You forgot to mention the game isn't finished yet, the devs has said it's maybe 60% complete, so bugs and incomplete/missing features are to be expected. Apart from that, great video!
Even with all the bugs, stolen ideas, and unfinished/barren areas, it's still kinda impressive how this game turned out based on the interviews. A handful of amateur developers with a small budget and a guy they found at a convenience store that knew about guns because guns are outlawed in Japan is a hilarious origin story. And it's still in early access so the game *might* get a lot better. Though, it seems like after every update they've made, the game feels less stable so we'll see lol. They probably didn't expect this much success.
As a businessman, if people are making money off of a product, I like people coming up with their own ideas to take credit for their success. Just my thought.
The game seems LESS stable to you?! I'm not saying you are wrong, but that's not what I've experienced. Single player from the start ran pretty well with the occasional Pal glitching through the floor as the base loads in or them 'T' posing for a sec, also as the base loads in. But since the first or second update I haven't seen that yet. As for multiplayer, that was buggy as heck and has gotten slightly better for me.
Calling small budget 6 million is somewhat difficult to accept. Also not even close they are an indie studio with 11 people working on the game, tbf there is no clear definition of indie but if i had to make an comparison it would be hollow knight that had 3 people working on it which i reconsider indie. But i respect their effort and achievement because they had to switch to an engine none of them was familiar to, so i wouldn't have been surprised if they would have given up midway because unity couldn't run the game.
My GF and I are mostly “Gen Wunners” and this has been an incredible game for us to co op and have a dedicated server with friends. The part that hooked me the most was figuring out how to automate getting resources with base Pals. I get big dopamine hits when we just have majorly stacked resources and we can focus on adventuring
@@EMLPTTC Yeah, but he showed it among games which were okay, because the creature design was very different from Pokemon. It doesn't make sense however, because monsters from Persona was created much earlier, and even if they had similar design it would be Pokemon problem, not Persona's.

Even if it's stolen, with 10x less budget this is the closest pokemon game we dreamed about that game freak can never deliver. Palworld is pretty much Peter Pan.
Serious question what do people want from a Pokemon game. That this game has given you? This just seems like an Ark clone with knock off Pokemon added as a twist from what I've seen.
Crazy how when a game is 30 bucks and supports playing with your friends is selling like hot cakes. I completed everything in the game and I had a blast. Some of the higher levels were really grindy, but I had a blast overall
I play Ark, have around 2.3k hours into it. I absolutely love the fact Palworld took inspiration from Ark. :D Also, I gotta say this, I have not encountered any of these glitches myself. I got shoved through the floor when I rag dolled and was dead but never seen any of these. XD
Wood - I wanted to compliment you on your creativity of this video. And the last one as well. I laughed out loud multiple times while watching this one. I know you've mentioned this a couple of times on the podcast but you can really tell that you're putting in some extra effort to make your videos a little different than before. Props to you man.
I love how many tubers and jurnos are so dense that they don't understand the difference between an early access game and a full release having the same amount of bugs 😂😂
Personally, I’ve had next to no glitches. Even when I’ve had it’s been the same thing, I’ll spawn under the floor. Exit the server, re-enter. Fixed. It’s in early access and was made by a tiny team. Compared to Pokémon’s larger team and large budget 💀
Palworld cant be sued, game has been in progress for 3 years and has released nearly every Pal they designed along the way, if GameFreak wanted to shut it down they would've. GameFreak is the most Litigious Company ever they would've sued before this game could be released.
Personally I think they took more from Zelda (breath of the wild), ark, grounded and Elden ring. Of course they borrowed from Pokémon too but I think that people are taking some of the pal comparisons way too seriously and far. Amazing game sometimes you don’t need to invent a new wheel to have a great game.
I think the main reason palworld blew up so much is it’s somehow relatively stable when compared to any recent Pokemon game is and considering this game is still in early access had a budget of under 7 million usd and a staff size around 10 people it’s clear to see how and why Pokémon fans would want to latch onto this as this is a very small indie studio rather than a multi billion company shoveling the unfinished games to you.
this same type of problem keeps happening with think that musicians are "stealing" from one another when no musicians who are even alive today made up any of the chords or notes that have been used for centuries. just make your stuff and have fun with it. and so what if people think Palworld is stealing? it mean just mean competition for pokemon to start polishing their games before they put them out. youre not gonna go sue burger king for every breakfast item that looks like a mcdonalds item so just pick which one you like and sit down and enjoy life.
I played palworld on pc and I didn't experience that many bugs like what you described. The game only crashed ONCE in my 190 hours of playtime and the only annoying part of it was the AI bugs out when assigning work to pals and the broken catch rate (which they already fixed in their latest update). In fact, I'd say it runs better than majority of the games I've bought in recent years.
There is two differences between Pokemon and palword. Palworld is buggy because it's early access while pokemon is buggy at full release lol I said. Before and I'll say again palworld isn't a copy it's an upgrade
PalWorld is what every lifelong Pokemon player has wanted for the last 15 years. Yes, it is not perfect but, I grew up playing the ElderScrolls games and, those were filled with glitches also. What I like the most is getting all your friends together and building a community. This game still runs better than many AAA games at release, and they're still in "Beta"
I absolutely love this video, I appreciate your hardwork so much. Finding and putting every recemblance between pal-pokémon must have been very long. Thank you so much to make me laugh!
I gotta say, considering Palworld is early access, and half the price, it still manages to look less glitchy and way more visually impressive than Scarlet/Violet. I'm looking forward to grabbing it once it's out of early access, if it doesn't get sued into oblivion first.
I am in awe at how I have somehow only had one glitch my entire playthrough, and it was the game spawning me into a campfire instead of infront of my palbox.
So the thing with the human Pals being invisible wasn't originally a thing, I noticed after one particular update they started disappearing when you threw them out.
correct. I saw way less glitches, then they pushed a version fix to address some people's glitches, created more for other people. I'd say give it time. Game came out early access like 3 weeks ago. I don't think these people seem to understand that concept, you know, work in progress.
I hate that the Microsoft Store (and Game Pass) version of the game is WAY behind in updates and doesn't even have DLSS and actual multiplayer servers while Steam has both plus less bugs.
So... It turned out months later that Palworld did steal, but not the designs, assets and visuals, they stole several patented game mechanics that are Nintendo's intellectual property and PocketPair is now being sued for multiple patent infringements because they didn't have Nintendo's permission for those game mechanics. And since it is not yet known what mechanics have been involved in this case, it is possible that many other games have been guilty of the same crime, such as Ark Survival Evolved and Ascended by Studio Wildcard, which is a similar game to Palworld but contains dinosaurs, anciet animals and robots instead of magical elemental creatures. What an interesting era.
Has anyone seen that picture of the original dragon quest monsters? Funnily enough a lot of Pokémon have very similar looks to them too. And that came out years before Pokémon also. To me it's not theft unless you actually see Pikachu holding a machine gun or a player riding onyx through the forests in the game.
Finally the digimon video we've all been waiting for. Tbh the production value on this video is so high, it's probably one of the best videos you've made yet.
I'll be honest, I feel like most of the issues you were talking about in this video, are because you were playing multiplayer. I have encountered very few significant bugs in singleplayer. The only bugs I've really encountered are, pals and other NPC's clipping into walls and such while fighting them. A sound bug where sometimes I'll get a water or fire sound that gets stuck and continuously plays, and the only way to fix it is to restart the game, which only takes like 10 seconds anyways. Lastly, is my own pals having buggy pathing and getting stuck on objects inside of the base, which in my opinion is the biggest and most annoying problem I've encountered so far. These are literally the only three significant bugs I've encountered so far, and the game is in early access, so I think it's safe to say that it's almost certain these will get fixed in future updates. As far as the game crashing problem some people have apparently been having, my game hasn't crashed once, granted I didn't play on launch, so maybe it was fixed? Either that, or it's a multiplayer problem, because again, I haven't experienced a single crash in about 100 hours of playtime playing solo. I do agree there are a few pals that blatantly ripped off an asset from a Pokémon and slapped in on something else, like the Meowth face, or the hair of that one pal, Azurobe I think. In these few instances, where they straight up ripped off actual assets from Pokémon, I think they should at some point, the sooner the better, go in and change those to make them more unique. The same goes for the breath of the wild icons and sound effects that are also ripped straight from Zelda, wouldn't hurt to change those either.
I think the only bugs I encountered now is occasionally pals still get stuck in my base when gathering and enemies some times clip into walls when I am in dungeons due to catching em too close to a wall. They are fixing the bugs which is something some game companies don't do. I never had bug with the humans they appear just fine for me. Unfortunately you can't catch the tower bosses anymore unless you revert patches. The glider is waste of technology points when you can use a pal to fulfill the roll however favorite of glider pals is Killamari. I think the only dispointment when it comes to boss or shiny pals is the fact team up skills make em appear as some normal sized pal.
Ppl who are harsh on this game still fail to understand that it's in EARLY ACCESS... Even still they are pumping out bug fix's like crazy and also working with Microsoft to get them out for the XBox players. I have over 200hrs in this game and I'm LOVING it. I cannot wait to see what else they do with Palworld ^_^

@WcaVR I don't think you know enough about the game you're defending tbh, nobody is pretending they didn't rip off several of the "Pals," or the Pokeballs, or the game design. To be 100% fair to Pocketpair, this game was built on Unity tutorials and a dream. Now that the Early Access has given them some actual funding, I am hoping they will take some time to vary their designs and clean up the bugs. It's not quite the same as the Pokémon Company delivering a similar mess despite being the most popular game franchise of all time.
No the current palworld was not created in Unity anymore it's actually made by an Unreal Engine now. The ones that they showed in trailers a year ago was made in unity, and the palworld that was released in early access is made in Unreal engine.
What I dont see is anyone talking about the "copied" Assets from Ark, eldenring, and Genshin are Default Unreal Engine 5 Assets Even the UI... So why isnt anyone calling Ark an asset flip? Why is Genshin Original? How come Elden ring gets a pass for using default engine assets? The more mud that is thrown at palworld the more it reveals BIllion to Trillion dolar companies are doing what an indie team of 5 did.
a bit of a caveat for the start of the video, listing the similarities in glitches between palworld and pokemon. palworld is in early access alpha. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet were in full release. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet had more glitches weeks into release than palworld have now.
And PocketPair has already released patches addressing many of these bugs (and, to be fair, introducing new ones, lol). They've been extremely responsive and have posted a roadmap for the future. For the Scarlet/Violet bugs, we got a late acknowledgement that the quality wasn't up to snuff, and...? At least until they burn out, the PocketPair guys have been on point with responding to technical issues. Here's hoping they can actually go home once in a while.
Id like to add that i love the people arguing against Palworld because of "aNiMal cRueLtY" due to making pals work, when pokemon is built on the concept of dog fighting😂
Palword is basically a "F You!" to Gamefreak for releasing a glitchy barely finished mess and only caring about money. Thanks Wood for the comparisons to things other than Pokemon but an indy game having bugs isn't as big of a deal as a billion dollar franchise releasing an unfinished game! Thank you Wood for exposing the bigger picture though!

Unfortunately, most of these corporations are run by people who just buy a license for what's popular at the time of purchase, i.e. Pop Music. Another unfortunate drawback to this is the fact that the local owner can't use music that he has purchased the license to, if he has any, because the gym is part of a corporate chain.

You forgot to mention the game isn't finished yet, the devs has said it's maybe 60% complete, so bugs and incomplete/missing features are to be expected. Apart from that, great video!
And the rest 40% will be a straight up copy of Pokemon. I hope Nintendo sues them.
@@AeyGee as if Pokemon has anything worth copying to begin with.
@@ranin3209 Then why Palworld exists? Did you even see Wood's video? Lol.
@@AeyGeefuck em. They copy too. At least palworld is fun. And Nintendo ain't sueing them.
@@AeyGee the game is half the price of a pokemon game, has more content and is more fun
@@iTechGamingLOLdo you not know how much they spend to make games? 6 million ain’t much
They probably didn't have to hire many concept artists which would keep the costs down
I’ve played 60 hours of Palworld and can’t wait to play another 166
No wonder the world is full of thieves, instead of creative people. Why make something OG when you copy this blatantly.

I also love the automation can’t wait for them to make it completely automatable
You should play gen 5 Pokemon. I bet you'd like it.
Showing Persona as one of Pokemon rip-offs was weird, when in reality SMT series is like ten years older.
Was gonna comment a similar thing
He didn't say that Persona was a pokémon clone. He just said that it's another creature catching game like Pokemon is
@@EMLPTTC Yeah, but he showed it among games which were okay, because the creature design was very different from Pokemon. It doesn't make sense however, because monsters from Persona was created much earlier, and even if they had similar design it would be Pokemon problem, not Persona's.

Serious question what do people want from a Pokemon game. That this game has given you? This just seems like an Ark clone with knock off Pokemon added as a twist from what I've seen.
@MAJ724 maybe people want actual voice-over conversation within the storyline? Just a thought.
@@MAJ724 they want a game that doesnt look like crap still. Can still look animated but better. Company just too lazy to do that
Crazy how when a game is 30 bucks and supports playing with your friends is selling like hot cakes. I completed everything in the game and I had a blast. Some of the higher levels were really grindy, but I had a blast overall
I play Ark, have around 2.3k hours into it. I absolutely love the fact Palworld took inspiration from Ark. :D
Also, I gotta say this, I have not encountered any of these glitches myself. I got shoved through the floor when I rag dolled and was dead but never seen any of these. XD
Its funny how Pokemon wants to release the same game every few years. And then they get mad when someone innovates on a similar idea
Compared to Pokémon’s larger team and large budget 💀
see the thing for me is, they may be stealing, but they’re stealing from all of my favorite games and putting them together THATS AWESOME😭😭😭
also honestly the bugs aren’t horrible for me🤷♂️
No no and no
Palworld cant be sued, game has been in progress for 3 years and has released nearly every Pal they designed along the way, if GameFreak wanted to shut it down they would've. GameFreak is the most Litigious Company ever they would've sued before this game could be released.
This is an early access and performs as well as Scarlett😅
Exactly
No reason to be mean, Palworld is way superior to Scarlett hahaha
You're right
I Literally never had any of these glitches lol
I remember when I was watching Dragon Ball spotting all the Pokémon such as Charizard. Aerodactyl and Diglett. Also, Stardew Valley has Digletts.
I’ve honestly not experienced even half of the bugs you have, and yes the lava is fixed now
Because he played online with a friend on a server, the game runs better in Singleplayer
im more surprised this game is regarded so highly when its not even finished
PalWorld is what every lifelong Pokemon player has wanted for the last 15 years. Yes, it is not perfect but, I grew up playing the ElderScrolls games and, those were filled with glitches also. What I like the most is getting all your friends together and building a community. This game still runs better than many AAA games at release, and they're still in "Beta"
alpha
I absolutely love this video, I appreciate your hardwork so much. Finding and putting every recemblance between pal-pokémon must have been very long. Thank you so much to make me laugh!
welcome tot the multiplayer experience, non of this happened in my solo game
I like how the cover of the video is just two sheep creatures and how it implies how palworld stole the concept of sheep
lol, Rockafeller owns the sheep patent! Has since 1893!
This is exactly my feeling about palworld! Yay for having someone to explain it so eloquently
the music you used was so fitting for each section, love it
A cow and snorlax are the same? This kind of comparison is why I can't take people who say they are stolen seriously
Its got the eyes man the line eyes that are popular in all anime.. pokemon invented it Man. get with the times Game freak are time travelers.
All right Nintendo Fanboy don't get mad because it's a good game out there for a different console that you don't like
Great editing Wood. I know you said you’re doing things differently with the videos and it shows. im loving it.
Pocket Pair and their logo is a Texas Hold ‘Em reference
to be fair, it could be coincidence
Palworld is successful because it is a damn good game, unlike Pokémon's new entries. It is that simple.
Ark fans are not angry because they're mature even at age of 6
I think the only bugs I encountered now is occasionally pals still get stuck in my base when gathering and enemies some times clip into walls when I am in dungeons due to catching em too close to a wall.
Your witty creativity for these vids not only deserves a sub but makes every vid a 10/10, you above and beyond when it comes to reviews
I love it too! I dont get what the problem is with people and hating on this game
I seen an interview of the Pokemon creator saying he did use ideas from Dragon quest since he was a big fan of it when he was younger 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I don't know how, but you managed to capture every good and bad thing about this game, presented them both in a way that gave due credit to both and made both sides of the argument completely understandable and reasonable - AND managed to make me laugh so much. I'm SUPER loving these scripted videos lately (even though I love all your videos really 🙂)
I really enjoy the direction you went with this video. This is high quality stuff man.

Palworld has been more fun and addicting than anything Game Freak ever came out with, and I’m a Pokémon veteran. The closest thing to that level of entertainment from Pokémon was Legends Arceus. 😊
i buy my clothing from many companies, do i care they're all similar? nope. Do i care that genre's in gaming have similarities? nope.
That's a little reductive of what's occurring here, there's no point in ignoring that they stole Pokemon designs for alot of their monsters lol its not illegal and people still like that game but it's not "similarities within a genre."😂

@WcaVR That's not even close to the same thing, and I think you're being a bit obtuse in pretending it is😂 Game development and clothing production are not even remotely similar in terms of how complex they are or how they operate. Using similar basic patterns isn't the same thing as having a game with several, and i mean SEVERAL, individual creative ideas that very closely resemble Pokemon characters and game design. A better comparison would be an entire clothing company's product line having parody with a knockoff company's clothing line. Not just a single skirt. this is a fact & only overlooked by people who want gaming to be protected.
@WcaVR I don't think you know enough about the game you're defending tbh, nobody is pretending they didn't rip off several of the "Pals," or the Pokeballs, or the game design. That's the only way you could come to the conclusion that they didn't copy Pokemon lol. Calling them "gaming similarities," is such an understatement, you probably just don't play this game or Pokemon lol
Pokémon players just annoyed a random developer did the whole concept better - Pokémon developers should get their pikachu notepads and pens out and take some notes

@@serpentblader0957 Right, my bad. The statement should have been "Unreal Engine tutorials and a dream."
After so many disappointing Pokemon Games..I welcomed Palworld with open arms
I mean, ARK didn't invent survival games. The game might have stuff from ARK, but it being a survival game is not one
Palworld is full of bugs rn because its in early access asking for player feedback something pokemon has never done and probably never will 😂😅
Close, See Pokemon does ask for feedback, makes forums to say they'll make patches to fix those errors... and they NEVER do.
Your take on palworld might just be the most well rounded. You rock bro. 🤘
a bit of a caveat for the start of the video, listing the similarities in glitches between palworld and pokemon. palworld is in early access alpha.
Pokemon S/V are still an unoptimized and laggy mess. Less horrific glitches now but they really haven't done much to improve it.
When he turned around at the 12 minute mark-ish, I lost it lmao.
Id like to add that i love the people arguing against Palworld because of "aNiMal cRueLtY" due to making pals work, when pokemon is built on the concept of dog fighting😂
I see what you meant by higher quality videos. This was awesome!

Thank you Wood for exposing the bigger picture though!
palworld is still less buggy than any pokemon game on the switch

Your gym plays music that the corporate chain has aquired a license to use commercially.
