I think Konami's best bet is to double down on the virtual card games, but allow options to make them more casual friendly and leave ultra competitive tournament play to those who want to play at that level. Not competing for real monetary prizes, cause at that point, 70% of the players are just playing the exact same cards based on the top performing deck list they look up online and IF they can afford it, and hten it boils down to "If you draw a better hand and who wins the coin toss", not if you actually are good at strategizing and timing moves to your opponent's plays. It's like what happened with Pokemon all the way to Gen 7, where thanks to horrendous powercreep and horrible balance, you effectively saw the exact same 10 pokemon in Gen 5, 6, 6.5, AND 7 before Gamefreak FINALLY said "enough is enough" and had to start removing things from the game and cutting the dex size so they could review properly what was allowing n00b players to just get the 6 best pokemon and bully all 800 OTHER pokemon in the dex without fail. They got mad at Dexit, but lets be honest... Dexit was invented by the hardcore playerbase who would spend months farming a perfect Garchomp (shiny too just to flex) where most of the world didn't have time for that. All I had to see was 2 things: 1. A shiny hunter sitting in a dark room wtih 5 DSes shiny hunting some rare pokemon (pathetic), and 2. Friend Safari literally having people manipulate and SELL their friend codes just to get certain pokemon (particularly Ditto). NEVER let the fanbase get economic control...especially over something as personal as FRIEND CODES!

And more decks that encourage both players to make decisions all the time instead of one player not being allowed to play the game (I'm a proud tearlament defender and zombies enjoyer).

All of the cult stuff and Aki's VA being pregnant was when the show was already written and animated anyway, not like, it happened on the spot or something. They simply didn't know how to keep up with their characters.
As someone who doesn't play but watches your videos, all the issues with "when" effects makes me want a 'Top 10 "When" cards that would be competitive if changed to "If" effects' video.
I remember their purpose in the anime was to show that Carly was corrupted (she used Fortune Fairies before, which were normal monsters according to the Tag Force games) and fodder to summon Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu. I can see why they were so bad before Duel Links added them in with their late synchro support.
The worst thing is that in the Anime, Light not only couldn't miss timing, but was also a leave the field trigger. Carly tributed her to summon Dark and Earth. They nerfed her hard.

In the anime, Lady Light was actually a leave the field trigger that even worked on tribute, which would've made her infinitely better in the TCG. Water also drew cards for every Fortune Lady on the field. They were probably worried about creating another Destiny Hero type draw engine, which is why they gave them those restrictions. Those two were the only ones they nerfed.

I'd rather make TWO boss monsters out of the Fortune-Resonator combo: A "Fortune Lady Red" and a "Fortune Red Dragon Archfiend", especially since the Resonators got a new tuner based on the Fortune Ladies.
It shouldnt always be treated as a Red Dragon Archfiend card and should rather have the same effect that one other RDA Synchro has. "This cards name becomes Red Dragon Archfiend while in the GY or face-up on the field". That way it makes Red Zone life on its own, something i really wish Red Hot Dragon Archfiend Abyss could do.
I love Fortune Ladies. It's one of my oldest decks called 007 Carly's Fortune. I number and name my decks. the early versions of my deck had The Calculator and Trageodia. Though I still use 3 Trags now
I once tried to run this with Wall of Revealing Light and Life Absorbing Machine for a stall strat to gain levels until. They were high enough to swing over most monsters
Duellogs can we talk about how the fleur archetype needs more support so can you do that for the failed archetypes but in all seriousness the fleur archetype needs more support in everything
I love Fortune Lady, but it’s sad to admit that my best use of them was during Master Duel’s Synchro Festival as a mini-engine to spit out Fortune Lady Fire and Water from the deck alongside the Inari Fire and Cataclysmic Fire support for a burn victory against a Clear Wing deck due to BARELY skirting around each boss monster’s protection by technicalities on level, targeting, etc. …And then I won on the second half of Self-Destruct Ant. They rage quit before it resolved.
I wouldn't call fortune ladies failed personally. When they came out they were strong, anti meta and well supported. Even today they have alot of potential as an anti meta deck because future visions is an extremely strong field spell. The problem with fortune ladies is they were forgotten over time. No support for years will make any deck bad, just look at infernities.
True i wasn't in ygo at this time but❤ I've seen a whole bunch of exodia de-synchro combos. I personally really fourtune lady every (synchro) as a relatively generic level 7 sychro to go into.
Ever then exodia de synchro combos were mediocre. The deck only trully saw play in duel links, and it was mostly because of the power level it faced when it released and the skill ds carly had.
As an Infernity player I assure you that the existence of Link Summoning gives the deck way more gas than it has any right to have. If you're extra sneaky you can even use Archfiend to pull out Infernity Suppression to shoot Nib activation out of your opponent's hand and burn them for 1100. It's not better than Snake by a long shot, Infernities are still mostly a negate-building deck at the end of the day, but it's not like it's unplayable when your worst option is to go into Raider's Knight/Arc Rebellion Xyz.
oh hey i was a Fortune Lady player among all these other culture enjoyers. i kept trying to use them all the way til Zoodiac's got neutered. tried mixing them with other archetypes that were also lesser known to some degree of success. one that comes to mind is when i mixed them with the Charmer/Familiar-Possessed when they got their out of nowhere support. then further mixing them with that, and Zoodiacs once they came out. it was a Frankenstein of a deck, but it functioned. kinda
Always loved the Fortune Ladys archetype. So even when Konami stopped I kept adding to it. In all in the realm of Custom Cards I added 4 main deck monsters (2 are pendulums), 4 extra deck, and 6 backrow. The backrow is focused around more banishing or accelerating their lvl modulating. Excluding the Pendulums the new main deck speed up their synchro summoning, while the extra deck focuses on battle and backrow control.
As 1 of those 6 fortune lady players I Agree 100% with everything. Still use them to this day IRL. During my secondary school days, i used to splash water,light and dark plus fortune future into destiny heroes and elemental heroes to use them to summon absolute zero via fusion gate. Fun times they were,ash wasn't a thing and I used to enjoy having a very fat hand. Greed is good. I even remember that while upperdeck was running the game, magical dimension was ruled as being able to trigger light's effect provided you tributed it but not destroy a card. Fortune lady like gusto and dragunity just came out at a time where card design was in its infancy. Hoping someday we get a structure deck retrain of this archetype.

I like how slowly one by one every single one of my master duel decks I have made are getting covered. Which is brilliant because I don't like playing actually good decks and just pick ones that look nice or have interesting concepts.
7:45 when he says weak to ANY type of disruption, he means literally even just having a single chainable quick effect, like chaining jar of greed (a trap that just draws a card) to light being banished, which will force it to miss timing and fizzle and then since it still got banished the fortune lady player is left with nothing.
As much as i dislike you bullying the Ladies, i will agree that they're really REALLY slow by today's standarts and lack that extra bit of direction most other archetypes have. Losing the poll for a new support card (twice) was also not a very fun time.
one of my favorite casuals decks. would love to see support in the future, mainly a new boss monster with a quick effect banish or similar right now i sometimes play it in Master Duel alongside silent magician and some spellbook cards when im in lower ranks. my favorite play is summoning quintent magician
Fortune Ladies are really annoying because a of stuff about them is good, several good monster and spell/trap effects are good but there’s no good way to capitalize on it. Wasted potential.
As a DL Fortune Ladies player, I'd like to say that the floodgate style wasn't the only time when they had success. 1-2 years ago, when they released some new support for RDA, Black Rose and Synchron (iirc) they also became rogue and could go against those decks pretty well. The deck was still bricky ofc, but for a "casual player level", you could hit DLV 20 easily with them. After the meta shifted from those synchros they died to never be seen again, but I'll be forever happy to see them have success that time 🥺
Carly is one of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! characters of all time and I have a soft spot for her snd her Deck, but Fortune Ladies were designed terribly from the start due to them being an anime theme. At least they were somewhat viable in DL a few years ago and Vision Resonator exists because of them.

I really love the concept of FL's the main problem is just that they want to stay on the field for a long time in a game where zero cost removal was rampant, and they were understated to boot. Also didn't help that they really suffered from their monsters not having a clear focus to get wins. Some of them were BUSTED in a vacuum.
The “when” clause just needs to be gone at this point. Reprint all cards with “when” effect to say “if” because it genuinely hurts performance. I have been screwed out of multiple plays because of “when” effects especially with majespecter
Konami needs to fix a TON of broken cards. Maybe instead of BANNING Jet synchron, errata it so it only works with it's own archetype. Maybe instead of banning Predaplant Verde conda, errata it to ONLY work with itself. They were necessary for the archetype they supported to function, but then broken decks like Spyrals, Zoodiacts etc who didn't NEED the support lead to crazy OTK and FTK combos with them that got the cards banned while those archetypes continued to flourish. Talk about getting rid of poor people by forcing the cost of food to be $500, because rich people would buy up all the meal tickets the poor needed to eat and basically get tons of free food AND profit personally on selling the meal tickets that were MEANT for the low income. That's what it feels like Konami has done....

Had a concept for a few cards while at work. Just popped into my head one day. Neo Gate Guardian. An XYZ monster that can only be summoned by overlaying Suijin, Kazejin and Sanga of Thunder. But. The overlay units determine what Gate Guardian can do. Release Suijin. Gate Guardian gains attack and defense points equal to Suijin. Kazejin: until the next opponents turn it cannot be destroyed in battle or by card effects. And sanga. All cards on the field are destroyed and both players take damage equal to the number of cards times 300. And theres a fourth option in the form of a Spell Card. By activating Guardians Last Stand you can release all three overlay units at once and BOTH players banish not only their entire hand but also the top ten cards from their decks.
They are not completely worthless. Still think past, dark, and water are useful and every being an extra deck monster that comes back is still neat and you can banish dark or past with allure and set up fortunes future. So still out of all them dark, past, and water are still useful. And with light and dark you have chaos fuel. So while pure build isn't good we can still run a small engine of just four main deck and one extra deck and still make them kinda work.
@@Shadowx157 sounds about right. Only light, water and past being used next to the their few support that's good and splashed into a deck that can banish to trigger light since I believe she activates when banished anywhere.

Past and light combined makes them a good little engine till vanishing from the extra deck becomes more common then every and fortunes future are the go to and everything else gets cut for consistency.
FL just needs more modern support which they will never get since Konami caters to the archetypes that are more popular because money. I really love the FL archetype and it sucks that it got the short end of the stick just like the RE archetype which I absolutely love as well.
You'd think a full female archetype would catch the eyes of men, making releasing support for them a good money maker, but nope, almost "optimal" players of this card game only care about if a deck is overpowered. Like Snake-eyes.
Please do their "pure form" aka. please do the failed mechanics of Fortune Fairies.. I think it would be more interesting as their effects can be powerful if their effects are good.
They get only one continuous spell, one normal and one quick play spell, and 6 monsters, these girls have swarm power but have no end goal and it makes me sad because i used to sweep with them in Duel Links but the meta was harsh on them.

Imagining a time line where ALL "whens" were erratad to "Ifs" the game would be a LOT better. Especailly given it's very clear that the "When" clause was never meant to be a balance case like many MODERN cards need, but rather just the word they used assuming it wouldn't mean anything. The fact that the official rules never say anything about "miss timing" to the point that many of the players and judges have to explain what it means goes to show that a lot of cards NEED that for the health of the game. Plus none of the modern cards have "when" clauses, even though again... it would've been a GREAT way to lower the power level of some modern decks that destroy the game by simply being played if the player actually HAD to care about when they use a card's effect instead of just going through their entire deck for free cause they went first and getting four omni negates pretty much guaranteed because the opponent didn't draw Ash or Effect Veilor.... utter sh8t the situation the TCG is in.
@@MarioMastaryou’re argument of recent cards don’t have when’s is straight up false. Lady labrynth has a when clause specifically added so the opponent can counteract it. Also using ash blossom and all the other ghost girls as an example. If she’s had an if effect, that would mean that you wouldn’t be able to chain block anymore. And finally people like you have been complaining that the TCG is shit for years now, even though there are so many cards released specifically made for going second. If you can’t draw into these cards, because you don’t have space or because (most likely) you don’t even play them, than that is genuinely just skill issue on your part. Stop playing master duel and actually play the game before you go around with dogshit takes like that.

I loved Fortune Ladies when they came out and actually started gathering cards to make a deck for them. I came to the same conclusion you did, however: none of them worked well together and there wasn't a win-con. Such a shame.
An interesting video could be: What cards/archetypes would be much better or even see legitimate play if the When/If situation was fixed to make them not Miss Timing?
TBF, they can do some crazy Spellcaster/Synchro combos when they get going because of all the draw power but they fold to a handtrap like Droll, in doing so.

I like DuelLogs videos, but my God does the reason most decks are considered failures make me sick. "This deck only plays on its turn, doesnt summon 7 unstoppable boss monsters, and your opponent still gets to play when you finish after going first. This wont cut it these days." And I get it. I play Psy Frame and Super Quant so I get it. But still. What happened to the game I love?
I’ll just keep hoping they get support someday. They’re just my favourite, with a very cool idea of manipulating levels. They just need more combo enablers, more bosses, and more 1 card combos. But if they get a really good support, they might be too OP though, bot having once per turns makes them super OP with such draw power, you could draw up to 10 cards with them
I am one of the 6 Fortune Lady players and I think if anybody is interested in the deck, Ultimaya Tzolkin turbo with the Bystial package is the best way to play the deck. It gets slapped hard by disruption if you don’t have the counter in your hand but you can absolutely cook with the deck and reach high ranks if the game plan goes smoothly, so it’s not as horrendous you may think after watching this video. Let’s pray they get more support in the future! (Also, not mentioned Fortune Lady Every non targets banish which is worth noting)

Fortune Ladies are my second favorite archetype (Spellbook/Prophecy is my favorite). It was heartbreaking seeing the extra Lady support in 2019 and knowing it wouldn't help the deck in the long run. 😔
Blame the horrendous powercreep and pay to win mentality of the TCG.... People just arent' willing to experiment and try new things cause the shiny new deck is the most broken thing and toxic players spend THOUSANDS just to destroy people in IRL tournaments. I miss when the game used to be "fun", but fortuantely Duel links helps with that. Not as sure about Master Duel though.... I hear there's some shenanigans there, but I think they do allow restrictive formats.

As someone who doesn't play but watches your videos, all the issues with "when" effects makes me want a 'Top 10 "When" cards that would be competitive if changed to "If" effects' video.
I remember their purpose in the anime was to show that Carly was corrupted (she used Fortune Fairies before, which were normal monsters according to the Tag Force games) and fodder to summon Earthbound Immortal Aslla Piscu. I can see why they were so bad before Duel Links added them in with their late synchro support.
Missing the timing is still the most frustrating mechanic in this game.

The worst thing is that in the Anime, Light not only couldn't miss timing, but was also a leave the field trigger. Carly tributed her to summon Dark and Earth. They nerfed her hard.

In the anime, Lady Light was actually a leave the field trigger that even worked on tribute, which would've made her infinitely better in the TCG. Water also drew cards for every Fortune Lady on the field. They were probably worried about creating another Destiny Hero type draw engine, which is why they gave them those restrictions. Those two were the only ones they nerfed.

I'd rather make TWO boss monsters out of the Fortune-Resonator combo:
A "Fortune Lady Red" and a "Fortune Red Dragon Archfiend", especially since the Resonators got a new tuner based on the Fortune Ladies.
It shouldnt always be treated as a Red Dragon Archfiend card and should rather have the same effect that one other RDA Synchro has. "This cards name becomes Red Dragon Archfiend while in the GY or face-up on the field". That way it makes Red Zone life on its own, something i really wish Red Hot Dragon Archfiend Abyss could do.

I like Fortune Ladies but I hope it gets some new support or something to help improve the archetype.
Fortune Ladies were meta threat in the early years of Duel Links, so i dont think they are failure at least on speed duel format
I once tried to run this with Wall of Revealing Light and Life Absorbing Machine for a stall strat to gain levels until. They were high enough to swing over most monsters
Duellogs can we talk about how the fleur archetype needs more support so can you do that for the failed archetypes but in all seriousness the fleur archetype needs more support in everything
I love Fortune Lady, but it’s sad to admit that my best use of them was during Master Duel’s Synchro Festival as a mini-engine to spit out Fortune Lady Fire and Water from the deck alongside the Inari Fire and Cataclysmic Fire support for a burn victory against a Clear Wing deck due to BARELY skirting around each boss monster’s protection by technicalities on level, targeting, etc.
…And then I won on the second half of Self-Destruct Ant. They rage quit before it resolved.

I wouldn't call fortune ladies failed personally. When they came out they were strong, anti meta and well supported. Even today they have alot of potential as an anti meta deck because future visions is an extremely strong field spell. The problem with fortune ladies is they were forgotten over time. No support for years will make any deck bad, just look at infernities.
True i wasn't in ygo at this time but❤ I've seen a whole bunch of exodia de-synchro combos. I personally really fourtune lady every (synchro) as a relatively generic level 7 sychro to go into.
Ever then exodia de synchro combos were mediocre.
The deck only trully saw play in duel links, and it was mostly because of the power level it faced when it released and the skill ds carly had.
As an Infernity player I assure you that the existence of Link Summoning gives the deck way more gas than it has any right to have. If you're extra sneaky you can even use Archfiend to pull out Infernity Suppression to shoot Nib activation out of your opponent's hand and burn them for 1100. It's not better than Snake by a long shot, Infernities are still mostly a negate-building deck at the end of the day, but it's not like it's unplayable when your worst option is to go into Raider's Knight/Arc Rebellion Xyz.

oh hey i was a Fortune Lady player among all these other culture enjoyers. i kept trying to use them all the way til Zoodiac's got neutered. tried mixing them with other archetypes that were also lesser known to some degree of success. one that comes to mind is when i mixed them with the Charmer/Familiar-Possessed when they got their out of nowhere support. then further mixing them with that, and Zoodiacs once they came out. it was a Frankenstein of a deck, but it functioned. kinda
Always loved the Fortune Ladys archetype. So even when Konami stopped I kept adding to it. In all in the realm of Custom Cards I added 4 main deck monsters (2 are pendulums), 4 extra deck, and 6 backrow. The backrow is focused around more banishing or accelerating their lvl modulating. Excluding the Pendulums the new main deck speed up their synchro summoning, while the extra deck focuses on battle and backrow control.

As 1 of those 6 fortune lady players I Agree 100% with everything. Still use them to this day IRL. During my secondary school days, i used to splash water,light and dark plus fortune future into destiny heroes and elemental heroes to use them to summon absolute zero via fusion gate. Fun times they were,ash wasn't a thing and I used to enjoy having a very fat hand. Greed is good. I even remember that while upperdeck was running the game, magical dimension was ruled as being able to trigger light's effect provided you tributed it but not destroy a card. Fortune lady like gusto and dragunity just came out at a time where card design was in its infancy. Hoping someday we get a structure deck retrain of this archetype.

I like how slowly one by one every single one of my master duel decks I have made are getting covered. Which is brilliant because I don't like playing actually good decks and just pick ones that look nice or have interesting concepts.
This was my go to deck when I started playing with my friends before links appeared
7:45 when he says weak to ANY type of disruption, he means literally even just having a single chainable quick effect, like chaining jar of greed (a trap that just draws a card) to light being banished, which will force it to miss timing and fizzle and then since it still got banished the fortune lady player is left with nothing.

As much as i dislike you bullying the Ladies, i will agree that they're really REALLY slow by today's standarts and lack that extra bit of direction most other archetypes have. Losing the poll for a new support card (twice) was also not a very fun time.
Remember, Fortune Lady's didn't succeed despite having two non-once per turn draw 2 cards
one of my favorite casuals decks. would love to see support in the future, mainly a new boss monster with a quick effect banish or similar
right now i sometimes play it in Master Duel alongside silent magician and some spellbook cards when im in lower ranks. my favorite play is summoning quintent magician
Fortune Ladies are really annoying because a of stuff about them is good, several good monster and spell/trap effects are good but there’s no good way to capitalize on it. Wasted potential.

As a DL Fortune Ladies player, I'd like to say that the floodgate style wasn't the only time when they had success. 1-2 years ago, when they released some new support for RDA, Black Rose and Synchron (iirc) they also became rogue and could go against those decks pretty well. The deck was still bricky ofc, but for a "casual player level", you could hit DLV 20 easily with them. After the meta shifted from those synchros they died to never be seen again, but I'll be forever happy to see them have success that time 🥺
I played a deck in duel links that had a wind and earth sitting in there randomly. The ability to burn and backrow boom was always fun.
Carly is one of my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! characters of all time and I have a soft spot for her snd her Deck, but Fortune Ladies were designed terribly from the start due to them being an anime theme. At least they were somewhat viable in DL a few years ago and Vision Resonator exists because of them.

Just do what you find fun, these decks are bad for Competitive play, that means people avoid them playing in the tournaments.

This deck is very rogue tier and can auto-win sometimes. To compete with today's meta I used the very best things of Fortune Lady's. This deck wants to banish and draw. D.Shifter/ Veiler can be Banished with Lady Past, It brings out Boss monsters like Colossus/ Archnemesis/ Syncro Plays, and Bystial Mon. are used to Syncro/ Beatstick
As one of the 6 Fortune Lady players, I will still play this archetype no matter how many times I lose!
I really love the concept of FL's the main problem is just that they want to stay on the field for a long time in a game where zero cost removal was rampant, and they were understated to boot. Also didn't help that they really suffered from their monsters not having a clear focus to get wins. Some of them were BUSTED in a vacuum.
Tbh I love fortune ladies so much. They would be my deck of choice if I still played casually.
I used this deck in the 5ds tag force game and found it really fun to use. Shame they can't compete in a real pvp game, the card designs are nice imo

The “when” clause just needs to be gone at this point. Reprint all cards with “when” effect to say “if” because it genuinely hurts performance. I have been screwed out of multiple plays because of “when” effects especially with majespecter
I agree but I will say it's only a detriment for floating effects. "When this card is Summoned" almost never misses timing.
Konami needs to fix a TON of broken cards. Maybe instead of BANNING Jet synchron, errata it so it only works with it's own archetype. Maybe instead of banning Predaplant Verde conda, errata it to ONLY work with itself. They were necessary for the archetype they supported to function, but then broken decks like Spyrals, Zoodiacts etc who didn't NEED the support lead to crazy OTK and FTK combos with them that got the cards banned while those archetypes continued to flourish. Talk about getting rid of poor people by forcing the cost of food to be $500, because rich people would buy up all the meal tickets the poor needed to eat and basically get tons of free food AND profit personally on selling the meal tickets that were MEANT for the low income. That's what it feels like Konami has done....

Had a concept for a few cards while at work. Just popped into my head one day.
Neo Gate Guardian. An XYZ monster that can only be summoned by overlaying Suijin, Kazejin and Sanga of Thunder. But. The overlay units determine what Gate Guardian can do.
Release Suijin. Gate Guardian gains attack and defense points equal to Suijin.
Kazejin: until the next opponents turn it cannot be destroyed in battle or by card effects.
And sanga. All cards on the field are destroyed and both players take damage equal to the number of cards times 300.
And theres a fourth option in the form of a Spell Card. By activating Guardians Last Stand you can release all three overlay units at once and BOTH players banish not only their entire hand but also the top ten cards from their decks.
They are not completely worthless. Still think past, dark, and water are useful and every being an extra deck monster that comes back is still neat and you can banish dark or past with allure and set up fortunes future. So still out of all them dark, past, and water are still useful. And with light and dark you have chaos fuel. So while pure build isn't good we can still run a small engine of just four main deck and one extra deck and still make them kinda work.

FL just needs more modern support which they will never get since Konami caters to the archetypes that are more popular because money. I really love the FL archetype and it sucks that it got the short end of the stick just like the RE archetype which I absolutely love as well.
You'd think a full female archetype would catch the eyes of men, making releasing support for them a good money maker, but nope, almost "optimal" players of this card game only care about if a deck is overpowered. Like Snake-eyes.

Please do their "pure form" aka. please do the failed mechanics of Fortune Fairies.. I think it would be more interesting as their effects can be powerful if their effects are good.
They get only one continuous spell, one normal and one quick play spell, and 6 monsters, these girls have swarm power but have no end goal and it makes me sad because i used to sweep with them in Duel Links but the meta was harsh on them.
Wasn't Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate also Fortune fairy support? It can out in the same set and its effect clearly meant to be used with fortune fairies

Imagining a time line where ALL "whens" were erratad to "Ifs" the game would be a LOT better. Especailly given it's very clear that the "When" clause was never meant to be a balance case like many MODERN cards need, but rather just the word they used assuming it wouldn't mean anything. The fact that the official rules never say anything about "miss timing" to the point that many of the players and judges have to explain what it means goes to show that a lot of cards NEED that for the health of the game. Plus none of the modern cards have "when" clauses, even though again... it would've been a GREAT way to lower the power level of some modern decks that destroy the game by simply being played if the player actually HAD to care about when they use a card's effect instead of just going through their entire deck for free cause they went first and getting four omni negates pretty much guaranteed because the opponent didn't draw Ash or Effect Veilor.... utter sh8t the situation the TCG is in.
@@MarioMastaryou’re argument of recent cards don’t have when’s is straight up false. Lady labrynth has a when clause specifically added so the opponent can counteract it.
Also using ash blossom and all the other ghost girls as an example. If she’s had an if effect, that would mean that you wouldn’t be able to chain block anymore.
And finally people like you have been complaining that the TCG is shit for years now, even though there are so many cards released specifically made for going second. If you can’t draw into these cards, because you don’t have space or because (most likely) you don’t even play them, than that is genuinely just skill issue on your part.
Stop playing master duel and actually play the game before you go around with dogshit takes like that.

I loved Fortune Ladies when they came out and actually started gathering cards to make a deck for them. I came to the same conclusion you did, however: none of them worked well together and there wasn't a win-con. Such a shame.
Poor zenmaity; OCG has no issues with it, but TCG hates windups.
An interesting video could be: What cards/archetypes would be much better or even see legitimate play if the When/If situation was fixed to make them not Miss Timing?

TBF, they can do some crazy Spellcaster/Synchro combos when they get going because of all the draw power but they fold to a handtrap like Droll, in doing so.

I like DuelLogs videos, but my God does the reason most decks are considered failures make me sick.

I’ll just keep hoping they get support someday. They’re just my favourite, with a very cool idea of manipulating levels. They just need more combo enablers, more bosses, and more 1 card combos. But if they get a really good support, they might be too OP though, bot having once per turns makes them super OP with such draw power, you could draw up to 10 cards with them
I am one of the 6 Fortune Lady players and I think if anybody is interested in the deck, Ultimaya Tzolkin turbo with the Bystial package is the best way to play the deck. It gets slapped hard by disruption if you don’t have the counter in your hand but you can absolutely cook with the deck and reach high ranks if the game plan goes smoothly, so it’s not as horrendous you may think after watching this video. Let’s pray they get more support in the future! (Also, not mentioned Fortune Lady Every non targets banish which is worth noting)

my favorite archetype whose rules I still get wrong.
Fortune Ladies are my second favorite archetype (Spellbook/Prophecy is my favorite). It was heartbreaking seeing the extra Lady support in 2019 and knowing it wouldn't help the deck in the long run. 😔
Blame the horrendous powercreep and pay to win mentality of the TCG.... People just arent' willing to experiment and try new things cause the shiny new deck is the most broken thing and toxic players spend THOUSANDS just to destroy people in IRL tournaments. I miss when the game used to be "fun", but fortuantely Duel links helps with that. Not as sure about Master Duel though.... I hear there's some shenanigans there, but I think they do allow restrictive formats.
