One thing to check on the battery issue is I saw he had what looked like power wires for an amp. You have to have an ignition signal for both your stereo and amp to prevent them from staying on and draining the battery. Could have caused such a bad voltage draw that it made all the modules go crazy and throw tons of codes. I hope that’s the case for this poor guy anyway.
I love those impalas. Had a 3.9l and for a v6, she had some power to her. Heart dropped when I heard about the codes. Same thing happened to me; had to trade her in. Just too much money to take care of a 210,000 mile chevy. But goddamn it sucked to have to do; still miss that car
He's generally right. They technically can and have made a good 4 cylinder, like the Iron Duke, but they can't make a modern fuel efficient 4 cylinder engine. In fact, they don't anymore. If you ever wondered what the hell happened to Daewoo, they were purchased and renamed to "GM Korea" but they're still the same people and are responsible for cars like the Spark, Sonic, Trax, and the Cruze.
Just subscribed and I'm quickly noticing these newer cars all have catastrophic timing chain issues and they are supposed to be more reliable than timing belts 😮😮😮
Timing chains are great when oil is regularly changed. When metal heats it expands, hence the timing chain slack and the slip. Majority of the time it’s sadly the “I don’t know much about cars” crowd
Had to replace my timing chain last year. Nearly $6k. Only paid $10k for the whole car so that was a pretty big hit. Certainly wasn't prepared for that. Thanks for being an honest person. Karmas a bitch
I would have not even hooked up a scanner once I heard the chain rattle. But give you an E for your efforts trying to help this dude out.
i dont know if its just me but i have a hard time holding conversations with people who keep saying that sucks when im explaining stuff to them
I'd even check that the ECM/ECU module has its' harness connected fully/properly... seen weird errors like the above when the connector wasn't fully seated (ie. partial contact on some pins). Given the last "mechanic" didn't seem to know what they were doing, chances are decent they didn't even install the ECM connector properly.
Thanks for being honest man your dope
These cars are literally junk. Hope my boy can save up for another one.
People! By word of mouth find a reputable mechanic please! Even if you think its a little pricey, in the long run it will save you money and heartache! If you try and cheep out, it will cost you way more i guarantee you!🙏🙋♂️🙏
One thing to check on the battery issue is I saw he had what looked like power wires for an amp. You have to have an ignition signal for both your stereo and amp to prevent them from staying on and draining the battery. Could have caused such a bad voltage draw that it made all the modules go crazy and throw tons of codes. I hope that’s the case for this poor guy anyway.
Fast clicks like that isn't necessary a dead or bad battery. Those fast clicks are typically connections
I love those impalas. Had a 3.9l and for a v6, she had some power to her. Heart dropped when I heard about the codes. Same thing happened to me; had to trade her in. Just too much money to take care of a 210,000 mile chevy. But goddamn it sucked to have to do; still miss that car
Great job, Matt, I subbed 👍 4 you.😊
My dad always said Chevy can't make a 4cyl to save their life they can only make good push rod engines
He's generally right. They technically can and have made a good 4 cylinder, like the Iron Duke, but they can't make a modern fuel efficient 4 cylinder engine.
In fact, they don't anymore. If you ever wondered what the hell happened to Daewoo, they were purchased and renamed to "GM Korea" but they're still the same people and are responsible for cars like the Spark, Sonic, Trax, and the Cruze.
what
Same thing with dodge the dart is terrible the srt engines are rebadged Mitsubishi. Ford is rebadged Mazda.
true although don't think the car here is a 4cyl
@@elderclock yea I noticed it looked like a V6 when I was writing the comment but posted it anyway
Compression test is a good start there.
My computer came with instructions to re key the car so the original key would work
Matt, do you have a merch store? I would really like to get a Here’s the Deal shirt.
Change the oil regularly and you won't have that issue, plus don't drive the hell outta your car
Had to replace my timing chain last year. Nearly $6k. Only paid $10k for the whole car so that was a pretty big hit. Certainly wasn't prepared for that. But it has turned out to be a pretty decent car. I love it. But still, I'll never buy another car without a knowledgeable man by my side. Did my best but sometimes your best just isn't good enough 🤷♀️🐝
Bad customer bad car I would have left as soon as I seen him and the car. I wouldnt even waste my time. Also with all those codes with the sensors he may have a 5v reference issue, timing issues, ignition been tampered with, just a hell hole walk away fast.
Every time I watch one of his videos he doesn’t ever fix anything 😂
For real, I am trying to learn something 😂
Here's the deal.... Your car has too many problems and I don't know how to fix them. I always laugh when he pulls his little Snapon Apollo, I know nothing's gonna be fixed
You're not watching enough videos...He's fixed a bunch of vehicles
It looks like the PCM needs to be programmed, or at least put the old one back in. A 2009 you are still able to program a used Pcm's with sps2.
Much respect to you being 💯 with the young man
How can a car still run with that many codes? That's insane. I feel sorry for the young man. Karma is coming to the guy that simply ripped him off - period. It's not right doing people like this.
Dude. Where's my car??
Change out battery, hook up old ECM, clear codes. Drive for what you consider to be a good test drive. Check and clear codes, drive again. Change the timing chain. Keep working with it. Dont forget to check the new battery's voltage throughout the testing. A crusher may be needed!!
My truck threw a bunch of cam and crank position codes one time and I disconnected the battery and unplugged and then replugged the harness and everything went away . Been couple years
That's a 9th generation Impala for you. After having my 08 constantly taking a crap on me, one repair after the other, never again. Based on my experience, they're nothing but problems no matter how well you take care of it.
I like to play dumb with mechanics to test their characters and when they make up some shit I’ll be like oh really !?!? And when they see I’m not uneducated the whole act changes. Its hilarious
Is that Apollo d9 from Snap On themselves? I'm wo during where and how you bought that thing.
You should make shirts that say “here’s the deal” that’s your catch phrase
Anytime a battery goes dead or is on its way out it makes your sensors not function properly.. which will obviously throw a bunch of code.. i always clear them.. then see what comes up after
Were they Current, Stored...? I would've taken a pic of all of the codes after the scan, & then tried to clear the DTC's. Restart the engine & rescan for DTC's to see what, if any remained.
New battery needs alternator new starter done
Sounds like the guy swapped some shitty parts onto his car
Uncovered ignition. Key broken and doesn't fut correctly. My spidersense is tingling for stolen car.
Seems like all timing issues except for the key one
You don’t have to keep saying awwww man that sucks ,oh man that sucks , he obviously knows that he’s in a bad situation. Have some respect 🫡 hope you fix his car
27codes is nuts! No wonder the other mechanic popped smoke.
Hopefully he grows this channel to help some of them for free
Damn bro straight robbery
U the man Matt! Gould you give me a round about GUESSTIMATE on what it would cost to replace the evaporator on a 2008 ram 1500... I know the dash has to come out... but just curious.
Could you put the old computer back in and start from fresh? Maybe the old computer was okay
as soon as I saw 3.6 VVT I knew there'd be some camshaft codes
Why didn’t u put thr old computer back in ??? 😂😂
Kinda disrespectful to laugh in their face bc they might not have money to fix all that
What is the update on this repair Matthew?
