Phoney is one of the best love/hate characters you'll ever find. He's an unashamed crook who has the best reactions when his schemes go wrong, but that fraction of humanity balances him out, even if by just a little.
Bone single-handedly instilled a craving for soft stinky cheese in me. Growing up, European/American food wasn't too easy to find in my country. I ended up going to the UK to study when I graduated high school, where on my first grocery run I bought myself some cheese and tried to recreate the ham tart.
Oh! I remember reading an issue of Bone! During my years in junior high, it was just sitting in a classroom one day, so I picked it up and started reading, and I was immediately drawn in by the idea of including cartoon characters and regular humans in one setting!
2023 release wow wtf. You gotta give Smith credit, his style hasn't changed a bit. Many artists who were big in their hayday seemed to have degraded in style a bit as they aged, I'm glad he's as sharp with an ink brush as ever
I freaking loved bone growing up. It was more mature series, so my kid self loved being able to read it when the books was at my school library. I have all the bone books myself , and read them quite often. It's a wonderful series I recommend to many! I flipping love the rat creatures, those guys are my fav lol
Thanks for covering this , Bone does not get enough love. The premise of " silly cartooncharacters in a more realistic graphic novel world" can be offputting to some but its done very well. Hope it gets an animated adaptation, (P.S. to the author: why did you not make them brothers ? Then they'd be the "bone brothers". Great story ofcourse, love it . but thats my one pet peeve)
Hey thanks for explaining all this. I did come across this at some point. I think it may have been some kind of short comic like from free comic book day or a wizard magazine. I don’t remember. I couldn’t get into it, though. Looks like it would have potential as a cartoon. Now that I’ve heard a good explanation of it, it gives me a vibe for lord of the rings.
This was a great video man 💯% aftet i finished the original series i was still fully in on the characters & was hard to say bye to & i wanted to read more about what happened to all the characters that made it through so now im gonna be getting more tall tales & probably the quest for the spark because i want to be entrenched in the worls agaian as i was years ago & not know whats gonna probably happen on the next page ❤ i just finished the OG series again & the stand alone rose book
yea man, i absolutely love your content. The Maxx was very cool. There was even an MTV animated series that took the first 10 issues of the comic and made it a show. it was REALLY cool. Anyway, i'll be looking forward to more of your content and i'll be checking out the Bone series for myself now. Thanks so much@@Chuey_TV
I am interested in the topic, but i clicked the video and your audio is too low quality for me to watch this. good luck in the future. Always been curious about Bone.
I know this was very hyped and then pretty cheap to get in a single omnibus (apparently not anymore). But then it was pretty boring. Don't overhype things.
It really hurts me this series can't catch a break and get a good animated adaption, it really does. It seemed like it's biggest chance was Netflix until they canned it. I grew up with these books as a kid. I still like reading them to this day. I would kill to see the story and characters get animated with actual voices behind them. It would be a dream come true for me more than the original creator of the series as this point lol

It took me years to figure this out -
Bone = Mickey
Phoney = Donald
Smiley = Goofy
Wow mind blown 🧠🤯
Rrrroque Ja, not Rock jaw. You're not rolling the "R".

My two favorite graphic novels growing up were Bone and Elf Quest: The Grand Quest. Both are masterpieces of art and storytelling.
Met Jeff Smith when he did a presentation at a local college around a decade ago. Very nice guy, and a great speaker.

Bone is my favorite piece of media ever. Nothing will ever quite top it for me
I read these in middle school

Man I still need to get the full set. I love this series so much
This is absolutely one of the greatest stories of my childhood. Imo it was under appreciated. Wish the ending was different though.
What do you think would have made it better?
@@TheYigafooWisperer should’ve never gone back to Boneville
@@b4foodOh, gotcha
