I am so glad that you included "walking outside" activity. It should be included in all your reviews for people that are less sport oriented but still want to track simpler activities.
Agreed! Walking outside and inside (treadmill) is my main form of exercise. Maybe a short amount of weightlifting which is not even worth tracking. Walking, sleeping, resting (or background) heartrate, maybe sleeping SPO2 are the most important metrics for me to track.
Xiaomi always states that they update the sensors and algorithms and that the accuracy increases by a double-digit percentage, but every year, the results are more or less the same. It's a little disappointing. Thank you, Rob, for doing these reviews! You're amazing. Take care!

I am considering buying a Pixel 4 in the future because I live alone and it has some security features that I find very relevant. Other than that, I continue with my Mi Band.
@@TheQuantifiedScientistSir, I suggest you review smartwatches from TRANSSION (Itel, Infinix, Tecno) Ngl, I'm a Xiaomi/Redmi fan but Transsion is beating their identity of having the cheapest, functional, and feature-packed devices.

You best have it set to take the heart rate at one minute intervalls(or does smart interval take take h.r.more frequent during more intense movements?(i.e.&exercise wirh higher heart rates?).

I'm always so excited to get notified about your new videos on MiBands! I've had the MiBands 7, 8, and 9. I didn't use them much for exercise tracking, mostly as a general tracker for my sleep, since I used to have some issues. Honestly, I did have a very good experience with the 7 tracking my sleep. It felt like it caught my wake-ups within the minute. I decided to upgrade to the 8, and frequently found it recording I was asleep 20 minutes past the time I had actually woken up. I was seriously disappointed, and waited eagerly for the 9. I'm now finally wearing the 9, and I absolutely feel it is an improvement from the 8, but it does not compare to the 7. I'm always hoping for software updates to come around to improve the sleep tracking, but I'm always disappointed. Your sleep data just about perfectly reflects my personal experience with the Mi Bands. I've just ordered the 9 Pro, I'm hoping it'll be better. Please do a video on the 9 Pro too!
Thank you, indoor performance seems quite good. I have been using Mi Band for 1.5 years, not bad for heart rate measurement and keeping track of exercises. It is also good that I do not have to pay subscription fees on analytics and charge it once per week only or so.
I just discovered your channel and it a goldmine. Thank you so much for your hardwork! 🙏🏼🙏🏼 You helped in guiding me to find the correct watch for Xmas for my mom. The walking test is really important, please please please keep including it.

Impressive improvement for this tracker. Had a much older one (Mi5) and loved the battery life. Is the app any better? I'm impressed with how many devices you wear at one time! 😂. Thanks Rob for all your effort!

They're the newest releases and based on your old video of the Redmi Watch 2 lite and I am fairly certain that you'll be presently surprised! Plus its a very budget option so it might appeal to a lot of your viewers. Thanks Rob for these amazing reviews and keep up the effort!
Just amazing content provided for free. I love the balanced opinions given the price of the device. I mostly got one as a light smart watch (music messages time etc) and some basic hr monitoring and total sleep is a nice bonus.
Thank you for your effort, time and visualization of analyzed data! You channel is a gem! Can you please also test Xiaomi Smart Band 8/9 Pro? I am curious if it also has issues with HR tracker.
I ordered one and found that the HR tracking was pretty bad, sent it back, but could not find anything better so after wathcing your video I ordered another and found that the armbands are replacable, so ordered nylon and now it sits well on my wrists and no hiccups. Every time i cross checked it with another pulse measuring device it showed the same. Imo the original TPU bands are a bit stiff and the adjustment holes not good the strap is either too loose or too tight, i would guess this is what you also saw on your records.
Bought one about a month ago when the glass on my Band 4 eventually broke and rendered it unusable. I obviously bought it for price and battery longevity. Not so much for accuracy. Few remarks on the device overall: i like the much slimmer/flatter profile compared to earlier Mi Band devices. Also the metal shell seems to make it more durable. The screen is significantly improved in both the brightness, resolution, size and refresh rate. The bad thing is that the default wrist rest is still the same silicone one. From my experience from Band 4 i can tell that this will break apart in a year forcing me to buy a new wrist rest to replace it. Battery lasts just about 7 days like i want with maxed out brightness, heart rate, blood oxygen and heart rate monitoring. I disabled the stress monitoring as it seemed pretty useless. First few days after charging the battery quickly loses 20-30% of the charge but holds up very well in the 70-20% range. Below 20% it again starts draining quicker and offers to enable battery saver at 5%. This is with five days of nighttime outdoor walking (about 8km) and two 40 minute weight lifting sessions in a week. So far im happy and it's a clear upgrade from my old Band 4 model.
Hey man. Really love your in-depth analysis using statistical graphs. I am confused between the Amazfit Balance and Amazfit T-Rex 3. Which one has the more accurate tracking overall?
So what you're saying is if I want the Mi Band 9 to be as accurate as possible, I'll need to wear a wristband over it during the day to block out the light?
Great Video. The two watches and then a scatter plot as well! Fantastic 😍 Wonder if biology is the reason for the left/right comparison or variance in sensor productions ...
Thanks for all these measurements. I just wanted to order something quick to check my pulse throughout the day and stumbled into your channel. One suggestion maybe instead of R=0.95% you could change the display of this value to 95% (as an engineer I do not have an issue with any format but for the average watcher it is more consumable AND you won't have to repeat that "correlation higher than 1.00 is not possible"). Greetings from Vienna :)
Great review. Are you left handed by chance? You've done a few reviews with bands on both wrists. I wonder if your left wrist is more muscular/bigger leading to better sensor readings.
Hey there! Your videos are super interesting and helpful. I used them to help me decide my last watch to buy and I'm watching again to decide if that should change any time soon. However, I have 2 suggestions that I think would make the data visualization more clear AND impactful to the viewers (would be cool to hear your thoughts even if you don't agree!) 1. The current line chart used for heart rate correlation and order seems a bit confusing. I feel like correlation should be on the Y axis as the independent variable, and the position on the X axis. This way, you could also have a bar chart where it's easier to compare how close/far in correlation each device is. Right now the vertical line makes it feel like their heights should be compared (given how we generally read graphs) but they're all linearly spaced because it represents the position and not the correlation. Hope that makes sense. 2. Would be very very interesting to plot some of these correlations/accuracy/performance with another variable on the other axis like Price. That way, we can see the price to performance correlation and if there are any positive or negative outliers when it comes to price. It looks like you always research the price and mention it so I feel like incorporating this into the visualization would be great :)
Thanks for the balanced review. I've read some reports that the Mi Band 9 has an inaccurate step counter when running/jogging. Have you experienced or tested this yourself?
I only use it for email/phone alerts and the time. The health features I know aren't good, but I like to watch your videos to know exactly what to expect for those features, as they aren't my use case for it. I cannot hear my phone ring, and it's vibration rarely is any better, the band has solved this really nicely, and the text info to know if I should even bother. For me personally the display on this new one made it worth the upgrade, really didn't like the 8 much, loved my 7 but I lost it (stupid strap thing to hold it in the band didn't fit nearly as securely as the 5), skipped the 6, and the 5 was nice for it's time but screen was really limited.
This is a great review. I am considering getting the 9. Ive been using the Mi Band 5 for a few years and i love the form factor because i wear it on one wrist and a mechanical or digital watch on the other, and it doesn't look weird 😅 What would be a better option to the 9? Maybe priced slightly higher but looks similar.
I've no background in heath tracking devices, is there a reason to believe that the polarH10 isn't responsible for deviations? Or is it allright to assume that they will undergo similar interferences (like when the watch would sense a higher value will the polarH10 also sense a higher value or is there a chance one thinks it's higher while the other thinks it's lower and making it seem like the watch is more inacurate then it acutally is?)
Hi Rob! I really love all your videos and always consider your reviews before buying any tracker. Maybe, you could add a review of the Suunto Race S? I’m super curious and thinking about getting one. I checked your channel, but didn’t see any reviews for this brand yet 🤔
Thanks for the amazing video. I got it as a replacement for my Mi band 5 and mostly for sleep tracking but it was so way off even with my band 5, especially registering that I woke up many times for a long time during nights, that I just returned it. Felt like a complete waste of money.
Hi! I`ve seen all your 2024 videos from Greece!!Great job and professional analysis, so far!!!Let me ask you this...I`m an owner of Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3...but as far outdoor acivities and gym workouts I` m not satisfied from the heart rate monitor!! I`m considering buying the new Redmi watch 5 (yet to be reviewed...but I dont think it will be so much better than its predecessors). If I don`t want to spend a fortune for Garmin or Apple Watches...would you say that Huawei is the best candidate? If so, what watch or band you would recommend?Thx in advance!
Hey there, do you have anything available that we can check for a detailed database of all the watches you've tested? Like the best watches for each category so we can make an easier choice when we buy...
How would this compare to the Huawei band 9 ? Also I know the garmin vivosmart 5 is 2 years old .. it’s priced quite well right now.. similar range.. also any idea when the vivosmart 6 would be coming out ?
The Huawei Band 9 is definitely much better. You can see the measurements for the Huawei Band 9 (left) in the diagrams. In most cases, the Huawei Band performs better. I personally own both devices, and while the Xiaomi has a faster CPU, better display, and more responsive touch, the Huawei Band has superior sensors and software that makes much more of your measurements than the Xiaomi Band. Additionally, the Huawei Band’s display can show more information with a well-sized, readable font, compared to the Xiaomi. The Xiaomi Band is fine and is a good choice if you want very simple software. The Huawei, on the other hand, is more complex, so it may not be ideal for users who aren’t ready to invest some time in learning the software.
When it comes to fitness trackers sleep tracking is my priority I am using Mi band 7 and it is quite doing okay and I actually did a downgrade from band 8 to band 7 as I have given it to my father just because of the sleep tracking so which band would you recommend for better sleep accuracy please let me know

well... now the question is "how can be a device like this one worse in walking than in running?!?".
+1
I don't understand it either...
I think that the reason for this is :

In walking, the deviation is considerably smaller (you swing your hand less and your body bounce less) so there's possibility that there's less event to trigger the HR tracking, resulting in not so good details (like highs and lows), but maybe acceptable average.

Hey there! Your videos are super interesting and helpful. I used them to help me decide my last watch to buy and I'm watching again to decide if that should change any time soon. However, I have 2 suggestions that I think would make the data visualization more clear AND impactful to the viewers (would be cool to hear your thoughts even if you don't agree!)
General question. Did you take into account the variation or error of the polar H10 or this is not filtered and shows up as deviation/disagreement?
Thanks for the balanced review. I've read some reports that the Mi Band 9 has an inaccurate step counter when running/jogging. Have you experienced or tested this yourself?

This is a great review. I am considering getting the 9. Ive been using the Mi Band 5 for a few years and i love the form factor because i wear it on one wrist and a mechanical or digital watch on the other, and it doesn't look weird 😅
What would be a better option to the 9? Maybe priced slightly higher but looks similar.
I've no background in heath tracking devices, is there a reason to believe that the polarH10 isn't responsible for deviations? Or is it allright to assume that they will undergo similar interferences (like when the watch would sense a higher value will the polarH10 also sense a higher value or is there a chance one thinks it's higher while the other thinks it's lower and making it seem like the watch is more inacurate then it acutally is?)
I'm glad to watch your review soooo scientific.
Rob, please review/ compare between huawei band 9 and Huawei watch fit se. Which is better?
Lets gooo bro🎉 i was waiting for this video from last 2 months❤ love you bro. Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩

Perfect review! Appreciated!
How about band 9 pro?
Thank you very much for your videos. Are you planning another one for the Fenix 8?
Hi Rob! I really love all your videos and always consider your reviews before buying any tracker. Maybe, you could add a review of the Suunto Race S? I’m super curious and thinking about getting one. I checked your channel, but didn’t see any reviews for this brand yet 🤔
Thanks best reviewer
Now choosing between this and the Huawei band 9 🤔
Hoping for you to get your hands on the Mi band 9 pro soon🙏🙏
Love your vids. When will you be creating a vid on the Oura Ring 4?
Would you recommend this over watches in the same price range? What is the best watch in this price range? Would it be the fitbit charge 5?
Please make video about Athlytic app and how it compares to Whoop with for ex Apple Watch Ultra
Please review the Luna Ring!
Hey man, make a video on best smartwatch/band of 2024. Waiting for your review.
hey , thanks for sharing . how's the mi band 9 for swimming ? have you done any test on it ?
Thanks for the amazing video. I got it as a replacement for my Mi band 5 and mostly for sleep tracking but it was so way off even with my band 5, especially registering that I woke up many times for a long time during nights, that I just returned it. Felt like a complete waste of money.
Hope you can make some video on cheap knock off products, just curious how they perform.
So the Huawei wearables are the best in the budget category, right?
Will you do the Scientific test to the withings nove ? It’s looks like a nice smartwatch
Please test the xiaomi watch 2
What’s the most scientifically accurate fitness tracker around 50 euros that you would recommend?
Hey there, do you have anything available that we can check for a detailed database of all the watches you've tested? Like the best watches for each category so we can make an easier choice when we buy...
Question what's the importance of the heart rate accuracy and what does heart rate determine ?
Would be interesting to test Redmi Band 5 Lite if they are using same sensors or not.
Have you looked in to the new HUWAEI WATCH D2 that monitors your dia and sys?
@ thank you my friend.. now is the universal version available anywhere ? Or just Chinese
can you please get Ultrahuman Ring and compare to other sleep device? Since your testing and data is the best
Which smart band would you recommend?
When it comes to fitness trackers sleep tracking is my priority I am using Mi band 7 and it is quite doing okay and I actually did a downgrade from band 8 to band 7 as I have given it to my father just because of the sleep tracking so which band would you recommend for better sleep accuracy please let me know
any chance to test the ringconn gen 2?
Please release the Apple Watch video before Black Friday, I'm waiting for the video to decide whether to buy it or not
