removal all "fight scenes" of Goku & Freeza punching, firing energy beams, or flying around super fast, & just play the scenes where they are standing around looking at each other talking...it is still WAY over 5 minutes

It's so fun to watch you discover this series that has given me joy since 2008. DBZA is my Christmas tradition nowadays. As good as season 2 is, just wait for season 3; it's even better across the board: writing, voice acting, and production. It's funnier, with a stronger emotional punch.

At 25:29 really they didn’t think goku could cut Freeza in half, by this point he had murdered an entire army and ripped a hole threw piccolo SR with his own body, so not really a stretch to cut Freeza in half.
So fun fact. In the original dbz while Goku is fighting freiza, Bulma actually gets her body stolen by Ginyu (as a frog) and if I remember correctly Gohan has to get her body back and Ginyu ends up as a frog again. Also Goku pretty much just says no he doesn't want to come back yet. Dbza did it pretty much the same.
30:41: She went From a baseball superstar to a jobless man. Also Yamcha never cheated, Bulma was just jealous of how popular with girls Yamcha was. Toriyama needed a female earthling for Trunks, so he just decided to use Bulma. Vegeta x Bulma started pretty random in the manga, they were literally strangers but with a kid, Toriyama did way better in Majin Bu Saga and Super with this couple, making it from the absolutely worst to the best marriage in the series, with an amazing chemestry between them. But it was not the best way to start it, in my opinion. All other couples, even Kale x Caulifla, for how much of a cliché couple is, have better introduction than Vegeta and Bulma.

The fight was "five minutes" over those several episodes. They move and fight at speeds so fast we couldn't comprehend it if it showed it at real time. Which I find funny because I believe it's the longest fight in anime history. I think it's over an hour.

In fact, according to the Dragon Ball wiki, there is no stated time limit on Purunga's resurrection abilities. Also, Shenron's restrictions can be removed as well, depending on the power of his current creator, so none of his rules are necessarily permanent.
This is the very first time I've seen somebody react appropriately to the Namekian children learning strip poker. Every other reaction of these episodes I've seen, people seem to either not notice, or just disregard that line like it's nothing.

ishinobi, you need to watch the DBZA movies and episodes of Bardock. There are jokes in the abridged episodes that reference the movies and vice versa, so they need to be watched in (abridged) order.

Nappa never came back in the original series. Technically Vegeta and the other two Saiyans were never truly loyal to Frieza and so never counted as "his men"... That's the way I interpret that anyway 😅😂

Bulma didn't have any kind of adventure that led to that, she's just hanging out (ha!) trying to survive as the planet breaks apart. 15:30 Yes, he is referencing Goten. As in, he got kicked in the nuts. You know... where Goten came from. :P 30:15 Yes, Yamcha and Bulma dated back in the original series before DBZ. And yes, Yamcha kept cheating on Bulma and they broke up. 37:30 Goku did say no to the dragon. The thing the Abridged series doesn't mention is that the Super Saiyan transformation is fueled by rage, making it very difficult to control when you first achieve it. Goku barely held back from attacking Gohan just for not immediately listening to him. It's something of a berserker state. So Goku wanted to train with it far away from anyone he cared about, until he was sure he could easily control it and not hurt anyone without meaning to. And, of course, he was learning another technique from the natives, which you'll see later. Oh, plus he kinda crash landed on that planet, so the natives were fixing his ship for him too.

Just an FYI, Frieza's final form is actually his true form. The forms he had before were when he suppressed his power, so when he reached his 100% final form (buff form) it's what he looks like when he isn't suppressing his power
His 50% form is his natural form, 100% is powered up like how every other character can, and SPOILER : Golden Frieza is also a power up like super saiyan

It's 50% of his "maximum" power output but that doesn't mean that the other 50% is something that has to be actively suppressed, it just means he's able to power up his body to (temporarily) double his power output. He can't sustain it for very long without it taking a toll on him and his power level starts decreasing, so it wouldn't make sense for the buffed-up form to be his natural full power. It makes more sense to be a forced boost.
It's not an unusual thing in Dragon Ball for characters to forcibly increase their power like that. Look at Roshi, it's literally the same thing. You wouldn't assume Roshi is constantly suppressing his buffed form right? He just knows how to built his power up to boost his maximum output temporarily.
No. His true form is his base form. The body changes by changing your ki higher. The body changes to accommodate the new power in the body. They are not suppressing there power. The way you can tell it's not suppressing is because they aren't using a tool like in other animes, and if they were suppressing their power it wouldn't take so much time or effort to get to that level

Toriyama himself made this pun as well as the other members of his family being based on cold related stuff (his brother Cooler and his father king Cold). So TFS kept the joke basically implying that Goku just read the name wrong

So Goku's "hope of the Omniverse" speech was a comedic version of one of the earlier dubs. They made Goku more heroic for the American audience. Originally, he just gave a speech about who he was.
The original Dub line was as thus: I am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good ! Nightmare to You!!
I like the heroic version, especially the end of it, but the original version that gets used when they redid it to better match up to the original version, and the manga.
So Frieza getting slapped has a call back to episodes, I believe 28. Goku tried to buy time asking to play 20 questions. Goku in this episode slaps Frieza *20 times.* It gets counted with the Canadian subtitles.
in general the anime made goku into a hero which Toriyama didn't like. he straight up said in an interview that at his core goku doesn't really care about anything but fighting and getting stronger

The dragon is only as powerful as it’s creator. If someone is more powerful than the creator, he has power over it and can even kill it if he wants to. Since goku is a super saiyan his power level is probably way more than purunga so he can tell him no.

You'd be surprised at how emotional TFS makes the abridged series much later while still keeping the core comedic base. They're really good writers.

In DragonBall during Goku's battle with "Jacky Chun" no body was able to see them move for the first few seconds while Goku and his opponent were able to exchange blows and play rock-paper-scissors. So it's likely that it feels like time is slowed down from their POV and the only "real-time" is when the person fighting has dialog.
Many people try to explain the 5 minutes thing that way, but there is still an issue. If you removal all "fight scenes" of Goku & Freeza punching, firing energy beams, or flying around super fast, & just play the scenes where they are standing around looking at each other talking...it is still WAY over 5 minutes

At 25:29 really they didn’t think goku could cut Freeza in half, by this point he had murdered an entire army and ripped a hole threw piccolo SR with his own body, so not really a stretch to cut Freeza in half.
So fun fact. In the original dbz while Goku is fighting freiza, Bulma actually gets her body stolen by Ginyu (as a frog) and if I remember correctly Gohan has to get her body back and Ginyu ends up as a frog again. Also Goku pretty much just says no he doesn't want to come back yet. Dbza did it pretty much the same.

Toriyama needed a female earthling for Trunks, so he just decided to use Bulma.
Vegeta x Bulma started pretty random in the manga, they were literally strangers but with a kid, Toriyama did way better in Majin Bu Saga and Super with this couple, making it from the absolutely worst to the best marriage in the series, with an amazing chemestry between them.
But it was not the best way to start it, in my opinion.
All other couples, even Kale x Caulifla, for how much of a cliché couple is, have better introduction than Vegeta and Bulma.

In fact, according to the Dragon Ball wiki, there is no stated time limit on Purunga's resurrection abilities. Also, Shenron's restrictions can be removed as well, depending on the power of his current creator, so none of his rules are necessarily permanent.
This is the very first time I've seen somebody react appropriately to the Namekian children learning strip poker. Every other reaction of these episodes I've seen, people seem to either not notice, or just disregard that line like it's nothing.

The thing the Abridged series doesn't mention is that the Super Saiyan transformation is fueled by rage, making it very difficult to control when you first achieve it. Goku barely held back from attacking Gohan just for not immediately listening to him. It's something of a berserker state. So Goku wanted to train with it far away from anyone he cared about, until he was sure he could easily control it and not hurt anyone without meaning to. And, of course, he was learning another technique from the natives, which you'll see later. Oh, plus he kinda crash landed on that planet, so the natives were fixing his ship for him too.
Also it is a good plot twist & keeps the audience in suspense wondering where he is, how he survived, & what he's up to.
