    When you remove grips from an old club, save them. Cut them long ways and keep them around. When you need to swing weight, set of clubs, sort through your grips that you have find one that matches the weight that you want and just slip that over the Griffin to the club when you swing weighed it. It’s more accurate than rubberbanding it to the shaft.

    Wish i watched this before i did mine! ha. I didn't know about swing weights when i built mine up, so i have no idea what mine are. Took my old heads, bought some shafts on ebay, and put them together. And now that i'm learning more about SW... it makes me wonder!

    I like to use a deburring tool for the inside of the shaft after its cut to remove sharp edges.

    Use denatured alcohol, not grip solvent, for epoxy cleanup

    Great videos...just found you...wondering if you could direct a new builder on where/how to purchase shafts/clubs/weights general club builder material?

      Golfworks, Billy Bobs, Grips 4 Less are all good options for shaft, grips, and tools/supplies.

    Watched a lot of your videos. Where do I find the tool you use to clean out the hosel (not the brush, I have one of those)? Does the length of a club include the grip? I have many more questions, but thought I'd start with these.

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The sanding dowels can be found on most club making websites.
      You should include a 1/4 inch to your measurements to account for the additional grip end length.

    Great video. How do you know that the shaft flex is going to be the one that the client needs before asembling all the clubs?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We did a fitting before deciding on these shafts to figure out both weight, flex, and feel.

    • @alejandrogarrido2372
      @alejandrogarrido2372 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EFGMC Thanks you for your answer. The doubt I have is, in the fitting you decided what cpm/flex is right for the client, but how do you make sure that the clubs are in the correct flex/cpm when assembled as you didn't check anything before and after cutting the shaft.

    😂😂😂😂 Just like when I was taught. You want to be so careful and move so slow, a bird can swoop down and build a nest on you! In a year, he will be moving like lightning!

    Hi , I have an old set of Top-Flite irons 1998 I think, dynamic gold shafts at 120gr and I was losing distance, I tried some clubs with a 60gr shaft (R) and was wondering if soft stepping would be the way to go, distance was back maybe 5 yards better, I'm getting on a bit now (65) but I really like the top flites when they're polished up , any help would be very much appreciated

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The stepping of an iron shaft will only have a very very small impact on the results. I would just focus on finding the right weight and not worry about soft or hard stepping.

      Many thanks for taking the time to reply, I've managed to get all the headweights in a steady progression (7-9grams) now for all the hard work .

    Do you always swing weight match your clubs or do you sometimes do MOI match?

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ideally like a hybrid model where the long irons are a point or so lighter and the 9 into wedges are a point or so heavier.

    • @dennissmith1904
      @dennissmith1904 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EFGMC based on reading stuff from Tom Wishon and on Golf WRX i built myself a poor mans MOI matching set by going with 3/8" increments in length and 0.5 swing weight les as clubs get longer. Have really liked it

    Do you know of any process to take a traditional iron and give it a black or copper finish?

    • @EFGMC

      I know of companies that do those sorts of refinishes, but how they do it is out of my expertise.

      Go to *Brad Meehan's channel.* He's a DIY'er and he did a copper plating of some old Walter Hagen irons.

    • @EFGMC
      @EFGMC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In most cases I use shaft tip weights that fit inside the shaft before you epoxy the club together. It's the cleanest looking option.
