This woman should offer online workshops. Her knowledge is extensive. She should make it another source of income. And it will help a lot of ppl become independent at the same time. Thank you Lynn for bringing her knowledge to your platform. 🙏💖
Honestly my sisters I am from DRCongo. But I learned a lot and good things about on how to do planting avocado from seed to bear fruit which is very important for people like us the beginner in avocado fields. My country DRCongo is not at all near of your one Kenya because my country people only have differents business to follow. Thank you very much for you all people doing farming. Merci beaucoup et bonne chance.
Lady knows her stuff. And she was very quick to recognize her team's contribution to the success at 1:30:16. She deserves her success and the sky is the limit
Here in Uganda, I saw her plant it and now she is reaping. Very inspiring, hope soon to follow those footsteps. Thank @Lynn for bringing us such stories. Thank my Kenyan sisters and brothers.
Best teacher and you can see how passionate she is in sharing her knowledge. No need ya going ukibahatisha she has given the BEST information. Thank you so much God bless.
Grace is such a courageous and visionary woman. Her journey of farming is simply remarkable, I doubt I could have made it with all the setbacks. She deserves all the fruit from her labor, she have done exemplary opening up this new frontier in avocado farming.
I have toured several Avocados farms but none beats this one. . The farmer has her craft well planned, articulated and homework well done. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. This is Avocado 101 manual. Lynn you interviews are well mastered, hata wewe 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very good show, I have followed her since she started in 2018. The truth that has not been told in this video is that this venture is very expensive...it's not a poor person crop to grow...it's such an investment
Oh wow I love this one this woman is the reason I have decided to try avocado back in Zambia and my intention is to visit her before I formalise my project
Hass avocado also can stay longer after harvest compared to our own local avocado,I once worked in kitchen in Dubai could notice that , I love the fact she said first check out on market before planting
So beautiful how urban agriculture, agroecology and food sovereignty can be seen in this all together. Also I just love love how agriculture has unveiled diverse opportunities ❤
Lynn I am a Cameroonian living in London, watching you for a while, this is the best. The lady Avocado farmer is a gift to Kenya. My Goodness I wish we have someone like this lady in Cameroon. Cameroon is a huge empty fertile land country, lacking people like this lady.
Very informative and got some lessons to be learned from her experience in growing avocado. Regarding the altitude for growing avocados, as far as I know Hass is guatemalan type of avocado that need cool climate to grow that's why in tropical countries it needs higher altitude in this case above 1,500 meter above sea level. Some of avocados can grow in hot climate and mostly are west indian type. Therefore in Kenya Hass need higher altitude meanwhile in Spain it can be grown in lower altitude.
@1:29..😂😂😂 She is such a vibe.I could listen to her and not notice time passing by.I see why you had 7hrs with her.May she keep up with the goodwork..👏
THIS is a super woman, I just hope she means what she says about helping small scale avocado farmers to grow KTDA style. Could make a perfect woman rep. or good Governor. hongera
I loooove listening to these resourceful ladies. I keep on listening to Grace and i see her love and passion in farming. She is sharp and her willingness to share all these information is amazing. May God continue blessing the work of her hands. May her business and family prosper. Thanks Lynn.
This a very good and informative lesson. Am currently taking MSc Agricultural Extension Education and yes as the agriculture people information taught may not align especially on the spacing that's where tacit knowledge from experience comes in. The ministry should invest in farm visit training from successful agriventures.
This was another heart-warming conversation with Mrs. Karanja, i last saw her when she used to have "Green Gold" on TH-cam as well, am very encouraged by her commitment and determination looking at the milestones she has taken. I hope to visit her farm one day in Kiambu. And I have faith I will also start my farm in Uganda one day. Thanks. Lynn for the show.
Such a good hearted lady… thanks for sharing the fundamentals of starting a business…. Shared info can be applied broadly! more blessings to you! Thanks to you Lynn for enriching us!
She taught well. Nimeelewa. I am in the US, how can I get connected with exporters? I like the idea of identifying a hot commodity and working backwards.
Great conversation Lynn, with Grace. She is such a wealth of knowledge and does not hold back any info like some successful entrepreneurs will, for fear of competition. She seem selfless and wants to grow with her community. I believe she can turn anything she touches into gold. Great work!
Grace Karakuta, kudos congratulations, this is not only inspiring but assuring. Truly there's dignity in labour. Lynn this come so timely, you do excellent job. Yu reach people far beyond yu your imagination. Thank yu alot.
Lyn this is the way to go, kindly talk to our parents ro allow us plant atleast 10 of them in our compund when we start form one so that by form four end we have capital aki cause its so sad to see our youth wallowing in stressed state cause jobs hakuna..i encourage everyone to start small itajipa
Hi from South Africa. This is very informative and thank you @LynnNgugi for your style of interview, you as pertinent questions and allow the interviewee space to express oneself. Your level of attentiveness and subsequent/flow of questions shows you were listening to the answers given, you do not just blurt out pre-written questions and let your mind wonder off but rather you took us the subscibers right under that tree and we were listen and asking through you. To the farmer, thank you for the passion shown and not gate keeping information. Kenya, we love you....I also picked up a lot of similarities in pronunciation when you guys switched to yoour local language....strangely I could follow without subtitles🤣
Hyyy Lynn 👋👋, am Soo granted for such a beautiful agricultural method to plan . Am raised at a family where we do farm Hass avoccados at home, we have planted 60 pieces already have been starting to harvest like 3 years nows ,still we ha planted over 3000 piece's of seed plants, quarter of it we have Grafted . The problem is that, where to find for market for a ready Grafted seed plants........
As a Kenyan who lives in Ireland I see a lot of Kenyan Hass avocados at the Irish supermarkets and always so proud to see and buy them. Two pieces currently go for €2.29 almost Ksh. 400. How i miss buying them back home for 20bob only. Anyway all the best to the farmers and continue selling them to the EU!😊
Am happy to see you sitting under a tree which in 2017 was at knee level, 3 years is just a number, it is very impressive and encouraging for a potential farmer of HASS Avocado.
Institutions in kenya remain exploitative, small scale tea/coffee farmers still get paid less than 100 shillings per kg, decades after being the country's main export products.
The value lies in the finished product unfortunately. As long as farmers keep selling raw products they will be exploited to the end which is quite unfortunate and unfair. However some few farmers get upto $20 per kg for finished coffee
