I've had the 135mm Plena for 7 months now, far and away the best lens I've ever used, and in that time I've used it for pretty much everything except portraits, especially shallow focus landscapes. Once I stick put it on one of my cameras I have great difficulty taking it off to use anything else!
@@davewalker5706 I’m gonna do a whole video on using the 135mm wrong. Last time it was a mess, my fault, but I love the idea of breaking focal length norms because it’s really about HOW you use it, not what it was designed for 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
@@ZWadePhotoI was looking for a Plena page to follow on FB and I did not see one. I joined a 150-600mm page hoping that would have me get it out more and use it.
Thanks ZWade! Love your videos. I also have the 105 macro and Plena , such awesome lenses. I also recently bought the Z mount Voigtlander 75mm f1.5 which also seems to be a very nice lens with a lot of character wide open but sharpens up nicely when stopped down.
@ the special sauce is the unique look that some lenses have. It’s rare, but some lenses have a combination of qualities like tonal transition, color rendering, contrast, inner tonal detail etc, that when the images are viewed they just feel different. Like they have an extra bit of character and it’s just more beautiful Inherently. I’ll have to make a video on the secret sauce lenses
17:59: "switching between them will have you missing perfect sharpness on the eye with the 135." Could you clarify how you'd miss getting sharp shots with the 135? Thanks for the video, excellent summary.
@AdamCasada you want give yourself more working distance with the 135. Being at minimum working distance just doesn't give consistently amazing results
@AdamCasada the differences in the ACTUAL distance is not that much different, but the 135 at minimum doesn't seem to hit like then 85 first off at that distance, and secondly it's better consistently have one or the other. I've dual wielded them playing around. Because of the slight differences in those working distances, with the similarity in use case it just doesn't make a ton of sense ya know?
Another excellent video!!
Sorry for not connecting on a collaboration on the Z6iii..
Work has been insane.
Keep up the great work!

Gotta say i made a few really good portraits with my 24-70 f4. Most of them are enviromental, around 35 mm, but still i love them

@lpd13doc1 I'd sure like if Voigtlander would send me some samples haha. Glad you're enjoying the content!
I have those two lenses but not the Voigtlander. Why was it created? What is its Special Sauce?

I use the 135 Plena for all sorts of things, but never portraiture. It's just got that special sauce like you said. I absolutely love that lens!

If you had to pick betwen 105 mc and 135, what would you pick and why?
for portraits? or I can only have 1 period.
@@ZWadePhoto for portraits
@ for portraits only, 135.
Nikon needs to give us a 105 1.4 S.
Watch them up the ante with a 105 f/1.2 and charge 5,000 usd lol
Although not a Z lens the Nikon 105mm f2.5 Ais is still on my wish list.
I've got one. i love it.
70-200??
@@OracleTestlab what about it my dude?
