You need to include the F2.8 105mm macro when out and about. Best Z lens ever! From photographing a mushroom to taking beautiful portraits, it is hard to beat...
I got the Plena two weeks ago and haven't taken it off my camera since. It's a lot of fun to shoot with! Three greatest lenses is so hard! I guess: 24-120, 20mm, and the 135z lenses. P.S. Don't button the bottom button ; )
Really really want the Plena but it's so expensive (for good reason). I settled for the 105mm 2.8 AIS lens because i'm tryna practice shooting with manual focus more. I NEED THAT LENS THOUGH
Your single most-used word to describe the quality of a lens is "micro-contrast", but unfortunately, after 20 years of doing photography as a hobby, I still have no idea what that word means. I would love to see two images of the same scene taken with a lens that has "bad micro-contrast" versus a lens that has "good micro-contrast", so that I can see the difference for myself. Bonus points would be given for comparison of lenses that "pop" versus lenses that don't.
@@oliverracz2686 do your own research, you’ll find a lot of different definitions and by merging them all together you’ll get a sense of what microcontrast is. Some people look at it from the spatial frequency angle, some more from the tonal difference angle. My understanding is that it pertains to how many of the theoretical 16.8 millions of colours of an 8-bit image a lens is really able to let through for you camera to see. Bear in mind modern cameras produce 10 or 12 bit images and editing software can handle 32-bit images. If look at the spatial frequency side, rather than the colour side, the matter is even more damning, considering the literally unlimited types of textures Nature can produce at all spatial frequencies Now do your homework
With the latter two lenses, I'm a bit confused as to why you would prefer the 14-30 f4 over the 14-28 f2.8 which is getting rave reviews for its image quality.
This video is based on what I own rather than what I don't own. I've only used the 14-30mm and not the 14-24mm. I have zero doubt in my mind that the 14-24mm is a fantastic lens, just haven't had the chance to use it yet!
@@harveymanfrantinsingin7373 You're late to the party. He already said that he simply hasn't used the 14-24, so it's missing as a frame of reference, and potential buyers of the 14-30 should be cautioned accordingly. What exactly is your problem with that?
@@CC3GROUNDZERO no, not really. I read that… Unlike these fictitious shoppers you’re mentioning, I use my eyeballs and absorb information. In your scenario, you’re implying that people should watch this single video, and run out and buy these three lenses. Within that investigation, you will no doubt see the two lenses you’re referring to, compared, allowing you to then go do further investigation. I hope this clears up the confusion you appear to have.
Great line- up. i use the 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 and the are just AMAZING. But In the future am thinking about trading in the 70-200 for the 135 Plena. I hope there will be a new 35 mm by that time.
id say the z 24-70, 70-200 both 2.8s and the 85 1.2. but i guess ultimately it's what is for for purpose with what i want to shoot, each of my lenses have their purpose
My 70-200 2.8 is better than my 24-70 2.8. Also the 105mm Macro 2.8 is also an amazing lens for portraiture. It has a unique, clean and interesting rendering. My copy of the 24-70 is a bit weak between 35 and 65mm. Still an amazing lens, but the 70-200 feels more pristine, nicer in out of focus areas and delivers nicer shadows.
14-30 is not a sharp lens. It is just a versatile lens, lightweight but not that cheap. Its AF also sucks. 24-70 is a way better lens than its prodecessor, the AFS 24-70 in terms of sharpness. Although better in buld quality and sharpness, its AF is worse than the AFS at night. During an event photography with low light and on-camera flash 50% of the photos with my Z6ii were out of focus. At the same place, the AFS was dead accurate in a way I didn't believe in my eyes with over 90% good photos. I've tested 135 during a nikon event. It is faster in AF than the Z 85mm 1.8s.
I love my 24-70 f4 S Nikon lens! I hear the 24-70 2.8 is great, but I don't think the cost difference is justified over the f4 version. I agree with your other 2 choices for lenses! Great video! I would also add the 105 2.8 Nikon Z.
I agree the 135mm is very and that is even more out of the budget. I am not a professional and retire, so it is not going to happen. Too bad that Samyang is not coming with that focal length.

I couldnt agree more!! it is by far my most versatile lens! also VR!
Thanks for the heads up. I'm hoping to do portraits AND use this to reproduce my Kodachrome slides.
I agree these are all excellent. I wouldn't be without the 70-200mm 2.8 S, though. It's amazing...

Sigma 50mm f1.4 art with the FTZ adaptor is the best 50mm of all time. You should give it a shot
Have to say those photos with that 14-30 are epic man !
How about z50mm/1.2 ?

Hola, si haces más retrato que paisaje, agradeceras el desenfoque a 2.8 del 28-75. Un saludo desde España!

Very good video. It's very difficult to say what ate the best 3 lenses. I own 8 Z- lenses and they are all very good.
what is the app you use to find locations to shoot?
This might sound dumb, but I just use Google maps and try to find locations that way. You'd be surprised what you can find
For me, so far, it's the Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art. Really extraordinary.
Do you use the converter to Z mount? I have the 50mm 1.4 art in an f mount, not sure if u should sell it or buy the adapter…
Great video! Can you please do a video where you explain how to get the best out of the 135mm??
After spending a fortune on a Plena 135, then comes out the perfect Plena 105😩😩😩

I wonder how these will feel on a Nikon zf
The Nikon Z 14-30mm f/4 is an awesome lens. It gets 👍🏼👍🏼 from me!
I own the Plena at its pure glory!
Which one is best for vlogging
Definitely the 14-30mm f4s, I vlog with it all the time!

I am not really a camera person but I just don't understand why Nikon aperture generally comes with 3.5 not 2.8?
You move your hands to much makes it difficult to watch good info though!

Huh ...

Nonsense.
That 14-30mm f/4 isn't as nice as the Panasonic 9mm f/1.7.
The 9mm isn’t as nice as the 600mm 2.8.
See how stupid that sounds?! Two different animals.
