    The fact that you didn't replace but recover him from all sort of sickness is another level of patience and true love💘

      Thank you! She is still doing really well! Been recently trying to harness train her to be able to take her outside and it's been going well. She is a very spoilt lil bird.

    I have a pied Lutino called Cheeky and I love him to bits. You won't regret getting a cockatiel. You're obviously a Witcher fan going by his name "Geralt". Me too. 😍🤩

    If a bird doesn't go outside a UV light is needed. Glass keep the UV light away that they use to make vitamins

    Great Video! I got 2 pairs from a breeder last Dec 2022. The 1st pair is lutino and the second pair is albino. One of the albinos has a mild swollen right eye but I am glad it didn't worsen and he's okay now. They were not tamed and I placed them in my newly built large aviary and placed inside my greenhouse in the backyard. I was hoping that they will lay eggs and produce more babies and from there, I can start to tame some of them. It's really fun to watch them playing in a bigger cage and seeing them very happy.

      That's great to hear that they are doing well (and sorry to hear one of them had an eye problem too). And they would be very happy with all that space to hang out in. I have a friend who breeds Green Cheek Conures and I got to handle them as babies! Hand raising birds definitely looks like a very demanding but rewarding thing to do and I hope it goes well for you!

    Great video! And true that it is quite important to take your bird to an avian vet when you get them, but more importantly if you are buying a new bird go for a reputable aviary that disease tests their animals! That will help you avoid this in future :) 🦜
    Also uwu zone made me laugh 😆

    • @cosybirb
      @cosybirb  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! Yeah after taking her to the local vet a few times we have since found a really good avian vet who we now use. And I'll definitely keep that in mind when we get more birbs!
      I couldn't resist calling it the uwu zone hahaha.

      This was a fair few years ago now! I've since become more aware of better and safer toys for birds, as well as what to feed them. This video is intended as my own honest experience owning a bird for the first time, and hopefully it helps inform people before getting a bird about how much care goes into having one 😊
      Also, I've never clipped any of my birds wings, they were already clipped by the seller.

    I also have a cockatiel for about 6 months now, the only thing i regret is that hes not that friendly with me yet, i am trying really hard, i bought him from a breeder but hes not hand tamed so i cant get him to step up he will bite my fingers but still love him to death, his name is Hercules :D

    • @cosybirb
      @cosybirb  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry that you're struggling, but yeah it's going to be a lot harder when they are not hand tamed. Even though Geralt was hand tamed it still took her a little bit to warm up to me, what helped was hand feeding her. I would offer her some millet every day, and once she was comfortable eating it I put my hand between her and the millet so that she could only eat it if she stepped up. It took a little bit of patience and now she refuses to get off me 😂
      I hope Hercules warms up more to you soon!

    • @cosybirb
      @cosybirb  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah it was a bit stressful to go through while learning how to care for a bird. After having birds for 3 years now (I later got a lovebird) I've learnt that they are definitely a handful but I love them to bits.

    Definitely don’t want to give her seed diet not a healthy choice.

    • @cosybirb
      @cosybirb  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I actually managed to get her off a seed diet for a year because I had heard it wasn't a healthy diet, but it ended up doing more harm than good. At first she was fine but after a while she started losing weight and had gotten sick again. My avian vet recommended a mix of budgie seeds and pellets for both my cockatiel and lovebird, along with vegetables of course (sunflower seeds are kept for treats only). She has been doing much better now and has been much happier too. A seed diet isn't bad as long as you're giving your bird the right kind of seed mix, and they get a lot of daily exercise flying around the house too.

    Man made things shouldn't be pushed on animals. That uv light was really unnecessary. & people shouldn't be cutting bird wings. I really think it's important to train birds to fly to you. & if you don't want to put in that effort don't get a bird at all!
