Wait can i ask a question My alpha bird which is a female She had a child but never lets him out even if he's old enough why is my alpha bird Never letting him leave
Omg my birds have been in the kitchen the longest time! But, they're not dead or sick or anything. Whew! Edit: also since my cousin has allergies, and he lives with us, i can't put my birds in the house or train them/open the cage cause the feathers fly everywhere. So we had to put them outside that's fine right? But now I'm kinda scared bc our neighbors smoke.... but like i said my cousin has allergies so we can't bring them in... help someone😐😐
DO NOT PUT YOUR OVEN IN SELF CLEAN WITH YOUR BIRD IN THE HOUSE!!! Just learned this the hard way!! My conure died because if this, I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.
I had a 15 year old Cockatiel that was my absolute BABY. In our okd house, when we put the oven to auto clean, (fumes are fatal to birds) we put her and her Budgie friend in a room far away with fans and shut the door. They were always fine! However, last year, we moved into a new house. It was time to auto clean the oven, so we moved the cockatiel, budgie, and our 3 canaries to the farthest room in the house, again, with fans, door shut and towel under the wedge. This is the sad part. Unfortunately, somehow, abd maybe it was the type of oven, but the birds were poisoned by the fumes. The budgie died first, to which we took immediate action and removed the rest of them from the house completely to get fresg air. Unfortunately then, two of the canaries passed, shortly followed by my dear Cockatiel. One canary survived because she struggles to intake air, thus not receiving a fatal amount of fumes (the breeder we received her from failed to care for her properly, we saved her). This was last week. So please, please, if you're auto cleaning an oven, if you can, remove the birds from the house completely, if you can. Keep the at a family member's for the day. Do not repeat my mistake. I miss my girl.
I'm so sorry about this! You even took precautions. But now everyone who reads this comment will know that fumes are efficient travelers. I recently moved and now have a self cleaning oven. I was excited and was definitely going to use it and soon. Now I know not to so you saved at least two birds (blue budgie and cockatiel). May those sweet babies rest in peace.
Thank you for posting this. I need to clean my oven soon. Now I know I should roll their cage out of the house when I clean the oven and air out the house completely before bringing them back in. Thanks for saving my birds!
The open door/window one is probably the scariest one, your little birdie could suddenly go missing and while you're spending your time looking for him indoors, they'll be running around outside. Every second counts when your bird is outside :( My mum left the back door wide open the other day, and my bird Oscar flew outside. I never thought he'd be able to fly all the way through the living room, through the dining room, through the conservatory, and onto the driveway in one quick flight, but he did, even with his wings partially clipped. He made his way down the driveway and into the front garden before we finally managed to catch him. It was a really close call, but she still hasn't learned her lesson because she keeps leaving the door open when she goes outside ;_;
GrinFlash Don’t assume the mum meant to do it - it was probably an honest mistake. My mum left the front door open momentarily once, and my little tiel was able to fly straight out of it and into the woods. No hope of finding him when the whole surrounding area is endless forests, but we tried our hardest and spent the next 3 days searching through the woods for him. My mum did everything she could to try and find him and she was really remorseful, so just because a mum is the reason a bird flies away, it doesn’t mean they’re a bad mum. She’s the reason I was able to have my bird anyway, so if anything I should be thanking her. I know you’re referring to the other person’s mum in their story, but it’s still really hurtful to others with a similar experience.

I took my bird to the avian vet because she couldn’t breathe and I didn’t know what was wrong she told me that no chemicals or scented oils are safe for a bird. She said that while some of them won’t guarantee the bird to get sick it’s like rolling the dice. What causes respiratory problems in one bird may not in another. she said that you should never take that chance because even if it has been fine it can build up in their lungs and cause sudden breathing problems or even death which is what almost happened to my bird. The vet even told me that the little puff of smoke from blowing out an unscented candles can irritate a bird’s lungs if they are in the same room. NOTHING in the air at all I cried for days cause I thought my baby was gonna die.

I feel it's important I add to this list of items-- FLY TAPE! My late budgie Diddy was spooked out of my room once and flew into some flytape in the kitchen ;n; It was incredibly traumatizing for both me and him to have to cut the sticky glue out of his feathers and wash off his wings, and his feathers were a mess for a few weeks after the fact. I'm only thankful I got to him and was able to free him before things had escalated further... He was okay, but any type of glue trap, whether for insects or rodents, is downright CRUEL, and obviously very dangerous to pets!
Oh no! I f eel so sorry for Diddy. At least now he's in birdie heaven. There are so many products that should simply not exist. That fly paper is one of them.
Elle; the second way that paint can harm birds is if your bird chews on something that is painted and it starts flaking off. My bird in the meantime: *chews on the metal of his cage like he has 9 lives or something*
JustPazzaz - My vet told me that chocolate was okay, or even good for parrots, so I had been giving my bird some small abounds of chocolate. I found out just a few days ago that this is not true. Chocolate shall never again pass his precious beak.
This could be good but there's so many misconceptions too. Like, there's the people who cry never give your bird dairy! And then there's my avian vet who is like, yes a bit of yogurt here and there is fine. I use the bathroom test. If dairy gives me the shits, I don't share it with my bird. We are both lactose intolerant.
i've been doing a lot of research about getting a bird while also in the process of buying my first home and this video was a huge help! I've been able to create a list bird safe household essentials that i'm going to need before I've spent money on non-bird safe items. also you're birds are so adorable!
Sadly my house almost burned down, my beatiful parakeet smelled the smoke and woke us up as he was freaking out so we put out the smoldering item but sadly he didnt make it :(
My grandma got a bird with three love birds and everyone bonded to her. When she died they never ate or talk like depression. But there was a way to make them undepressed, i ised my gramas voice. I know this is sad😢
I brought my budgie to my cousins house once. And he got free while I was out, because my cousin didn't know to close the cage before opening the windows in the house. I stayed there for an extra week to look for him, but it was no use. Loosing a bird who was bred to be a pet and doesn't know how to find food, especially one that is only native to Australia, was heart breaking.
Make sure you bond with that bird also because it’s very likely it may unfortunately outlive your grandpa and it would be terrible. If it didn’t have a decent bond with its future caretaker… Long live grandpa and birds!
Honestly, i'm so glad this video was posted.. It probably saved so many birds. It didn't really matter for me because I didn't have any of these things in my entire house. But thanks for notifying everyone about this type of stuff! ❤️
My sisters rabbit chewed my phone charger whole my phone was charging in the one second it took for him to enter room then leave.... he wasn’t supposed to be in that room. But somehow he got in.
I saved this video to my birds playlist. I’ve wanted an African Grey for YEARS so and over the years I know a ton of things about birds and it’s always good to learn more about them. Thank you for the very helpful information!!!
@@givemeattention4163 They dont let them fly away though! I'm sure they dont want them to fly away and they to and try to catch them. Its a mistake to learn from and it is sad
Elle, you’re doing a fantastic job. Please keep telling people to READ actual books as well as internet on their particular species of bird. I raised a baby Moluccan cockatoo, but now have 4 budgies. I’ve been reading a year to learn everything about thier natures and capabilities. My favorite budgie is... Disco ! He speaks hilarious phrases... !!!😂😂😂
Thanks Ellie! Very helpful and your birds look very happy! Most of the things that you mentioned are also harmful to people too. The air quality in your home is everything to a bird, you should always let fresh air into your home just make sure your windows are closed or screened before your birds are out.
Elle I know your not gonna see this but I really appreciate that you give tips on birds because I’m thinking about getting a cockatiel with my money and I keep watching more and more of your videos. They have really helped me to make sure nothing to be cautious to a bird is in my house before I even start even getting stuff for it. I just wanted to say thanks for all you did! From: a local ten year old
Could you make a video on how you potty trained the birds? That would be sooo great!! I literally love how your videos are so easy to understand!! Keep up the good work 👍👍 Also...you should do a video explaining your birds’ story!!
Ummm..... with this virus going around why in the flipping hell would you do that? I'd give them away before doing that. So my question is. How dirty do you want your house?
I’m feeling bad for you going through all your comments now that you’re growing your channel when you had 400 when I subbed you didn’t have as much work but keep up the good work you don’t need to do anything to my comment you already have enough work 👍🏻😄
Thanks for making the video. Birds are extremely vulnerabale with their little hollow bones and respriatory system. I'd say the 2 biggest dangers to them are Themselves and everything that exists.
Thank you for making this video. I lost my budgie today due to candles. I was keeping Jinx ( my budgie) at my bf house for a week because I won’t be around to take care of him. My bf knows what to do but his mother didn’t. She burned candles around Jinx even when we specifically say not to. My bf wasn’t always around to monitor things Found him pass away this morning and pretty sure due to toxin. I miss my baby, hope he rest in peace.
Wow your subs are going up! The canary analogy is a good one for that. And awe give your flock scritches for me! I always say in times like this when disinfectants May be necessary, just do one room at a time with good ventilation and remove the birds to another area of house or outside in a cage for a bit. Nonstick stuff we as a bird community need to update on cuz now that red ceramic cookware and newer stuff is out, we need to keep updated cuz just cuz those 2 we know are bad, there’s always new types coming on the market and hairdryers & hair styling tools go along with this as well! Curling irons sometimes have a nonstick coating. Also electric candles are a good substitute for flame candles which are a no no. Febreeze as you said is no good, but now there’s tons of options in that area as more brands come out with new products. So we as a community should update that too to say “any febreeze or air freshener product!” Good list!!! Well done! Your info for your she is remarkable. Can we request a pearl & budgie play date? I keep hoping Marlene’s budgie and pearl become good friends. I see that group bonding well. I’d love to just see a 10-20 min free play vid. Happy Easter!!!
“you cannot spray any disinfectant in the same room as your bird” lmao, good thing I never clean my room at all 😎 (jkjk I do, just not with sprays and stuff)
I disabled the ceiling fan in my birdroom/bedroom right when I got them. By that I mean I cut off the cord that you pull to activate the fan then taped it up as well as covering any exposed metal on the fan so they couldn't access them. Now they actually love to run across the fan and hop from one part to the other so at least it still serves some purpose.
I- *I'm gonna adopt a cockatiel tomorrow, and we plan to put the cage a little near the kitchen* Edit: I'm so glad I found this video, or else my cockatiel would die..I will ask my dad to move the cage outside or inside my room..
Great video! Awesome information (like always) Also to add onto the window thing, your parrot could also chew through the screening so if I open a window I normally just crack it open. Also Heaters can have Teflon! Which is super sad. You should do a video on deadly/harmful foods next time too! Thanks! :D
Im glad I dont use air fresheners or candles We only have one plant but the birds are never in the same room as it the only thing is my birds used too be in the paint room but I didn’t get too have a say in it 😐 but I didn’t care what my family said i moved them and they haven’t been in there since🙂.
hello i love your videos (and your birds) you helped me so much and now finally my cockatiels are slowly warming up to me, without you she and he would still be scared flying around the room not knowing that i want to put them in their cage, keep up the wonderful effort girl!
This info will be very helpful for us all. I just adopted (2 days ago)from the ASPCA a beautiful Ring Neck Parakeet! ❤ I have not had a pet bird in many years however I did not think about the ceiling fan! Thank you as I just had not thought about that! Absolutely a danger! And I have one big houseplant that must go(a big beautiful Fiddle Leaf tree) My others are okay. I am allergic myself to anything scented! I suffer extreme migraines. These are really important reminders. And yes non scratch surfaces on pans etc.
Hey, so you might have gotten me a bird. It sounds a bit weird because you probably don’t even know who I am, but your videos are so helpful and informational (and adorable) that my mom has been convinced and now I actually have a chance of getting my dream come true; A Green Cheek Conure, my first ever pet.🥰🥰🥰
Did you just read my mind? Because last night before sleeping, I was actually worried about all the fans that we have and how they can harm the new bird that we are going to get! And I really didn't want to clip my birds wings! So I was thinking about adding small net kinda things to the gets of my door. Any ways, thmx for the info! I'm gonna get a budgie after this quarantine! So u helped me a lot! :)
@@SidlymationsD you don't have to get a conure.. all birds are playful and friendly if you raise them right and give them the proper training and socialisation.. not just conures. Budgies are just as loving. Conures are arguably much more fidgety and more likely to keep flying around rather than staying with you for cuddles, although all littler birds are fidgety lol. Conure screams are especially loud so keep that in mind too
I always recommend trimming at least 4 flights because they can injure themselves unless they are flight trained, I’ve heard and witnessed way to many birds break their necks because they fly into things, it doesn’t hurt them at all to trim them, unless you don’t know how to trim, they should be able to fly, depending on how much or little you trim, they just won’t be able to fly up and away they fly up and come back down, usually they get better at flying with their wings clipped and you have to do more, but it’s usually with smaller birds like parakeets and conures :)
About the doors. We have a cat that likes to run out when we open the door so we built a net door (basically a frame with net in in) so we could go past that door, close it, and then open the door out. It works really great with cats at least, not sure how it’d go with birds that like to chew and destroy things but it might be worth considering. We did the same for windows as well so we can have them open without anyone running away
Thank you so much Live Laugh Birds!! This is really helpful because in two weeks I am getting a bird and I do NOT want any of these things around my house!!
This is good for me,because I plan on keeping my bird upstairs because my 2 cats and dog..I just really need to tell mom not to use disinfectant wipes, and my bird is protected.
Another invaluable video. Thank you so very much for this important information. I am a new bird owner, so this video might have saved my cockatiel's life!! The pet shops should have to tell you these things BEFORE you buy a bird!!
This helps SO FREAKING MUCH OMG I just got a budgie 4 hours ago and this helps SO MUCH! Thanks you for making this video, you earned a subscriber for life
Only a few good examples of why birds do not belong in our homes as pets... They are wild animals and we cannot even begin to meet their needs in a context of captivity. Happy Easter!
Also be careful about leaving paper towels sitting upright on the table. My budgie, Luna, got stuck and fell down in and was stuck in the tube upside down for at least 30 minutes or more until I thought to look there. She was okay, but it could have ended badly if I was away for longer. Also, open toilet seats! Keep em closed! ♥️
Im late but these are all my birds Budgies teddy and mango (passed away) Grinchy, plush and a cockatiel pineapple Homing pigeons Romeo, cheesy, michael and cam-cam Chickens chu-chu and Suki(she passed away)

I use the bathroom test. If dairy gives me the shits, I don't share it with my bird. We are both lactose intolerant.
Most of it is just self explanatory.

i've been doing a lot of research about getting a bird while also in the process of buying my first home and this video was a huge help! I've been able to create a list bird safe household essentials that i'm going to need before I've spent money on non-bird safe items.
also you're birds are so adorable!
Hello!
If you still have the list, could you possibly share it👀
Sadly my house almost burned down, my beatiful parakeet smelled the smoke and woke us up as he was freaking out so we put out the smoldering item but sadly he didnt make it :(

Just don't keep it in the same room that you paint in- but i am glad that I know this before getting a parrot- because I like painting sometimes...-
My grandma got a bird with three love birds and everyone bonded to her. When she died they never ate or talk like depression. But there was a way to make them undepressed, i ised my gramas voice.
I know this is sad😢
“No open windows”
My window is permanently shut 😅😂
Angel Scinta 🙄ruined it
Mine to
Yeah I have A screen window to
mine is too XD
Mine are always open (you know those net windows? Yeah I have those)
I brought my budgie to my cousins house once.
I’m so sorry for your loss 💔
i’m sorry oh my god
U lost it I'm so sorry I feel bad well I lost all f my pets at least I have two more
I’m so sorry 😢
Nooo I am really sorry 😭💔
My grandma passed away a month ago and my uncle bought my grandpa a parrot (he is so happy for the first time in a month!) I will see it today
Great video. Pearl looks like she wants to be buddies with Kermit.
Thank you! It’s so cute 🥰
Her: **starts talking about birds eating cords**
Me: **Looks at my dog cause she chewed up my charger and earphones**
My sisters rabbit chewed my phone charger whole my phone was charging in the one second it took for him to enter room then leave.... he wasn’t supposed to be in that room. But somehow he got in.
🤣🤣😂
My dog destroys everything I love her
Dude one day I got home and my dog had chewed a line filter in the fuse part, with my PlayStation 2 power plug, HOW DID SHE SURVIVED?!
my parrot chewed up the charger but LUCKILY the switch was off..
I saved this video to my birds playlist. I’ve wanted an African Grey for YEARS so and over the years I know a ton of things about birds and it’s always good to learn more about them. Thank you for the very helpful information!!!
I love how she said at the beginning your you are going to have to yeet some stuff out of your house
Her you are going to yeet some things out of your house : me :yeets everything in my house to the garbage
Good job fam
There are still idiots who leave their door and windows open and I see their bird on social media lost and stranded on someone back yard or deck.
It doesn't only happen when they leave stuff open. Someone could simply open a door for a split second and the bird could fly out.
[WE]•MeetYourEnd • i have no idea how people are so stupid they let their birds fly away
@@givemeattention4163 They dont let them fly away though! I'm sure they dont want them to fly away and they to and try to catch them. Its a mistake to learn from and it is sad
Mia Arianna sound pretty dumb if your bird is able to get away like that. it's not just a mistake, it's certain death for birds
@@givemeattention4163 Well I'm glad you didn't have to experience it because I did and its devastating.
Your video's are really helpful for my research for getting a budgie. Thank you so much for making these!
I literally love how your videos are so easy to understand!! Keep up the good work 👍👍
Also...you should do a video explaining your birds’ story!!
Before I got a bird, I had many candles in my room so you might have saved my birds life! Thank you!😊☺🤗
I love the way your eyes sparkle when you smile.
Me: I should probably throw out my lysol wipes.
Live Laugh Birds: Here are some things you should YEET out of your house.
Ummm..... with this virus going around why in the flipping hell would you do that? I'd give them away before doing that. So my question is. How dirty do you want your house?

I’m feeling bad for you going through all your comments now that you’re growing your channel when you had 400 when I subbed you didn’t have as much work but keep up the good work you don’t need to do anything to my comment you already have enough work 👍🏻😄
Thanks for making the video.
Birds are extremely vulnerabale with their little hollow bones and respriatory system.
I'd say the 2 biggest dangers to them are
Themselves and everything that exists.
Thank you for making this video. I lost my budgie today due to candles. I was keeping Jinx ( my budgie) at my bf house for a week because I won’t be around to take care of him. My bf knows what to do but his mother didn’t. She burned candles around Jinx even when we specifically say not to. My bf wasn’t always around to monitor things
Found him pass away this morning and pretty sure due to toxin.
I miss my baby, hope he rest in peace.
"A lot of paints have lead or *Zinc* which can be toxic"
*me, staring at the seed bag that has zinc as an ingredient* ????????????
I can't understand this too🤦♀️😂
Why must a seed bag contain zinc tho
Kinda sus⁉️
You’re right elle, thanks for this information...i also avoid this all in my house ever since i had my first bird
Awesome, safety first!
So we as a community should update that too to say “any febreeze or air freshener product!”
Good list!!! Well done! Your info for your she is remarkable.
Can we request a pearl & budgie play date? I keep hoping Marlene’s budgie and pearl become good friends. I see that group bonding well. I’d love to just see a 10-20 min free play vid.
Happy Easter!!!
“you cannot spray any disinfectant in the same room as your bird”
lmao, good thing I never clean my room at all 😎 (jkjk I do, just not with sprays and stuff)
Ya same
Jk. GUYS IM JUST KIDDING NO GUYS I DO STOP SAYING I DORNTNRHT

This is extremely helpful for me because me and my family are thinking of getting 2 buggies 👍❤
Great video! Awesome information (like always) Also to add onto the window thing, your parrot could also chew through the screening so if I open a window I normally just crack it open. Also Heaters can have Teflon! Which is super sad. You should do a video on deadly/harmful foods next time too! Thanks! :D
Thanks so much! Yes, I forgot to add heaters 😅 and thanks for adding the tip about the windows!

It sounds a bit weird because you probably don’t even know who I am, but your videos are so helpful and informational (and adorable) that my mom has been convinced and now I actually have a chance of getting my dream come true; A Green Cheek Conure, my first ever pet.🥰🥰🥰
green cheek conure’s are so cute!
Get a conure. They're extremely playful and they easily get attached to u
@@lazyoldjay thnx for the suggestion! I will see about that
@@SidlymationsD you don't have to get a conure.. all birds are playful and friendly if you raise them right and give them the proper training and socialisation.. not just conures.
This is one of the pros of having a bird that never learned to fly.
Buuttt I cant teach them a lot of tricks...
3:31 why did your budgie in the bottom right corner turned into a super car?

Just in general, NEVER put your birds on a pan. It gives me the goosebumps.
And especially don’t put the pan on the stove.

Only a few good examples of why birds do not belong in our homes as pets... They are wild animals and we cannot even begin to meet their needs in a context of captivity. Happy Easter!
Very true! Happy Easter to you too!
Also be careful about leaving paper towels sitting upright on the table. My budgie, Luna, got stuck and fell down in and was stuck in the tube upside down for at least 30 minutes or more until I thought to look there.
