  • In this weeks episode Jody and Alex take a look behind the design and show how we engineered our custom passenger seat.
It's not the destination, it's how you get there and who you get there with. A tough design process using carefully selected alloys aligned with a thorough 3 week stress test analysis and we finally have ourselves the perfect touring touring bike ready for you and a passenger!

£4000+?!! Holy hell... It's almost half the price of the bike! I mean, it's a beautiful piece and I'm sure a lot of time and effort went into that development and all. But that price tag is insane!

Right!? Triumph should have this solution on their accessories list for the Bobber, it would 'solve' the cost issue.
Now the solo seat is the only reason I'm not considering the Bobber as my next motorcycle.

First off the design is absolutely wonderful. What would your thoughts be on adding a sissy bar to the very back? Something that would be old school looking, obviously to suit the look of the bobber. Obviously having it be bolt on so it could be removed if thebrider wanted to.

Hey Jody & Alex, this is an awesome effort and great way to show the engineering know how that you guys are putting into the tolerances of the parts you are creating. I am 100% showing this vid to my A level design students, that and the one on the sat nav mounting. Loving the backflip test, reminds me of the Mous case series of ‘real world’ testing - great to get people noticing stuff before then explaining the more technical analysis. I love geeking out on this stuff. I know it takes a while to pull all this sort of stuff together, but would love even more detail. I hope Triumph and the Bloor guys do recognise the work for your sake and I think regardless of people’s individual opinions on aesthetics of a bobber as a solo ride, we all want to take our customised motorcycles in new directions and you guys deserve all the support you can get. If I wasn’t a poor teacher I’d so be having one of your rides! But will get the bits I can afford in the meantime. Cheers and keep up the hard work.

I don't even own a Triumph, but always enjoy watching the channel. It's the designing of products like this that make it so interesting. Amazing looking product. Seeing as it doesn't attach on/off, I think my preference would be to opt for the Speedmaster. I can see why safety means having it detachable is an issue, but.. Personally i'd only want to use it occasionally. If this was safe and detachable i'd be honestly throwing my wallet at you. That said, it's a joy to watch your innovation.

Good to see the use of proper engineering design incorporating the aesthetic design to get a great product. Nice work guys. It does look decisively more solid than the Thai & Vietnamese shops that came up with similar.
Just a question regarding design styles. Do you think you would try another version that could also utilise the bracket just maybe with a slight modification? Similar to a dual solo seat in tandem. Something that would be more substantial, something that would be more fitting unfortunately to the size gluteus that today’s women sport. It just would be nice to see a CAD or a render of that to see if it kept the overall look of the original.
The wheel arch looks a little large/strange maybe due to the camera angles. But it gives a slight sport bike esque look to the profile with the new pillion seat.
Also, will these be available via your store as a kit? That international customers could purchase?
