The Quest does not limit you to 1 app at a time. But you have to move the first app away from the center spot before opening a second one or it will close the first one... I know that's the dumbest thing, I don't know who thought that was a good idea!

Yeah I noticed that was incorrect too. The best way to open different apps is to just drag them from the dock to the space you want to see it in.

It's not dumb, 99% of people will want to focus on one app at the time. Your phone works the same way for example.
However you can drag a second app from the task bar directly onto a side window slot to skip the whole moving your first app thing.

Image quality sucks when you actually try to read text, nobody really wanna do productivity or read things in quest3.
the TH-cam video doesn’t show you the actual quality so many people will easily get fooled.
And for those who had quest3, they never experienced a better display and see the day and night difference.
It’s like someone using 1080 display will be happy with it if he never tried 4K monitor.
But once you experienced 4K monitor? You never wanna go back.

I did the Vision Pro demo, then bought a Quest 3. It gives me everything I need to get started in VR (I’m a newbie) and cost way less. The focus on games also gives it more of a way to fit into my life at this point. I’m sure I’ll buy a different iteration of the Vision at some point down the road, but for now Meta has a winner that’s a good value.

The Q3 has a higher field of view, higher fps/hz display options, an internal battery, better distributed weight , tones more VR/MR games, can be used with fitness apps/ u can walk/run around while using it, costs 7x less and haptic Feedback if u want with gaming etc. The AVP has better passthrough, higher resolution, eye tracking, more power (but probably all used up coz of the resolution) and an Oled display

The Quest has a screen resolution of 2064x2208 per-eye and the Apple has 3680x3140 per-eye... not sure where you get 3-times the resolution. Is it because the Apple has a smaller field of view?

    • @AutTheWizard
      @AutTheWizard 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

As someone who dislikes apple as a company, is a diehard android fanboy, and owns a quest 3, I disagree with this tbh. The vision pro is actually pretty cool. Saying "3x the resolution of the quest 3" isnt a good way to put it. The vision pro has a PPD of around 60-70. For reference, the only other headset on the market right now that has that level of clarity is the 6000 dollar varjo enterprise headset that also requires like a 1 grand a month subscription to use, not to mention a VERY powerful computer. For even more reference, the quest 3 and quest 2 both have ppd's of about 25. It is said that a PPD of 70 is similar to just looking through a window, there are no pixels visible to the naked human eye. On top of that, the vision pro is oled, similar to the bigscreen beyond. This means that you get the deep blacks which make a HUGE difference in an immersive VR experience. Adding on even MORE to this is the M2 chip. Like it or not, the S24 ultra is the first android phone with a chip powerful enough to beat apple's silicon, and thats compared to their MOBILE chipset. The M2 chip is a chip used in enterprise workstations and is incredibly powerful. I am sure it is very clocked down to maintain battery life and heat in the vision pro, but the fact that they are able to pack such a powerful chip into a standalone headset is incredibly impressive. This probably means that the vision pro can run at its native resolution without a computer, unlike the quest 3, which needs a powerful computer to run at its full capability because the chipset just isnt powerful enough to run it at its full potential.

On the kick drum in your mix at 3:20
Try boosting below 60hz, cutting between 80 and 2000k, reboosting between 2500 & 5200, then leaving it flat
The sample is very aggressive cardboard and we need some life for the kick and space in the mix for the rest of the instruments.

its funny that you outed yourself as a sound engineer of sorts (mix engineer what have you) but also outed yourself that you are still wet being the ears. No blanket EQ curve is applicable to every kick drum. Also the sound you hear from an unmixed track being compressed though youtube is vastly different than what you would hear from a mixed and mastered track in an acoustically treated listening environment. At the end of the day, art is art.

Although meta quest can do some form of spacial computing - but not at the OS level, doesn’t come close to Vision OS
The issue with META OS is you’re limited
You need a 3rd party app like immersed to truly experience true spacial computing but need to be remote connected to your PC
With vision, you can be anywhere, even outside.
On the other hand, meta quest is meant for gaming , clearly it’s strongest point

Hmm, this wasn’t bad actually, surprisingly thorough. However, when discussing using a Mac with Immersed, you didn’t mention the fact that what it’s actually doing in this case is basically doing a screen recording via SharePlay. It has a lot of limitations on resolution and frame rate unless you pay for a higher tier, and further because its a screen recording you are transmitting everything you see on your screens over wifi and also to Immersed apps servers and so there is a risk when entering banking information or passwords, etc. It’s possible that this limitation is only for the iPhone/ipad streaming, but i was under the impression it worked that way for Mac as well. If thats the case it’s a bit dangerous and irresponsible to not mention these things. I’m not being a nanny, I’m pointing that this is a MAJOR security thing that should get discussed when doing stuff like this

So your saying apple has yet again copied everything to release something where they ain't in the sector throwing the best tech into at the time.
But the rest are working up the tech to make the money. The only thing here is meta is holding the screens and the cameras back for the next headset, they are way ahead of what we get.
Apple just jumped in focused a bit more forwards int he tech with the same product trying to fool the sheep into thinking it's something else.
It's just funny it really is funny.
Imagine if the Q3 cost double and had the better cameras in and screens.
Then apple vision pro will look terrible for the money, it has iOS that is it's only main feature for them for apple nobody else and we all know the way the fan boys are when it comes to apple.
Like now your not going to admit it's the same product sold with a load of apple talk to hide the facts of it.
Yes the vision pro will be nice and clear but so can everything else with the next upgrades.
Now wait for appels next upgrade and see what they do for upgrades they will be controlling what they put in then to make the money on devices.
It's all the same game just apples not in it till now.
Next headset from meta and apple's got a big problem because with most headsets the upgrade quality but you cannot upgrade that if you drop the latest stuff on release in it.
Next vision will be no better but the quest is going to close that gap and be 100 times more functional with the real world.
I do get the vision pro for what it is with the better kit in it because that what you do with headset keeps chasing the resolution and fov.
But with the vision the fov makes a massive difference to the resolution as well and the vision is back in 2012 with fov.
Cannot justify having such good screen then dropping such low fov on it.

If you compare the AR functions and flow imma have to give it to the Vision Pro, the seamlessness of windows and apps with the addition of multitasking is eons ahead of the choppy quest 3 but the quest 3 is a solid vr headset! On a tech scale Vision Pro is a full on computer and the Quest is like a smart phone.

Next time I'm sure meta will produce two version: Quest 4 for about $500, and Quest 4 Pro for about $999. The Quest 4 Pro will have the same resolution of the the Apple vison Pro. I will wait for the Quest 4 Pro (likely would ben for Christmas).

This is just fine. However, if you have a MacBook and are interested in the Vision Pro, the integration for virtual displays and having the ecosystem inside the headset is just too superior

Is there a technical limitation that restricts the AVP to ONLY being able to provide basic SINGLE 'Screen Mirroring' for MacOS computers? It doesn't even give you a SECOND screen, it just provides a single 'larger' copy of the 'real' display?

I have a quest, the comparison is dumb. the quest software is nowhere near as good as apple's. you can't even easily load android apps on the quest. you can sort of make it work if you're very interested in the tech but the average person is not going to do any of this.

Yes, totally. I think the VR price point will converge to that 1000$ price point for high-end and 500$ for mid-end ... exactly like smartphones and computers which they are supposed to replace.

Spatial computing is just apples umbrella term for AR/VR. They don't want to call it what it is, because they know consumers will already do that after they have one.

"apple will have a $1000 Vision lite by september or 2025". Not a chance. You might get a Vision Air for under $2K, but you're not getting it for under $1K. There are limits to how much Apple will compromise the experience to lower the price point.
