    Would the smart sense motors work with a HW ESC that supports sensored motors?

    • @RCPhysics
      @RCPhysics  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure if the sensored motors from different manufacturers are compatible. I'll look that up. Even if HW ESCs do recognize Castle Sensored motors, they may or may not operate as smoothly at low speed. Castle has patented technology that helps them control motors in a way to maximize smoothness and power output. HW makes good ESCs, but I do not know if they have been able to achieve the same level of control.

      @zoomzoomtoys131 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for replying, I could not find an answer to this question anywhere. I have asked Castle, hopefully they will reply. I have always purchased Castle ESCs, but the price difference between HW and Castle ESCs is difficult to ignore. I can get 120A HW sensored motor capable ESC for $40 while the similar Mamba X is around $120.

    I have an HPI RS4 Sport 3 Flux. Any kind of advice or place you can point me in order to fix the wandering steering issue? . I’m a noob but would like to learn how to dial a car in, like find a way to make it keep it’s heading but not in the easy way for example with TSM or AVC. I really want to learn and the old fashioned way. Any advise would be much appreciated.

      A lot of the time, the problem can be traced back to "slop" in the front suspension. Slop just refers to the annoying little wiggle we often see in out suspenstions due to loose tolerences. The simple way to eliminate this is to use Teflon washers to ship up the "sloppy" suspension pieces.
      Here is a link to RCP Ep 108 where I show how to take care of this. th-cam.com/video/JpgE4emSw4Y/w-d-xo.html Make sure to re-align your suspension afterword with the car fully loaded. There are videos out there showing how to do this, but your camber should be right around 0 deg and you should have a slight amount of toe-out on the rear for good steering stability speed running. The rear tires should be straight or have a sligh amount of toe-in, although many cars do not have an adjustment for rear toe.
      Let me know how it works out.
      Let me know if this does not fix the problem.

      rhouse21 - RC Physics aw man thank you so much bro. I ended up putting o rings at the ends of the dog bones at least until I receive my adjustable turnbuckles I also but a shim behind the rear diff bevel gear If I’m saying it right. Has helped so I’m just waiting for the TB and then I can make the adjustments of the cambers and toe in and out. But will definitely try it once I get my GPM racing turnbuckles from Hong Kong. Will definitely keep you posted. I tried to use a Yeah Racing GC301 gyro but unless it’s faulty it did absolutely nothing to help keep it’s heading. Will not quit. But will keep trying at it. Thanks a bunch man. Love the paint job on car and I have the same Rims you have they look very cool except o have mines on a Tamiya TT02 Acura NSX. Could I ask you what body shell that is you got? 200mm or 190mm? Thanks again man. Love your set up. I want a Castle set up so bad. Might get one but only after I can get wandering steering issues resolved. Can I ask your opinion, what do you think about the Castle Creations Sv3 Waterproof 1:10Th 12V Esc & 1406-4600 Sensored Motor for a touring car? Any good in your opinion? Or should I save for that amazing 199. Set up you got. It’s sick I love the low speed control with all the power and punch if you so choose to use it.

    • @RCPhysics
      @RCPhysics  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've run a lot of SV3 setups over the years and still have one (with a 4600kv 1406) in one of my kids' Rustle Basher. It's a great setup and the 4600kv should do nicely in a touring car. The question is what is your goal?
      The SV3 is not the best speedrun ESC. I've used it to get to ~70 mph in a Rustler and a Slash 4x4, so it will probably do ok in a 1:10 scale touring car, but they can overheat pretty easily under sustained abuse. The SV4 may be a little better choice if you can't swing a Mamba X.
      If you just want a fun car that can go nuts in a parking lot and occasionally jump to 70-ish mph, a SV$/SV4 setup will probably do fine. If you want to go for 100+ mph of 4S (or higher), you may want to save up for the Mamba X combo.

    • @MrKingNica
      @MrKingNica 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RCPhysics Thanks a ton rhouse21 you never disappoint. I think I will just give the SV4 a try. What is a good KV motor to choose from or combo to get in your opinion? Sorry for the extremely late response. Thanks again for all your advise. I did get rid of plenty of slop and it helped so I'm getting there slowly. I also added a front and rear spool and that seems to help. For no I have an AVC reciever installed but plan to disable once a get my Robinson gear for it to see how it does without cheating. I hate cheating and using AVC or the such.

      @@RCPhysics what do you think about this MAMBA X, 25.2V WP SENSORED ESC AND 1406-4600KV COMBO as opposed to the 5700kv you're using. Could you please help me undestand the real difference? I really want to save up for a Mamba X and Godwillingly I plan to.

    Do sensored rc motor need cooling fans

    • @RCPhysics
      @RCPhysics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Motors only need cooling fans if you push them really-really hard. Castle Motors are really efficient, so you generally don't need a fan if you use moderate gearing.
      Most of my cars don't use cooling fans at all on their motors. I have one on my basher Slash 4x4 because I have a dirt cover over the body which limits cooling airflow. Other than that, my other cars rely on natural cooling and I haven't had any motor overheating issues.
      I wrote an article about how running fans can actually mask problems in your RC. Check it out. There's a lot of good info in there. facebook.com/rhouse21RCPhysics/posts/835128996658610
