    Yet again I've learnt more, excellent tutorial Chris, I have some WiFi boards winding their way to me as I type, already got lots of ws2811's, 2812's, 2812b's and even the older 1812's (their 3 LEDs per pixel, and sometime soon I'll be investing in the sk6812's RGBWW and possibly the new SK9822/APA102C we talked about, it's a large slow going project but it is progressing, and as promised their will be a video link when all done.
    I hope your all well 👍🏻

    Hello Chris; Question......!
    Can I set up 2 ESP32s or ESP8266s with Mics separately. So each one can be operated independently resulting in two different responses to music. One unit could be running smooth and slow and the other responding more aggressively. Your tutorials are right on! thanks for sharing your skills. I'm looking to set up our Church Youth room with this kind of setup and looking for cool results. Thanks again

    If you skip the pins, you can solder the wires directly into the pin holes, far less effort and tidier. You can also get ESPs with the pins uninstalled, so this can be done on both ends.

  • @moeburn
    @moeburn 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have never seen someone solder to headers before. That looks sooooo hard lol, you can order ESP32 boards without the headers preinstalled. They are much cheaper because the headers must be soldered manually by a human. Then you can solder your wires through holes, instead of to metal posts. I can't believe you made that work that's crazy.

    hi my learned friend.
    I pulled another all nighter on this problem. 3rd night.
    I have absolutely No clue what I'm doing. I remember basic programming back in the long lost day...
    But after subscribing to what I call "bumble bee logic" I actually managed to compile a wled.bin wuhooo..
    Now this may not be an achievement to the majority as I don't talk code fortran c++ or anything like that. I'm still on English 101.
    Anyways.. Truley if I can do it.. Many of those who think they can't.. really can.. (that makes sense right..?)
    Now flashed my resulting hard work lol onto 4 esp32s..with wled 14 with sound reaction. That's all I wanted and that what I got.
    And yes in the end it was relatively easy.

    Awesome video! I recently found your channel and it's been my main source of info and inspiration for my first custom led project. Question. Lets say I have 4 individually controlled strips. Would I need to have microphones on each controller? Or could I have a mic on one strip and then use the "Sync" feature to basically replicate the sound reactive effects to the non sound reactive strips?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks so much for watching and great question! So if your going to have 4 controllers you would need to have a microphone on each one. The sync feature would basically be telling each controller what animation to initiate but without the mics, they would then have display any animation. However, in theory if you wanted them all to do the same things you could split the data line coming from 1 controller 4 ways and then all 4 of them would do the same thing as you would only have the 1 controller if that makes sense. Thanks again for watching!

    • @sethjohnson5171
      @sethjohnson5171 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChrisMaherDIY That makes complete sense! I really appreciate the info. My project is going to consist of 1500 LEDs all in diffuser channels throughout a room (25m @ 60 LEDs/m). For ideal performance and frame rate on the esp32 its recommended to run 512 LEDs or less, per pin. Could I output the data on multiple pins on the esp32 using WLED that way I don't have 1500 LEDs on one pin? Or would I'd be looking at a slightly different controller?

    Hi Chris, Thanks for the great tutorial. One quick question: if I have two set of LED strips, is it okay to connect them with a Wago connector that has 1 more slot for the ground, data, and voltage cables? Or would that short the system?

    • @ChrisMaherDIY
      @ChrisMaherDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I'm understanding correctly, you can for sure do that. For example, if you have a wago connector that has 4 slots, 1 slot can be for the main voltage line, another slot can be for the voltage going to the esp device, another slot can be the voltage for the 1st led and the last opening can be for the voltage going to the second led strip. You can do the same thing for the ground and data lines. What you cant do is use a wago connector with lets say 4 slots and in 1 slot you put a ground, 1 slot you put a voltage and another a data. That will not end well since you are crossing all the connections. Hope that helps!

      @@ChrisMaherDIY Appreciate your reply…ive done all of this in my garage! I will try doing this closer to the router…thank you for taking the time…and hey…id love to make a personalized scrolling stock ticker for my garage…you think you could show some matrx programming?
      I also would love to know if the code for the different effects on wled is available in raw so i could copy it and load it into an aurduino sketch atmega chip? then i wouldn’t need wifi..can this work?

    Hey can the lights react to the music you play just from off your smartphone microphone? Or does it have to have a microphone built onto the board

      For this setup, you would need to install the microphone onto the board like I did in this video for it to react to any type of sound. Govee for instance has a microphone already built into their controller which is what they use to capture sound. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

    Loved the simplicity of this tutorial. Controls are working like a charm from the app, however I'm struggling to get in sync with sensor input (lights are not reactive to sensor). Have tried different sensors but still not picking up ambient sound.
    Any suggestions. Thanks

      I'm having the same problem. I used all the same hardware as shown in the video, but the sound reactive part is not working. Changed the input to 35, and everything but there is no signal.

      Thanks so much for watching! Are the led lights working if your just trying to control them normally without the sound react effects/animations? The only thing I remember is that I believe the mic's I ordered came in a 2 pack and only 1 of them worked for some reason. Not sure if that might be the issue but at least for troubleshooting I try to have 2 of everything on hand to hopefully narrow things down a bit for what might be the issue! Also, maybe check out this video to see if there is anything different that he might be doing that would work in your setup. His videos are awesome and he is a lot smarter than I am! th-cam.com/video/q1ghNUND6gk/w-d-xo.html

      Thanks for replying @Chris. Yes the LEDs are working and being controlled from the app. It's just the sound reactive part not working. To test the sound sensor I ran it in isolation and checked the analog input in the serial monitor and the readings over there are reactive to sound.

      @@rishitak4208 Hey man. Did you figure it out? Is it working for you now? If yes please tell me what you did.

      @@GameResidence So I swapped 2-3 variants of the sensor. One of them worked with WLED but not 100% reactive. I guess some fine-tuning required on the sensor potentiometer. Haven't tried it back as I was traveling for a while. Will get back to you once I have it working.
      PS: The same sensor didn't work in isolation when observed over a serial monitor with the same potentiometer setting. Not sure what the sorcery is :(

    Somehow when I have my mic hooked up to pin d35 my leds don’t react to sound but it reacts to me putting my hand closer to the esp32.. ?? Anyone heard of this before??

    Would anyone know how to make the lights react to a specific sound? Like when it hears police sirens for gta5 it flashes blue and red. I think that would be really cool for the boys room.
