The funny thing is the run itself was not 5 hours but the stream itself was infact nearly 5 hours long (literally 4 hours and 55 minutes) due to the amount of time it took for him to implement each hud element so he wasn't even lying about it taking 5 hours

the old runescape hud right off the bat was amazing, could have done the transparent chatbox instead of getting rid of that whole part then make it where chat messages were in the same font as if they were player messages from the game.

Whenever you think a HUD is cluttered, just remember Doug needed to use at least 25 HUDS for this speedrun which is faster then most non speedrunners.
Doug was trying to collect health bars in the way to beat the boss, but didn't realize that getting so many meant the turned into the boss.
I'm going to be INCREDIBLY disappointed if Mario Odyssey 2 doesn't contain Miyamoto and his Gunicorn as the final boss

Need to say the moment when Doug almost ended the run then realized that he had to add yet another HUD element was the funniest thing I've seen in a while, that absolutely sent me.
Doug also had to leave the race to come and enjoy the addition of HUD, which has been exhausting for a long time.
But in reality, you saw that Tetris screen, and you know pretty much ALL OF IT remains. I guarantee if he got that first, he would have actually included more of the HUD to the point of it being MUCH worse than Runescape.

This is pretty much what its like to play an MMO with HUD addons
It made me so happy that Risk of Rain 2 got chosen so early on, so people were able to scream at him throughout the whole run to charge the damn teleporter already. Also, I can't believe he would lie to us by saying he's pushing the payload when clearly, he's playing scout, and the HUD would say 2x if he was actually pushing it.

Someone needs to make this a game. Like an action rpg where every level up you get much stronger, but your HUD gets busier too.
This is just any MMO
But like have every 5th level up add a Tamagotchi, so it’s like you’re building Exodia or some shit, then the final boss (the amalgamation of your pets) jumps off of your HUD and into the empty room you were in, which is now the final boss room.
I mean, cruelty squad is kinda close. The game was designed to be as busy and ugly as possible, and some of the "upgrades" just end up covering half the screen.
I know Halo CE had a skull where a random HUD element would be disabled with each death. A hard reverse of that would have been hilarious
Play TOME as an adventurer and pick a new spellcasting school every time you can. It doesn't cover the screen like this but by the end you'll have 12 different mana types.

This would be a really interesting mod if you could make the additional HUDs actually reflect the gamestate in some way. Have the health bars actually show Mario's health, have the _RuneScape_ inventory show what moons and clothes you have, etc.
It would be utter hell to program, though.
Despite the difficulty of the programming, I believe it would be incredibly comical to many people including me if he took damage and a varying amount health bars just happened to deplete due to severe amounts of physical damages, these health bars come from games that are chosen from a wheel spun every five minutes, and whatever game it lands on gets portions of their HUD added to the screen, eventually building up and blinding the screen. this is because of a challenge a streamer/TH-camr known as DougDoug, who is known for doing hard or wacky challenges to make games more interesting, unique, and overall harder.
