"Blood on Satan's Claw" (AKA "Satan's Skin") is quite possibly the first horror movie I ever saw when I was a very young child in the 70s. It's one of those where I didn't even know what it was for years and finally rediscovered it as a young adult and was thrilled to reconnect with it. I love that one.

Carrie is unsettling because the horror isn't really found in the telekinesis; it's found in the small and large attacks on Carrie's dignity. The principal who doesn't remember her name; the school shower; the mother who doesn't understand; the suspicious romance; the pig's blood and public humiliation. Just about everyone is (or can seem to be) slighting her and making her seem lesser. Her dignity gets pushed into a smaller and smaller box until...well, you know.

(Other undiagnosed Autistic girls had dinosaurs ancient Egypt in the 1980s, I had vampire folklore.) I am really enjoying your channel - I love that you included Blood on Satan's Claw on your list! It is one of those movies from my childhood that, even today, still gives me chills. I was really surprised to see that you rated The Exorcist so low on your list. I really liked that you gave the reasons why you rated it so low when so many people place it in their top 5 and number one choices (myself included), but it really did surprise me. Regardless of how it may be classified (which genre of horror it falls under), it is truly a masterpiece of cinema. I don't think there is one thing I would change about any aspect of it. I was more surprised at your ranking when I saw how high you ranked The Omen. Keep up the great videos - looking forward to seeing new content. By the way - is Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things mentioned in any of your videos? Very interesting haunted house movie. Definitely worth watching if you've never seen it. I'm also a big fan of some of the TV movies from the period, like "Moon of the Wolf" and "A Cold Night's Death." Maybe do a "Best horror TV movies" list sometime...most of them were made on such a low budget that they don't stack up very well next to theatrical releases, but if you said "All right, we're only going to look at the ones that had the same set of constraints in terms of budget, network requirements, time and pacing limitations, etc," which ones would be the best? I think a lot of them qualify as good, cheap, cheesy fun.

I agree that The Omen > The Exorcist. I just find the idea of the AntiChrist/Devil taking over the entire world more coherently terrifying than an ancient Mesopotamian personification of a wind taking the time out of his busy schedule to possess a little girl and test a couple of priests. The Sentinel (1977), The Asphyx (1972), and Audrey Rose (1977) are among my favourite underrated 1970s horror movies.
