I absolutely LOVE my Super Retrocade !!!!! I do not own a NES or SNES classic mini ( I am gonna get one of each if I possibly can) but with the Retrocade and all the great game packs being put out by the great fellas in this group I can play every NES, every SNES game plus every SEGA Genesis or Gameboy, and an absolute ton of awesome classic Arcade madness ~ I highly recommend purchasing a Retrobit Super Retrocade for some quick & easy Arcade or Console gaming fun.
Brought a Pi 3b+ and spent ... the entire day installing everything i want on it ... its so damned cool going to my folks house to play a bunch of old games with my family. and it was so cheap.
and here is what i love the most about it ... When the PI upgrades ... i can upgrade .. CHEAPLY ... and relative ease of use (you can just swap memory cards right ?) . i can just use my old pi for a print server or some other ease of use upgrade ...

I'm diggin' the SuperRetrocade ,got it for Amored Warriors and got a lot more bang for my buck!!!
It's great to have a legal copy of many of these games which is how I play roms on my Emuelec frontend. While Data East and Capcom are a bit more accessible some of the earlier games are hard to get a hold of. Irem games are pretty scarce these days and Technos(my favorite) mostly impossible to get a hold of outside of the Double Dragon franchise. Wizard Fire(never heard of it) awesome game. Probably one of the most unique gems here. There is a isometric game called Gate of Doom available on Steam.
I love the Super Retrocade. That SD card slot makes it a real retro gaming powerhouse. The only problem I've had is that it won't play vector graphics games but that's a small price to pay considering everything else it can do. It's an arcade in a box basically. Like having a classic arcade in your living room. Thanks to the Maddlittlepixel community for helping me get onboard the retro gaming train!

@@chrisnizer1885 if you got GameCube rebelstrike you can play an 'official' home version of Starwars arcade and Empire also in the games bonus gallery - I got that and they play really good. I wished the retrocade played arcade Tempest though... But like you say its a minor gripe lol
@@chrisnizer1885 * yes it can - now easily with an Etched SD - search Lakka for Super Retrocade on YT for guides... peasy - and it can play those vector games with this non permanent SD upgrade.
Hell yeah, I'm loving the Super Retrocade! I've had it since June 2018 and have about 700 games (late 70's - 1989) with artwork. Replaced the D-pads with Sanwa joysticks and buttons. Every time (and there were a LOT of times early on) I had a question or problem with ROM'S, artwork, controller upgrading, your retro gaming forum helped me out. The only issue I have with it is it won't play games the originally used vector graphics. Next project is definitely a rotary joystick for SNK and Data East games like Ikari Warriors and Heavy Barrel. Thanks for the review and especially for all the help getting started. Much appreciated!
Using the Lakka cfw SD method you can enable play of Vector games like Asteroids and StarWars Arcade - these are not compatible with as stock firmware.

while I dont think emulation machines are evil ( I own a snes classic), I do think there is a flood of way too many half assed consoles similar to this. I would rather see high end options that focus on accuracy.

I'm interested in this super retrocade, but I think I'd lean towards that crazy expensive SNES instead - That Super NT looks pretty insane.. Problem is, for me, too many options and I already have multiple ways to play the same games at my house. So I dont pull the trigger. Cool idea for a video. I always appreciate your in-depth analysis and expertise, MLP!
In the Madlittle Pixel Gaming Facebook group there are packs of games to download for the Super Retrocade, and one pack for each system including one of all NES, one that is all SNES every game released for both systems, plus every SEGA Genesis, or Gameboy, even Gameboy Advance but some of those are laggy, and about 700 Arcade classics so far. put each pack on seperate SD cards and use them like game carts for the Retrocade. I would assume, because most people have time or money to buy and make, there own retro gaming things, like maybe rasberry pi or something.
Most people, would probably like to play games from there earlier years, but do not know how to get the things like raspberry pi or something going.
This is probably seen by them as an easy solution.
Have you tried a light gun on this yet? Wondered if the aimtrak might work with it.
For me it's all about gaming with licensed games. I would love to load thousands of games in RetroPie though. Maybe someday thee will be a way to buy retro roms with livences. Pity that Nintendo decided not to release virtual gaming into Switch in the cool old way.

is the Super Retro-Cade 240p on a CRT with the AV out ?
It has played every Genesis game I threw at it and only didn't work with arcade versions of Mk1,2,3,U, WrestleMania arcade, WWF superstars and NBA jam. Genesis and SNES versions of NBa jam and all versions of MK work.
I was almost disappointed with this thing because it wouldn't play WWF WrestleFest. Tried all versions and finally the Japanese version which is mainly English anyway works flawlessly. This thing works pretty well. And plays most games.
MJ Moonwalker Arcade is a little slow at times, but mainly playable. This thing is dope
I absolutely love this device. It is my go to device for arcade gaming. I suggest using LAKKA on an SD card on this device. There are a couple of youtube videos on how to do this. I have better luck running the majority of roms this way then with Retroarch on my laptop. It even detected my dual arcade stick and trackball which was my only real issue not using LAKKA. Another plus is it reads my Commodore roms and also others I would normally have issues wth or would not be able to run in the first place.
100% agreed - simple to add SD Lakka and really unlocks this mega inexpensive Orange Pi alternative :)

I’m not a customising type of guy. I have a Retro Pi. I had issues with it down the track as some of my favourite games stopped working. I have no idea what I’m doing. I need a plug and play system like this that has a very large ARCADE library (X-men, GI Joe, Tmnt 1 and 2, Simpsons, Aliens, Aliens Vs Predator, and all the Mortal Kombats Pre installed.
I have a Pi (Actually built it for fun. I'm no electrician, but it looked straightforward enough so I gave it a whirl. I really enjoyed putting it together), but I kind of want one of these from a collector's standpoint. I also kind of want that crappy Mega Man 2 plug and play from Walmart too (I hear the video quality is bad on that one), or the Double Dragon* plug and play. lol
*If they ever do Double Dragon II: The Revenge, I'm sold. I got a copy of that for like 10 cents at Funko Land back in the day, and I played the hell out of it. Still have it, but I would love a cheesy arcade stick with DDII artwork. One of my favorite NES games. Whenever I talk about a sequel with a 2 in the title, I usually mumble "The Revenge" to myself. lol
How can you play games like Heavy Barrel & Midnight Resistance which both used the rotary joystick? Is there a special rotary joystick usb controller that you can buy to play all those rotary joystick games on MAME like Ikari Warriors, Victory Road, etc.?

Could be pointed out that the mali 400 at 600mhz is better than the raspberry pi gpu stock 300mhz, oc 500, both are likely running 1.2ghz cpu the h3 is capable of 1.6 similar to the pi3b+ with overclock, both have 1gb ram (I think) , but it comes down to ease of use that retrocade plug and play, pi takes a little work.
I swear there was a orangepi that looked exactly like that but I can't find it now :/

Anyone been able to get artwork for NES, Gameboy, and Sega games to load onscreen? I've tried the same method used for MAME rom's and it doesn't work. Everything else I tried hasn't worked either. If anyone knows how to get artwork for NES, Gameboy, and Sega to load I'd appreciate your help, thanks.

Not easily, but via a Linux pc and a modded usb cable yes you can, see online forums - do a Google search ...

I got all those games and who cares... and more but, it's so simple and awesome... Love it and think it brings the added exposure those games need strait to the couch.

@@rexcrockett6110 The mobo is based on similar spec to Raspberry Pi 2, SOC Arm 7 Cortex Quadcore & Mali 400GPU. With 2x USB, 1 x HDMI, Full SD, Power and RCA outs its ok spec for its purpose - hdmi multi-mini console.
Next step a board that is EPROM capable of updating to a Dreamcast, N64, SNES, Megadrive with 100% compatibility!

That is beyond this thing's capability. Stick to games that it can handle, which is most classic arcade games, and it performs very well.

Yeah that is strange, are you sure it's not a ROM issue? That game shouldn't present any problems, it's 2D and not very large. In fact I'm pretty sure I have a ROM for that which works on Retrocade. It's not my kind of game, so not one I've really played.
