That one’s clean! I’ve got a 85 250sx and I love it very good machine. Built tough for sure. Picked up a 250 big red last month too and it’s very fun as well but it definitely feels heavier. I really like the reverse on these and the super low first gear.
Congrats! I also have a 1985 ATC250SX and love it. I recently added a 1984 TRX200 to my collection. The SX feels like an R after riding the TRX. The SX may be a good race against your newer utility quad.
@@TheMapleDude1 I think you will notice some advantages to a semi-automatic 4-stroke on the tougher trails. I know it is your slowest classic, but it is still faster than any 2015-2024 Honda ATV other than the Rincon 680. I believe it goes slightly over 50 mph and at just 358 pounds, it weighs half as much as a new Rubicon or KingQuad.
@@TheMapleDude1 Lol a minor drug trafficking charge when I was 18. Went to all the work to get a pardon and what not and still refused me at the Maine border. Almost 40 now and have never been in trouble again
The hitch is an aftermarket CMP Hitch from the 80's. Also the headlight guard is aftermarket. neither are Hondaline options but still really cool parts.
@@TheMapleDude1 Also, That rattle may be the timing chain. If it doesn't go away after an oil change and valve adjustment, very possible it's the timing chain. Pretty common on the ATC250 engines and not hard to change out for a new one.
@@TheMapleDude1 no sir, it has an automatic chain tensioner. Once the chain starts the wear it will cause a rattle sound. Some install a manual chain tensioner which removes the rattle sound, but that’s flirting with danger for sure. Easy enough the change out and they are readily available. Let me know if you need one and I will get you setup with a replacement.
Dad props 🤘🏼 one day he gunna look back when we has more perspective of other childhoods and REALLY cherish this…. I still do and I’m almost 40
I know you get the significance of that 80s era.
we got our 250sx from Michigan back in 2019! We love that thing the perfect power to fun ratio!
Do you run the stock type tires/ size?
@TheMapleDude1 I think so, there are on some 22x 10s all the way around. Our front end is messed up so we are going to do a 200x front send swap!

Awesome I love collecting these.
I had one of those back in the day. Good all around machine. Can rip it or work it. Nice find!
Yeah my man it is an all around unique machine.
I do agree with a 200sx! I have an 86 and an 88. Bought them for my boys. I ride them more then they do. Waiting for the 80's warrior!!
I guess a warrior might be next.
Very nice, one of the best they made!
It's cool and unique for sure.
I love it, fired up instantly should be a nice wheelie machine
It runs good so far.
Great find 👍
Thanks brother
So jealous of collection 😊
They're nice but it's just stuff.
Not just stuff - memories of my youth.😊
@@ashrobberrett6858 thanks man.

Thanks cobra, well try to get this out for some trail riding soon.

250sx, the oddball honda 250. Nice. Mine as well add a Yamaha 225dx -that sounds like a race.
That would be a great match up.
I’ve got the sx and a 225dr and I feel like the Yamaha is more torquey and feels and handles lighter and almost more fun in certain parts
@kollinspencer847 I believe it.
Nice work! Fellow Canadian trike Collector who is not allowed in States. Love to go to aTrike fest but too much work
Why not allowed here?

It was a Jack in the box

i remember the big red model some have a rear cargo rack that was atached to the frame and a rifle rack on the handel bars but did not have reverse
Interesting I thought all big reds had reverse.
@@TheMapleDude1 some of the old ones don't because the only had basic features like a rear cargo rack and mabye a rifle rack on the handel bars
84 200es had reverse the 82-83 200e didn’t 85-88 big reds are definitely the best of the three.
Jack’s shorts are vintage too , right??😮
Maybe I don't know.
That ATV cover is vintage??
It's from tue 80s apparently.
My guess a Big Red
Almost
Timing chain noise
Possibly but these apparently do make some noise normally. I've seen others online say that.
Get a trx 200sx
I will look.

@darrenwalker2365 not much power perry mild I assume.
