I had this exact problem with the pace 2. The charger wouldn't charge the watch after a while. They had me record the watch while using the charger. They sent me a new one. The old one was deactivated. Pretty simple process.
Yeah... those watches newly released by Garmin are wicked expensive and they do look nice. I have asked Garmin for years to sponsor some of my testing or send me a few media sample watches and thus far, nope 🙅♂️ Perhaps, after I break the 10K or 30K subscribers 🤔 Thanks for watching my COROS video and yes, very great customer service 👏
I experienced the same issue on my Pace 3 out of box and a little cleaning with a q-tip fixed it for me. Sometimes production residue is on the contact pads. So a little spritz of electrical contact cleaner to a q-tip then rub the contacts pads on the watch with the a-tip. Same thing was happening to Garmin 955.
Did you try using a new charger? Happened to me with Garmin before. It would wiggle and fall out even if I got a notification and it vibrated the cord would fall out. Come to find out all I needed was a new charging cord.

Yes, I tried the charging cable that came with my Vertix 2S and encountered the same issues.
