I've had my Super Retrocade since June, 2018 and it has worked like a champ. I added HUNDREDS of classic 80's arcade games with artwork on SD cards. I just loaded as many as I could from the Old Classic Retro Gaming playlists and some favorite console games. I've never been a fan of D-pads so I ordered a pair of USB compatible Sanwa JLF-8YT joysticks complete with wires, buttons, and encoders and built a control panel using tutorials I found on TH-cam. The Super Retrocade won't play vector graphics games from MAME but I was able to find some NES\SNES\Genesis ports that come close enough. It works everytime I fire it up and hasn't given me any trouble so far. For a total of $220, including the console itself and the Sanwa kit, I have pretty nice retro gaming system with about 800 classic arcade titles that hooks right up to any HDMI tv.

Retro-bit doesn't list a physical address anywhere on their website. Not surprised their quality control sucks.

My first console had HDMI issues. It just wouldn't work properly. I had to hook it up to my CRT TV in order to play. It worked fine once I did that but this machine's main selling point is to play old school games in HD. There's really no excuse for the poor quality control. I'm expecting my replacement on Thursday. I'm really hoping that one doesn't have issues as well.
Shawn Redfield Mine is also having issues, I need to send it back, turn it on and it goes between black screen and occasional white snow.
@@markcerny1579 Mark Cerny 37 years later reply lol but I did get my replacement shortly after I returned it and it's been smooth sailing ever since. I love this console. The ability to add roms and the game art is awesome. Now there's a newer version 1.1 that allows a few more consoles to be played.
I'm loving the Super Retro-cade. I've got about 1,800 games on an SD card ESPECIALLY the one's on the "Old Classic Retro Gaming" playlist. There's even a joystick controller that's readily available, not too expensive ($35-$40 bucks depending on the source), plugs right in and works out of the box. If you're into retro gaming and don't have an unlimited budget to spend then Super Retro-cade is definitely a great way to go.

I've been wanting so badly to see somebody show what happens with the sd card in the menu. Also thank you for showing that you can add artwork! Nobody got me this for Christmas so as soon as I pay January bills I'm buying it. I will watch for them not working and pins falling off, lol- what the hell! But when it works, this is incredible! The fact it plays arcade roms is insane! I live an hour from Galloping Ghost arcade with 600+ freeplay. I would love to bring a pen to there and write down what I want to play at home. Food Fight, NARC, Moonwalker, just to name a few. Thanks for the review!
Grats on your daughter being born! I saw your hospital band. I mentioned my 3rd daughter was due in late January on another one of your videos that you mentioned you were expecting soon. Seems to have 2GB of RAM. Using 2 MT41K64M16.
I also had issues with my first unit.my controllers wouldn't allow me to use the right directional pad.my new unit works like s charm..now,this is my first plug and play system..I did alot of research and felt that this was my best option...allowing a user to add more games keeps this system fresh and new. The games they included were mostly topnotch titles, and I still enjoy playing them usually everyday...I love the retro movement that's going on because I don't seem to enjoy the newer games that are out on the bigger counsels.I guess I'm oldschool,but don't care. Thank you retro bit for stepping up your game this time with the super retro cade...I look forward to your products in the future.
I got this 8 months ago and haven't had the time to get around to playing it until recently. It's a bit of a strange one in that its a bit odd. Some of the games like R Type are I think the arcade version as it's a lot better than the PC Engine version so I actually liked that considering that I thought I was a person who didn't like R Type BUT there are a fair number of games on it that clearly don't run or present themselves right.
Crude Buster, Burger Time and Renegade are a few of the games I have noticed experiencing bad slowdown or terrible controls.
The Megadrive version of Crude Buster (Two Crude Dudes and not on this) runs far more faster than the Retrocade's arcade version of Crude Buster does for some reason.
I have a NES clone system on a chip that has a few of the games that have popped up on this which is good as the Retrocade's versions are presumably licensed correctly.
I'm not a hacker type and accept these mini consoles for what they are but I really don't know why someone would want to go to the bother of hacking this as there are presumably more sleeker menu systems and controllers on other mini consoles for those who like that type of thing.
It's a bit cheap and too niche for a lot of the games on it. I'm not trying to put anyone off not it's probably the least appetising of all the plug and play"s I've had.
The amount of vertical shmups on it where the screen ratio is too slim to play with any sort of enjoyment is a real letdown also.
I'll plug away over time and I'll probably get used to it but first impressions are a bit of a letdown to some degree.

Scary thing is that these guys just got the contract for new sega consoles and accesories covering everything from the genesis to the dreamcast.
They're out now and they're actually good. I own a few of them.
What's interesting is that while you did solder a pin back in to fix it that's a socket. Part of the plastic should of stayed behind when you disconnected the cable. Instead the plastic socket dislodged from the pins and shows that it was very poor quality indeed.

Can you add MAME arcade game files to it like older games like Rastan or Shinobi?

Are the controllers comparable to anything in particular?
Seems like if they got the manufacturing squared away they might have a pretty decent unit. Though with MAME it's kinda questionable which games you can and can't run even if the hardware is up to the task.
Got one today for £34.99. Having trouble with adding arcade roms. Mine is a UK unit.
Check out retro invade channel on YT - for mame stuff just run Lakka from an SD and your games data from a spare usb on front..
A little surprised you gave it as good of a review as you did, when you had two of them that were defunct out of the box. That said, I guess I can understand once you get it working, that it looks like a very good device for the price.
Two dead in a row says "I'm not buying one" until I hear something different. I'm also holding off until I hear there are better controller options. After all, this thing plays arcade games. I want an arcade stick. If ETA Prime is able to make one of those Zero-delay kits work? I will consider it.
I trust ETA Prime's reviews and judgment his recommendations.
Dude! I got mine on December 21st through Castlevania Games. It stopped working on December 23rd. It powers on just fine, but once on, it flickers between a black screen and occasional white snow. I guess I need to send it back for a replacement. It actually makes me relieved that others are having issues, and not just me. Glad you got yours to work.
Hey ETA Prime. What version of mame roms does this support? Be great if there was a list of supported ROMS that work with this, as I have found it really to be hit n miss with what works and what doesn't.

Quality control...I had just bought one and mine has no audio...and half the time the controller doesn't work. It will be going back and hearing about your 2 faulty units solidifies my decision of just getting my money back.
Hey ETA Whats a good cheap streaming box for my brother he doses not have internet so it will be just an HDD plugged in over USB and only 1080p needed.

This device seems promising, too bad that the quality control is so poor. It appears to be a good alternative to the nes and snes classic.

I cant get any Genesis or N64 roms to work..anyone get them to work? Arcade work perfectly you just have to keep them zipped up, and SNES and NES unzip to get them to work. Nothing I try for Genesis and N64 seems to work

Genesis works fine on mine. Make sure your genesis roms are .bin

manhattan movies Just add a png file and and retitle it to romnamegame.png format. Ex: TMNTgame.png.

I watch all your videos. This is one of your worst. You repeated yourself maybe three times about how two units didn't work (in 1st five mins). Poor Editting?? Normally your videos are excellent so this stood out. But thanks for an honest review as always.
