The problem is that most people don't know/don't realise/don't care that you should keep them in pairs, especially if you have to go to school or work. 7:42 is such an important point. My parents got me my budgie when I was 10, didn't require me to do any research, and she ended up on a seed diet and alone in her cage for nearly 4 years before I actually decided to do research on my own. I gave up on my baby before I even knew what I was doing wrong, so it's so important that kids are able to understand the commitment and patience it takes to own a bird of any size!

Hello! My daughter Priscilla loves your channel and insisted we comment. We have two parakeets. Our first bird landed on our deck one day after no one in the neighborhood claimed him he became ours and we named him Frank. We recently got him a friend and named him Bean. Your videos are very helpful and have taught us that we were doing everything wrong in regards to training 😂. We are working on training the proper way now.

I want to say THANK YOU! We got a budgie for me, we didn't realize it would help my son build skills to manage his ADHD! We did a lot of education before we brought our feathered family member home. I watch several wonderful you tube channels about birds, however my son will only focus and enjoy you! He is 12 years old and your energy and fun keeps him engaged! I feel as if you have been personally working with him... my husband and I appreciate your good work so much! You have a beautiful glowing spirit!
To any parents who see this and think, "let's get them a bird to help"... YOU have to take the lead on all care and training and manage the child. Touch/ target training started and all of a sudden he thought the bird could skip baby steps and start doing tricks. It is still a dedication for you... and it has helped us work together in harmony... but it has been rewarding work!

ahhh please don't let your bird and dog interact, it only takes a few seconds for an accident to happen!! and dogs lick their fur and their saliva is toxic to birds so if your bird is preening the dog and ingests the saliva then it could die...
My cousin asked me “So what’s it like to have a bird?” Me: *Imagine living with a Bipolar narcissist Toddler who never grows up for 20 years with bolt cutters attached to its face. Oh yea.....and they can Fly* When I get home my little Dino throws his food everywhere. He is LOUD and very noisy! He is a tiny lovebird and can probably send sound waves strong enough to tear through the house. Poops....EVERYWHERE!!! can you tolerate getting bitten by a moody child? It happens every day. If you leave them alone for a second they start screaming flying around the house trying to find Mommy or Daddy. They get into everything. Shutting the bathroom doors are no longer acceptable. They get VERY jealous. When my boyfriend came over at first Petry would bite him because he was very Possessive over me and thought he wasn’t getting enough attention. They will manage to get anywhere and everywhere they can. His “friendly” and “murder” switch can flip any second. He can want scritches one second and the next stare at your hand like it’s his next Meal. Very Angry Dino sometimes 😂😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️ But....I love him to death no matter what. Best thing that I ever did was decide to get a bird.

Elle if you see this I had two birds but one died 2 weeks ago. It was the saddest day of my life. I used all your tips and he had the best life until the day he got sick. Then 2 weeks after that he died. 1 week after he died I got a new budgie. I have one green and one blue now. But I had a green and yellow one. I got the new budgie. It is blue and in the matter of 1 day it was climbing on shoulder stepping up. And of course it made my green budgie eat out of my hands. The blue one is called Skye, the green one is called lucky, and my passed yellow one was called coco.

Also make sure that you can handle the pitch of the bird that you are thinking about getting. I can't handle budgie's chatter for long amounts of time, but a conure can scream all day and I won't bat an eye.
Elle a cool and informative video idea is reacting to youtubers getting birds. Ive seen countless videos of people impulse buying, and not doing research. For example: That youtube family ( and search bird with that) :)
Just gonna say, If you can’t handle loud chirping nonstop all day and for me, all night. Screaming, cleaning cages every week, making chop, patience for taming etc, time to have them out for hours at a time, tons of trial and error, doing tons of research, paying for expensive vet visits, over priced food and toys, and more...a bird is probably not the right pet for you.
That’s why I’m getting two so if I have to go to the shop or when I’m at college they have each other to keep Company ❤ also unless there the dog or cat has specifically shown signs that it’s a danger to the bird I think it’s safer for them to be introduced as if they are ever in contact at some point the dog or cat is going to be more willing to attack my dog has been introduced to chickens to start with and she was amazing with them and ever since my parrots and any type of small animal I have bought into the house I have introduced them to her and she has been amazing although I understand that some pets do not get along. like I said if they show signs of aggression then maybe it’s not best to introduce them but otherwise I think it’s important to introduce them so they can understand it’s not a squeaky toy. I've been watching your videos and I just got my cockatiel Asher and he liked me the day I got him, he loves my hair lol. He's around 3 months old. I got my mom to get him a big cage, natural wood perches, and toys. When I got him his wings were clipped but I'm letting them grow out and I've started training him (I'm following your training videos to train him). I'm still trying to get him used to getting on my hands, but he loves head scratches and he loves me. Thanks for all your help I love your channel! ❤️😁

My parents were very reasonable. We had a family German Shepherd, and in order for us to get a pet (for me a bird) we had to feed and walk the dog every day, brush it twice a week, play with it, and manage grooming sessions for it for a whole year.

Screaming, cleaning cages every week, making chop, patience for taming etc, time to have them out for hours at a time, tons of trial and error, doing tons of research, paying for expensive vet visits, over priced food and toys, and more...a bird is probably not the right pet for you.
I don’t think they chirp a lot if you have one bird I am pretty sure from my research they only chirp once and a while in an hour and it’s cute ☺️
@@Cows55 I have two birds. But it sometimes depends on the bird. One will scream his head off and one is chill.

That’s why I’m getting two so if I have to go to the shop or when I’m at college they have each other to keep Company ❤ also unless there the dog or cat has specifically shown signs that it’s a danger to the bird I think it’s safer for them to be introduced as if they are ever in contact at some point the dog or cat is going to be more willing to attack my dog has been introduced to chickens to start with and she was amazing with them and ever since my parrots and any type of small animal I have bought into the house I have introduced them to her and she has been amazing although I understand that some pets do not get along. like I said if they show signs of aggression then maybe it’s not best to introduce them but otherwise I think it’s important to introduce them so they can understand it’s not a squeaky toy. I've been watching your videos and I just got my cockatiel Asher and he liked me the day I got him, he loves my hair lol. He's around 3 months old. I got my mom to get him a big cage, natural wood perches, and toys. When I got him his wings were clipped but I'm letting them grow out and I've started training him (I'm following your training videos to train him). I'm still trying to get him used to getting on my hands, but he loves head scratches and he loves me. Thanks for all your help I love your channel! ❤️😁

My parents were very reasonable. We had a family German Shepherd, and in order for us to get a pet (for me a bird) we had to feed and walk the dog every day, brush it twice a week, play with it, and manage grooming sessions for it for a whole year.
