I’d be tempted to shift the 6480 out the gate asap while she’s running ok. 6mths down the road you could be spending on it again.
Not so bad phil, chap down the road from me with a deere of the same era just had new pump, jus shy of 4k 😮
I have a 6470 here that was doing similar, she'd cut out when you went over a bump then fire back up and run fine again. It ended up being a slightly loose connection in a solenoid up by the air filter. I have a loader on to and the brackets certainly make things difficult

I said when that issued occurred when you done the ploughing video it was the pump every person with them black chassis perkins massey had that problem. That wasn't bad money to fix either as before you could fix them the only option was to buy one and it was a lot more than that to get one.
that 6480 is a noble chariot. there are breakdowns with all machines, a great video, thank you all.

Its such a shame the early 64s had issues, because they're a bonny lookikg tractor, i always liked the face of them, and this os coming from a valtra man, and we're trained to hate masseys 😂😂😂

a tip bad batteries and low run down batteries can wreck starters and ecu,s with the low ampage and low volts ,,,, allways best to stop and charge the batteries rather than churn on ,,, as that is when the damage gets done ,, hey its modern tech unfortunatly keep up the good work folks ,,
And also an alternator over charging can damage them aswell.
I ve had the cam bus cables between ecu and and pump been rubbed and mosture and shorting , pull the black coering off the wiring and check. Love the 90 in back ground. Why didnt you guys life the quicky loader off
them vpm pumps are the worse pump ever made. we replaced one and was £1900 but the hole pump was done not just the new ecu it had full rebuild & new stop in the bottom of the pump. low battery's & dirty fuel kills them as

I hope it lasts for more hours than the one I got done until it started to show 1077 again. Check the top of the pre filter housing under the plastic top found alot if shit in it which didn't make it to the filter!
There’s a couple of those 6480 Masseys around here and they have both given injector pump trouble
Fair play to you for sticking at the 6480, most people would have sent it off down the road, or set it on fire.

Sounds like it needs an engine wiring loom. I had a 7480 similar age, new loom was a few hundred quid, never any more bother

I have IMT 560 that had issues with injectors. When I was reving the engine, it sounded like angry Donald Duck. 😅

Have you decided what's gonna replace it? Is it gonna be a sloped nose Massey or a 4 cylinder high horsepower one?
If you had the pcb for the pump and took some time you could make one up and ship it from Hong Kong, 5 identical 2 layer boards for around 40 euro including delivery
The EDC controller on most bosch VP pumps normally suffers the same or similar failure, common to most tier 3 tractors. The fault as Phil had on this will relate to a failed speed sensor fault internal in the pump edc controller. It's a common enough failure with a simple repair. We tend to see about 5/6 of this type of error per year.
You just have to love all these computerized tractors. How in the hell does a farmer rely on these machines. Better look around for a good old 1080

The newer the machine the more problems with electronics.
Get a Massey Ferguson 6615/16 or 6715/16/18. Because they got bigger 4.9L engine and you can get dyna 6 50k on them. And they pull 10 times better then the 4.4L in 6613/14. They wont let you down.😀

That 6480 has many years of work left in her . She’s only 20 years old . They have the 6499 and 7618 for big jobs
Fuel filter housing choked. That’s what I had. New fuel pump injectors. Lift pump

That tractor would make a great umbilical tractor that loader would be handy with the front reeler coming against awkward gates you've the money spent on it now you've nothing to loose trying it

If I was you I'd send it into the nearest massey dealer and trade it in against a 5s get the bloody heap out of your hair
Ah that would be the right thing to do.. they only think hardship unfortunately
