“Look how small it is!” - made me chuckle The 50/1.8 lenses when I started out were a third of the size Times have changed, and with it perceptions FWIW - I love my Nikkor Z 50/1.8 - optical excellence, without compromises
I know compared to my Fmount 50mm f1.4g it's massive 😂. The problem is I was using the 50mm F1.2 for a few weeks before that and that's why it seems so small now. Funny how with mirrorless bodies everything was going to get smaller... Still waiting for that to happen 😂
@@kieranhayesphotography The bokeh more vintage, the autofocus more fluid in fast movements with a gimbal, the fact that it has defects but strangely I like it a lot at f1.4 up to f1.8 after from F2, I find that they are quite close. I really like the 1.8s but I see it more for events, concerts, weddings ... while the 1.4z, I am more inspired to make videos of the cinematic movie type. I did not think to buy 2 lenses of the same focal length the same day haha. I must be stupid but I assume :)
@JLCinelens I find exactly the samething, I do these reviews and I end up loving lenses like the TTArtisan 75mm F2 for its light leak and lack of contrast shot wide open and it's pure character. Or the Meike 85mm F1.8 and God they are not perfect but that's what makes them unique then too. A lot of these new lenses are very clinical which is great from a photography perspective but for video it's hard to beat the feel of certain lenses. I have 3 50mm lenses here so I know what you are talking about 😂😂😂 and worse still I am considering buying a fourth one 😂
I got mine for £324 it's a totally different use to the 1.2s as they are massive. Talking of 85mm how about vs the Sigma f1.4 DG DN Art via the Megadap etz21 pro....?
That was a very good price indeed. Love that lens and yes I plan to hopefully get a few more 85mm lenses to test in with the 85mm F1.2 lens. I have three here ATM but not the art 85mm I sold that two years ago sadly.
I would love to review the Z 50 ii asap, I am just not sure how I will get my hands on one that's the problem. My TH-cam channel is very small so I am not a priority at all for Nikon, hopefully they can send me out one for a few weeks soon. I don't see that happening for a while though, sorry about that.
Oh I love the 35mm F1.8 that's actually the lens I shoot most of my videos with. It's a really nice lens. Looking forward to doing the group test now and seeing once and for all exactly how much of a difference there is between those lenses. Have a great weekend and thanks again for watching.
Me too and it's great, it really is. After using both now and testing both back to back I have my favourite already I think. Both great lenses though and both have their pros and cons.

Having bought the last two 50mm 1.4z and the 50mm 1.8s lately, I fell in love with the 1.4z
Now that's interesting, so you prefer the 1.4 Z to the 1.8? Was their something specific that sold it for you?

I have the 50mm 1.8S but i noticed that I need more bokeh like 1.2
Yes, that's the difference alright. Did you see my F1.2 review. That lens is awesome.
Please let’s have your Z50 11 review ASAP. Thank you!

I got this lens when it was introduced. It's a keeper.
Looking forward to the 50mm smackdown.

Brilliant accent!
Thanks a lot, I think a lot of people haven't a clue what I am saying half the time :-)
