I've been looking forward to the next shed video! I'm building a 10x20 version of the same exact shed, so you've been a lifesaver walking me through each step!
Great video! Here's a trick that works for me: whenever possible hold the nail between your index and middle fingers with your fingernails against the building. Much less painful than pinching the nail and hitting your fingers over and over. Might be worth a try!
Great video. I am going to start putting vinyl siding on my old house, never did it before. I have been watching a lot of videos, but this one really helped me solidify all the basic concepts. Watching you do it all on a small wall gave me a clear picture of how all the parts come together and exactly how the various strips and tools are used. Thank you.
Use a pneumatic stapler to install siding (thru and over nail flange) way faster, still allows movement if depth is set properly. Also, bottom edge of mini house would benefit from a fluid applied flashing and drip cap flashing. Ground contact treaded wood bridge material between wood and ground/ foundation etc use thick mil plastic/foam/rubber, will keep wood lasting longer …. Also, above the entry door on the roof, install a rain deflector a shingle row or so up is a nice add.
Overdubbed "corner post" made me laugh! Great series of build videos! Wife said, are you planning to build our shed? I thought we were just having it delivered. I said, Karl makes it look so easy! :)
@@EveryotherKarl I suspect you talk about it at some point but do you have a rough estimate on time to build this? I am very handy, but my engineering background definitely slows me down. But I can easily do 12 hour days!
Amazing video bro. Keep up the good work! Another insane ski destination is Stowe VT. I recently skied there at spruce peak and Mt. Mansfield, and you HAVE to try it out. Keep posting. I can see you getting over 100k subs.
Another great video. I have a 30 year old shed I built when we built our house. The shed was primarily to be a pump house. I didn’t put on house wrap and now I have rotted OSB to replace. The lower 3 panels have holes from something like a mower or the pile of metal and wood that was placed there. Yeah I know, my fault. 🤦♂️ So if I heard you right, the vinyl siding is not meant to keep the wood dry but the house wrap is. I may just have to remove all my vinyl and start over. Ugh. Thanks again for your informative videos. All the best from north Texas.
Great video. I've never really looked at the specifics of installing vinyl siding, and it looks like you did a quality job. That being said I find it disappointing that you built this shed like a tank so far, and then decided to wrap it in plastic. It's not a choice I would have made, but I'm sure it helped keeps cost and labor down. I've had homes with vinyl siding and it fades, stains, cracks, and can be difficult to clean when it starts molding/mildewing.
I have a genuine question that I really need answered. I am about to do siding on my house. At the top of the wall, do I need to use Jchannel and undersill trim all the way around the top, or can I use strictly just undersill trim?
@@loganwilliams3296 oh man, I don't remember exactly, but I know I measured the square footage of my walls and then subtracted the total square footage of my windows and door.. that got me very close. Unfortunately I don't have those numbers on hand.
nice job - I learned three things - the two little tools for the siding - and the snap thingies to snap at the top - I did not know that for real. I am going to in a week or so build 12x20X8 feet tall in my back yard - with siding like this and windows - I might ever be stupid enough to drywall inside it and a few solar panels on top - but only if I am a fool because I got no time for this type of shit..lol
One of the most thorough and helpful video productions on TH-cam. I can’t imagine this channel not having 100K subscribers.

Very detailed and educational video. Great job. The video not only teaches, it inspires.

I’m doing T1-11 on the outside of mine so now after I enjoy the electrical video I’m going to have to find a different video for tips 😢
Great video man!!! Although I will say the finishing strips are not needed
could vinyl siding be installed directly over primed/painted osb or t1-11 siding?
@@xisotopex it could be, but I would still suggest adding house wrap behind the siding to help the wood last longer.

Can you remember how many sq ft you ordered for your siding? I'm doing a 10x14 exactly like this and just wanted to make sure! Thanks!
