- Sony Ericsson's "back with a vengeance" with the Idou. This multimedia monster sports a 12.1MP camera, full toucshcreen, and Symbian OS. It won't ship until later this year, but Noah got a demo of the current prototype at MWC 2009 in Barcelona.

wow ! that ui is super slick, and smooth, its incredible how little lag there is.
i am getting neither could always expect something better than both on the end of the year and there is still much life in my viewty.
my favorite phone from now on

I've been using Sony Ericsson for 6 or more years now, and have always been satisfied. But now I'm really convinced: I'm switching to Samsung, in particular the Omnia HD made me switch. I can't wait for that phone to come out.
Mate, that is EXACTLY what I did! Waited for almost a year for SE to release the thing, then for O2 to actually get it in stock. But when I finally got it, it wasn't half as good as I was expecting. Oh well, at least this looks promising.

Todd Culos who's SE Product Manager said that Idou can support Micro SD card up to 32GB..
Its design,features&performance are the best..
It'll hit the market in Q3 2009,means around July to September..

looks to be the best phone out.... the reason i switched to SE from Nokia is the camera, walkman (i think SE is the first brand that bring QUALITY music to mobile phones) and the easy-to-understand menu/navigation, and of course great designs overall from low end to high-end product lines.... Idou and W995 are another testimony of the great technology from SE...
That is very impressive when you consider that is an early version of the UI and not the final. It makes the N97's UI shown at the same event look quite weak.

Satio is the same phone as Idou, they just renamed it. Aino is the phone that connects to the PS3. They are also releasing a phone called Yari
This is definitely, undeniably the best phone ever and it's even better than the x1.
I guess if it had video conference while talking to some one on the phone would make it even better.Like some other phones out in the market
A resistive touch screen allows you to use your fingernails, finger, stylus, etc.., and is very precise. Palm Treo's have had resistive touch screens for a long time. The iPhone has a Capacitive touch screen. The advantage of capacitive is multi touch, where you can zoom pictures and web pages and what not. Capacitive touch screens are also more durable, as there is no film on top of the screen. But capacitive screens are less precise. You have to use your fingertip, just like a touchpad laptop.

This is probably their 4th Symbian phone, Sony-Ericsson is what I know also first with touch screen, now this model will never get released, instead they have decided to launch two others with ever better specs, they will be called Aino and Satio
I love sony ericsson! I've got Nokia N95 and i really don't like its sound and picture quality. The main reason for my stay at nokia is that its a symbian device!! Now I'm happy to see sony ericsson launching its symbian phone. I will surely buy it!

the phone is great nice touch screen, smoother, no lags, very nice effect, simple and clean but one problem it had to have phone jackers instead of regular ear phones

But it's a camera that you can talk into. You have to love that.
Idou looks to be running the new Symbian 2 OS which is slated for later this year. That alone makes it much better than Samsung's OS.

the response of the touch screen will unlike any other. 2nd to none
I also agree that mini USB and 3.5 mm jack are better than SE port, but that port is what makes SE different than Nokia and so far I hadn´t had problems with it.

Its running the SAME Symbian S60 version as the Omnia HD (5th Revision).
I don't know where you heard its running "Symbian 2".
BTW the Omnia HD has its own GPU for 720p video....and also has an OLED screen. The OLED in particular will give the phone amazing clarity and battery life. And its a capacitative touchscreen....whereas the IDOU uses a resistive touchscreen.
Im a Sony fan, but Sony needs to up the HD in their phones if they want to compete with Samsung's offering.

SE used to be part of the company that owned Symbian along with Nokia then nokia bought it out the company, which is why it's the main platform for Nokia phones, they may have contracted out the OS system or they were allowed to keep the s60 os, probably because SE helped make it. dunno if this information is 100% correct its from the top of my head

Use a 3.5 mm audio jack. Make it a little thicker and stick in an Optical zoom. I know they can do it. I've seen how thin the T series Cybershots are.
This phone doesn't separate itself from other phones except for Megapixel, and that doesn't mean anything without good lens and a great image processor.
Make it an 8 MP camera with these features at the same price. I guarantee, it'll sell like hotcakes.
It's frustrating to see SE keep missing the mark then wonder why they're losing money.

I was assuming that he had a gripe with their regular UI, as the C905 is just a feature phone and the Idou is a smartphone. Sony doesn't have their own smartphone OS, or at least I have yet to hear of it. They usually use WinMo or Symbian. And since the Idou is based on Symbian, it won't have any relation to Sony's regular UI.
wonder how's the software input panel is like for sms..... i dun like having a virtual qwerty layout on the screen.... hope there are other available modes of input panels.

Wait for a couple months and you will have choice b/w X2, Rachael and Idou. Its not advisable to go for Xperia X1 right now as it is a Win Mo and also the Android 2.0 is expected very soon.
No touchscreen will ever beat the one on an iPhone
I am using a SE P990i since 2 yrs & I just can't let go of it. SONY ERICSSON make insanely high Quality phones. I will love to buy the IDOU for my nxt ph but it has to have the 3.5 jack & microUSB, Come on SE Please...i am begging you. And don't take for ever to launch n don't overprice...THX

It's so true that Nokia ph's are not really reliable, in my area i find their svc centre so crowded. This contrasts with a almost empty SE svc place.

its not all about camera quality, to me the os is the most important part of a phone
lets see this is just a pre producrion model its this fast that really makes u think how fast it will be after it is finalized
people be very careful when u buy this phone. they only show the camera and stuff but theres been alot of bad reviews about the battery life. this kid said he fully charged it and it was dead in 23 hours
