How To Grow Avocados From A Store Bought Avocado Seed

- Avocados are very easy to grow. You can sprout a store bought seed with very little materials and effort. The only hard part is waiting the 10 years for it to produce. As an avocado farmer I know a way to get your tree to fruit in year 3.

Practical, educative, simplified and easy to grasp. Big contribution to mankind. Thank you so much
that is one heck of a compliment! thank you
Years ago I started an avocado plant by a store bought avocado using the prong method in a glass of water. It grew to to be about six inches tall and my daughter took it to school to show her teacher. Never saw it again. Ever since then I have never been able to grow another no matter how I did it. Now I will try this method. Thank you
god luck!
I was able to grow a plant and then could not do it again. I tried many ways. Wrap the seed in a damp paper towel and put in a plastic zip bag until you can see the roots.
What planting zones are safe to plant avocado in the ground?
A friend started hers in a seed tray and watered with water that had banana peels in it. I tried it and was able to grow 20 seeds, they were about 2+ feet tall when I gave them to friends as gifts.
@@AnonymousOndi what a great gift idea!

Why do I want to grow avocado trees so bad after watching your videos 😂 really enjoyed all the information
I appreciate that Michael.
@SleepyLizard I actually have 3 growing on my desk now. I pinch the top of one today because of your video, but living in TN, they will never thrive outside from what I read on Google.
@@michaelmoore7550 yeah, a tad too cold but you can keep them going as house plants. My dad does it in Pennsylvania
@SleepyLizard my mother lives in punta gorda FL and wants me to bring them to her. I already planted her 10 lemon and 2 mango trees this year. You see where I get it from🤣
You are a straight talker mate, simple, straightforward and to the point in very simple language and illustrations. You sir have applied the KISS method. "Keep it simple stupid", as we say down under, your bloods worth bottling!! Good luck and thanks. Fred

Great instructions, I guess I'm have to pass. By the time the tree starts producing I'm be 87. I'm going to have to spend the money and get one already started. LOL

Thanks for all the useful info. I grow Hass, Fuete and Reed avos and I love the Reed variety because it keeps well so late in the season. Your grafting instructions have encouraged me to graft some Reed avocados.
good luck with the grafts. our late season Monroe are really good too.

My brother all what you showing right there is more than true, especially with the julie mangoes. I saw my grandfather did that many times when i growing up in the late 60s and early 70s and when ever the sketches especially with the julie mangoes,it would come out flowers even before the leaves. But the way did his grafting is,he would take a branch from where the fruit was hanging to do is grafting and in a few months time the starts bearing and he would put a banana leaf on the ground so mango could be protected since the tree small to hold the weight of the mango, it would start bearing and most times he had remove the flowers, i gave you a like and subscribe, you deserve it my boy!!

Ho Ho Ho! Meeeeery Christmas! to you, your family and your workers! How do you manage to always bring a smile to my face, especially when talking about avocados! TOp notch quality and productivity and very educational. I still learned a few thing from the video. I fertilized my main avocado with liquid 5-5-7 fertilizer, but it's now droopy. I watered it on the sides, but worryingly, it didn't do much. I have a bad feeling that the root system has compromised. I will water it again tomorrow, I think I didn't water it enough.
Mango update: I can finally (or already, becaue it didn't take long) see the stem coming out. The seed is dark green. However, I'm seeing ome fungus gnats. And there is a bit of mold and foul smell. But the viability is higher.
Anyways, today is my last day of school before the holidays. WOOHOO! I don't wanna be late, so I might comment later. Byeee
last day of School!
I really enjoy your explanation
and I appreciate your comment, thank you
That was fantastic. Have been thinking about how to graft my beautiful tree onto another. Thank you so much. And it was not boring like some. Regards. Chris.
thanks for the compliment
Nice video❤
Thank you Jem
Great video as always. When will you sell grafting sticks again. I remember long ago you used to sell them and I no longer ever see them on the website.
Hi Angel, I no longer sell cuttings nor trees online. Too many regulations, inspections and certifications which vary state by state. I stick to selling the fruit these days. I'm fully certified for that.
My wife has been wanting to go on a road trip for a while now. Would we be able to come down and buy some cuttings so we could do our own grafting?
I was an otr truck driver when I met my now wife, a drive doesn't scare us, it excites us 😅

glad to hear it!
Nice i learn the correct way of planting avocado seeds thanks
good luck with your trees
Thanks Tom, great info!
About 14 months ago, my daughter went to Puerto Rico. She flew back to her home in Seattle Wa. with 2 large avocados purchased from a store in PR. She mailed the seeds to me in San Diego, Ca. I planted the seeds just as you did in this video. Seven months later the two seeds began growing little trees! I’m going to let the larger seed tree grow without grafting. The smaller seed tree will get grafted from a mature Nabal avocado tree. I was going to prune the large seed tree at about 4 ft., but now, after watching your video, I guess I should start now! My two little trees are about 30 inches tall.
What do you suggest?
I have no suggestion at all. Your plan is perfect.
Thank you!
Merry Christmas!
bullshit story.
Great video, love your explanation. Mine is about 5 years and it’s like a pole
now you know why. If you start to prune from the top it will branch out.
Thank you, you are very clear on the instruction 😊
thx Karen
Does you Sell Trees ? I have a House In FL Like to Grow a Couple. Great Job on the Class
thank you for the compliment. I no longer sell trees, only fruit.
What is the shortest an avocado bush can be before bearing fruit? Cheers from Ottawa, Canada 🍁
Hi Gio, it takes 10 years for a seed grown avocado tree to reach maturity
This is an excellent tutorial on growing your own avo's or for that matter another fruit/citrus tree. Very informative, thank you for showing and sharing. All the very best for 2024 kind regards
thanks for the compliment
I love your explanation very loud and clear, I love it will give it a try🥰🥰
good luck!
It feels like I have watched this video before. Only the other guy was a few years younger. But not as good looking.
I've covered most of these topics in other vids yes. I felt the urge to condense it all into one vid and try to answer the questions I typically get.
And yes, I'd say right now I'm in the best shape of my life 💪☺️
God bless and Jesus loves everyone ❤️🙌 God is awesome and He makes beautiful and wonderful masterpieces ✝️🙏 He is here for us. God loves us so much that He gave Jesus to save us from our sins so we can go to Heaven when we repent, believe in and follow Jesus. Does anyone want to know Jesus Christ?🫂😇

After so much time spent watching people grow avocadoes in so many different ways, I still finish videos like these as if it were the first time I'd heard of the techniques.
yes and repetition helps the learning process too
@@SleepyLizard Hey, are you going to do a video on air layering trees?
I sense zero satire here, and I verily prefer satirical videos :(
I've got some satire in my vid about magic mango seeds: th-cam.com/video/snl-1Rs4wsQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IPSs2XdJ9CTuUObV
God bless you and Jesus loves you, do you know Him?
@@brookiepoo4812 I'm not sure if you mean the same guy but there's a Jesus that owns a fruit stand down the street from us.
@@SleepyLizard no, I mean Jesus Christ the Son of God and Lord and Savior
@@brookiepoo4812 that's a relief because it would be weird if the guy who owns the fruit stand down the street loves me.
