For most of the first few games Yoshi had a sword that he rarely ever used. After seeing this character I expect Yoshimitsu in T8 to be going ham with his sword now. Every string should include the sword.

I agree. But until Tekken 5 the craziest moves were True Ogre's teleport/breathing fire, demons shooting lasers, and Yoshimitsu with a weapon and most were rarely seen. Now there are teleports, invisible dashes, and weapons everywhere every round.
Yeah, but Yoshimitsu was the only one with a weapon and his stabs were slow or unblockable. Nowadays they have a Soul Calibur approach and you block blades like it's tuesday. Looks way different.

Favorite thing coming out of this trailer was the music. I feel like I’m gonna be on this stage a lot I definitely prefer marital arts based characters but he gets a 10/10 for swag points. Lars, Raven, noctis hybrid? Not my style and I think they move way too much. Sounds like a nightmare… but unlike those 3 characters I think I’ll actually give him a solid try. I come out of this trailer thinking the music is fire, character is super cool and hits are satisfying- last time I felt like that was Fahkumram’s trailer and I really succeeded with him early on. There's a bunch of master raven stuff going on here actually, like that omni-counter at arpund 10:05, as well as his teleports land him in a really similar stance as masted raven (jump down, legs apart), so maybe whats happening here is that they realised (correctly) that master raven focusing on teleports instead of clones gave her a unique flavor which was too bad to lose, so they imported her style to Victor here. I actually kinda wish this was just master raven again but this is a cool enough guy so here we go i guess. Really looking forward to the TAS footage that come from him, raven, and yoshimitsu though PS 11:01 is that a yoshi style flash lmao

After the hype died down, I’m realizing we already have Nina that finally gets to use her guns. So, I’m not sure why he had to have so many elements to his toolkit. He swapped suits with Lee and is a combination of maybe 3-4 characters. He’s cool, but I’m not really pressed to play him. I wish he was DLC tbh.
So his d4 is just Jin's d2 lol. Fast low CHs getting a short guaranteed follow up with no launch seems best. I always felt dirty even with T7 Jin's db4 before the nerf.

Yeah, I prefer a more martial arts based roster. A little weapon usage is cool, but the sword and the teleporting is just too much. The stage and the drip is 10/10 tho.
Gotta say I'm pretty disappointed. When I saw the leaks say CQC I was expecting a grounded military style of combat with a good throw game and CH game. Some people will for sure love Victor but he's definitely not for me. Must also be said his design and stage are S tier
I understand that some of us might not like 'anime stuff' But for those that say "ugh tekken becoming more anime" I wanna remind you that we have half human/half demon bois, actual bears, a ninja/samurai with a demonic sword , fighting aztec god and all of this is only up to Tekken 3. Tekken has never been ONLY grounded martial arts, but always a mix of realistic stuff and anime/fantasy stuff.

People crying over weapons and flashy moves isn't tekken anymore snorts crack. Didn't know devils shooting lasers and flying in the air, animals with martial arts and humanlike actions, robots slashing and shooting with their weapons and punching/kicking with their metal body counts as traditional and grounded martial arts. Somehow a human being with weapons and flashy mobility isn't. Get with the times since players who enjoys these types of characters are the majority of the sales of tekken. Be grateful to these players funded tekken 8 to look this good. That's the reason why they keep making these types of characters since it will boost the sales of the game.
Unfortunately while I like how he and his stage looks as well as what the story direction seems to be for him, I really don't care for what appears to be his moveset, even when you look at other Tekken characters with weapons like Yoshimitsu, Kunimitsu or Raven, their moves make it very easy to recognize they are martial artists first, with this new character you can't tell because he barely uses his body and his animations are very generic and untekken-like.
I disagree, watch his actual animations and you'll see many great animations such as his CQC CAR Gun style, and Iaido sword drawing. He animates very well
I sort of disagree that he's not recognizable, even though it's not martial arts either. it's pretty obvious he's inspired by more modern western action films; it's easy to recognize a lot of poses from films such as John Wick (the way he checks his gun or his firing style) or Kill Bill (the way he stands with the katana).

on my humbled opnion its good to see a new character in the game but lets face it tekken is taken a different path, people will play but also it can be a flop. we are men playing fighting game not kids playing animated characters. this guy does not belong in tekken, bring up all the old character such as old man wang, roger azazel, Jinpachi, ogre, angel, baek, Dr. Bosconovitch and sebastian all with added new moves combo and stance and lets us play some good ass tekken.
This is good ass tekken for new players like me, you guys are simply getting too old
@@i3ssb00st5 hahaha, true but tekken is no longer just a fun game it's a lucrative competitive game, people travel for this game to battle just to see who is the best standing that going to take the biggest prize hence why we want it to keep old school as fighting game, meaning not too much amine, guns, flashes lights etc let's keep it simple and hard fighting but we welcome improvement along way.

I think its just that its a mulltiple weapons. Its definitely more Kunimitsu than Noctis to me with the daggers.

After the hype died down, I’m realizing we already have Nina that finally gets to use her guns. So, I’m not sure why he had to have so many elements to his toolkit. He swapped suits with Lee and is a combination of maybe 3-4 characters. He’s cool, but I’m not really pressed to play him. I wish he was DLC tbh.
Either give him a sword, knife, or gun, not all three. It's a bit too much.
So his d4 is just Jin's d2 lol. Fast low CHs getting a short guaranteed follow up with no launch seems best. I always felt dirty even with T7 Jin's db4 before the nerf.
They basically put noctis back in the game with a new name and new skin.
I don't like neon sword and relic malfunction teleport effects. As you said he is like lars and raven. Did tekken really need this? He doesn't really add anything to the table.

Yeah, I prefer a more martial arts based roster. A little weapon usage is cool, but the sword and the teleporting is just too much. The stage and the drip is 10/10 tho.

Gotta say I'm pretty disappointed. When I saw the leaks say CQC I was expecting a grounded military style of combat with a good throw game and CH game. Some people will for sure love Victor but he's definitely not for me. Must also be said his design and stage are S tier

Tekken has never been ONLY grounded martial arts, but always a mix of realistic stuff and anime/fantasy stuff.

People crying over weapons and flashy moves isn't tekken anymore snorts crack. Didn't know devils shooting lasers and flying in the air, animals with martial arts and humanlike actions, robots slashing and shooting with their weapons and punching/kicking with their metal body counts as traditional and grounded martial arts. Somehow a human being with weapons and flashy mobility isn't. Get with the times since players who enjoys these types of characters are the majority of the sales of tekken. Be grateful to these players funded tekken 8 to look this good. That's the reason why they keep making these types of characters since it will boost the sales of the game.

Unfortunately while I like how he and his stage looks as well as what the story direction seems to be for him, I really don't care for what appears to be his moveset, even when you look at other Tekken characters with weapons like Yoshimitsu, Kunimitsu or Raven, their moves make it very easy to recognize they are martial artists first, with this new character you can't tell because he barely uses his body and his animations are very generic and untekken-like.

I disagree, watch his actual animations and you'll see many great animations such as his CQC CAR Gun style, and Iaido sword drawing. He animates very well
I sort of disagree that he's not recognizable, even though it's not martial arts either. it's pretty obvious he's inspired by more modern western action films; it's easy to recognize a lot of poses from films such as John Wick (the way he checks his gun or his firing style) or Kill Bill (the way he stands with the katana).

I find it interesting that you hate characters like this (not base on a Martial Arts style) when in T7, majority of the characters were created based on a fighting style. T8 should be no different. Characters like this are the clear minority.
