"Get as many shots as possible. Get a wide, medium, and tight for everything. It's always better to overshoot than to undershoot" - If you take just one thing away from this video, this is it. Biggest difference in making an engaging, high quality piece of video.
I am really glad that I have found your TH-cam channel and really appreciate the effort that you put the content that you are creating is really authentic and genuine I would like to be like you thank you for inspiring and keep creating great content
Love all the tips! I just want to say you have inspired me a lot throughout my video making journey. Buying my first camera (also the sonya6400) and making my first TH-cam video was mostly because I binged watch your videos back in 2021. Finding out I was gonna go to the same uni as you was definitely a very cool coincidence. I actually said hi to you one time and then never saw you on campus again haha. But I just want to say thank you for creating your videos, because they have truly inspired me a lot and are also just really genuine enjoyable videos to watch :)
This is best comment ive ever had. Have fun with content creation journey there’s lots of ups and downs but that’s all things in life! I hope to see you on campus when I’m back in the fall!
Amazing! The way you explain the details behind de process of journaling makes a lot of sense to me, something I use to practice for emotional release, but this way makes it more rewarding.
Hey Jason, I wanna say congrads for the quality of this video - Great color grading, great advice and well structure video. Keep it up, I am slightly older than you but can relate with everything you said and am on a similar YT journey :)
Great video and thanks for the tips. Question, what do your camera settings typically look like when shooting these run and gun style cinematic vlogs? Are you on automatic for certain shots, full manual all the time, do you use auto white balance or set it for every single scene, do you use a picture profile (if so which one), etc?
@@JasonZhao how often did you set your white balance when you’re shooting the different scenes and vlogging at the same time? Or did you leave WB on auto?
hey Jason! just starting my channel and looking to vlog myself. really appreciate all the videos you have on the topic! question: how do you get to use songs like "can I kick it" without being de-monetized? can't find anything good resources on that. thanks in advanced!
Not much, on a few clips I did a bit of enhancing with adobes new enhance dialogue feature but I would say about 90% of the clips were just raw audio boosted to about -6 dB. Hope this helps!
I’ve never done much with food vlogging but I have done commercial shoots for restaurants and I think a big part is letting the viewers see how the food is made like a BTS cinematic sequence of inside the kitchen not just the end result!
I’ve only ever used Adobe premiere pro! I love it but i believe a lot of creatives are switching over to DaVinci resolve due to its colour grading tools. It also has a free version!
Not sure of the name! It’s an old one from my family, metal build but I only bring it out sometimes if I know I’m going to try and be in front of the camera.
@@JasonZhao lol o damn i didnt think you’d reply. Just subbed to your ch. ! love this type of content vlogs. i currently have davinci free version. You think it’d be ideal for me to buy dehancer pro even though i have davinci free version? or should i buy davinci studio THEN dehancer? Thanks!
@gettriggered8404 honestly not sure, never used DaVinci before so can’t speak on that but if you’re having troubles with colouring your footage Dehancer is a great tool!

Haha picked up that piece of advice from an old friend when I first started out!
@@JasonZhao It's banger advice. Vlogging/documenting isn't easy. But you're making really cool stuff.

I do both! A lot of the stories I tell in my videos are straight from my journal!
I’m taking notes ❤ ENJOYED THE VLOG, BEAUTIFULLY shot and edited 😊

Great video .
Thanks For Passing The Energy
I was really considering the 11mm Sony lens for my ZV e10 and I think I'll get it after seeing this, thanks bro
Just remember that both the 11mm and zve10 don’t have stabilization!
@JasonZhao yeah bro I'll use it mostly for static shots but its a good shout thanks for that
Just want to make sure you know, we were here before you blew up!
Welcome to the family!

Full manual everything in slog3 except for focus!
@@JasonZhao how often did you set your white balance when you’re shooting the different scenes and vlogging at the same time? Or did you leave WB on auto?
@KayanushPatel I’ve always been white balance auto!
I will be following you in order to help me with my photo / cinematography journey.
🫡 welcome aboard!
Very good tips here. thank you.

Fire content bro
Good job bro! Watching from UAE-Dubai

I love you bro 😂❤
Love your vids man! Thanks for the perspective!!!
What bad are you using to carry your gear?
Wandrd 6L sling!
I used to use a rode video micro and it didn't sound anywhere near as good as yours. What did you do to make it sound so good?

@@JasonZhao ty sm:)! I subbed since besides your cinematic skills i really enjoy your content and persona!
How about food vlogging content creating? How can you make it cinematic? Interested with your advice.

Where do you go for you music during your videos?
It’s just whatever music I’m listening to at the time +TH-cam to mp3 😉
@@JasonZhao so you don’t get copyrighted?
@@JasonZhao thank you for taking the time to answer my question
Unfortunately, everything’s copyrighted :( but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make to improve the overall atmosphere and feeling of my videos

Hi what would be the best video editing software that you could recommend…
I’ve only ever used Adobe premiere pro! I love it but i believe a lot of creatives are switching over to DaVinci resolve due to its colour grading tools. It also has a free version!
Good 🚃🍀
Do you use luts?
How did you figure out the shutter speed and what fps to shoot in to make it looks cinematic?
Typically shoot in 4k30fps at 1/60. Normally filmmaking is typically at 24fps and 1/48 but for social media compatibility 30fps is my personal choice
What was that song at the end is that SZA?
what video editing software do you most prefer to use?
most comfortable in premiere
where do you get your hoodies
Hours
Loveeeee your video just sub ;)
Welcome to the family
What about your bigger tripod?
Not sure of the name! It’s an old one from my family, metal build but I only bring it out sometimes if I know I’m going to try and be in front of the camera.
camera bag sir?
Wandrd 6L Sling!
How are you using this Tribe Called Quest song? Through a service? Are you able to monetize?
What fanny pack do you use?
It’s the WANDRD 6L Sling!
Bro color name?
Porque seus vídeos não possuem legenda? //// Why don't your videos have subtitles?
I’m not sure, they should be auto generated on by yt
I’ll see what I can do for the next upload!

anyone know if he’s using dehancer?
