- Finally got the time and motivation to do a project I've been meaning to for a very long time - create a Hamilton animatic! I have yet to do any Hamilton fanart so I guess this could be considered my 'ultimate' fanart for now ha. (There are some small continuity errors lol.)
Yet another of many "Congratulations" animatics that have been done before! It's one of the songs I really wished could have made it to the final musical soundtrack, even though I understand Lin's reasons for ultimately omitting it. It's one of my favorite songs to be honest, because of how passionately Renée Elise Goldsberry sings it and how much it reveals Angelica's character. To me, the song was a confession that Hamilton might have known realized otherwise. I'm sure he knew she had feelings for him, but perhaps not to this extent and I wanted to show that not only did the Reynolds affair hurt and betray his relationship with Eliza - it also damaged his relationship with Angelica and the "sacrifice" she made for the both of them to be together and how he broke her trust (about taking care of Eliza).
Anywho, I hope you enjoy it!

Ahh, I'm flattered by all of this overwhelmingly positive feedback, everyone! I've been thinking about doing an animatic for like...the past year now, but I never had the time back then. (So if it seems like I came out of nowhere, it's because I literally did hahah.) I'm currently working on Satisfied actually, though it'll probably be a little while until it's finished since I'm going to try to add more frames/animated parts for the next one. Thank you for all the follows - I simply wanted to finish a side project and join in on the fun!

It's heartbreaking at how Angelica stood by and watched Eliza with the love of her life, and she now realizes how unfortunate her sister turned out. She always cared for her and she stepped aside. She thinks she shouldn't have, that if she didn't her dear Eliza wouldn't have ended up with an unfaithful husband. Hamilton, you truly have made a new kind of stupid. You rewrote your legacy with an affair no one accused you off. And CONGRATULATIONS on the great video and animating!
Sadly, Peggy had eloped and lived her life independently from her sisters until news of her death in 1801. There's no hint she visited like Angelica did, not did it appear that she stayed close contact. Only coming across Hamilton when he was visiting the area and she begged him to stay as she died. Reynolds Pamphelt was published in 1797. Peggy died in 1801 and so she must have heard of it but never cared to reach out to Eliza. Reading Angelica's biography she had returned to the States in 1797 to reunite with her family. The same year the Pamphlet was published. The sisters are very significant in Early America and like Angelica and Eliza, every important act would have been recorded for Peggy, but it hadn't meaning she didn't play a major role. Comparing the three biographies, Peggy had been distant from her family after eloping. Angelica's life was recorded from birth to being in England to returning to America to be with her family. Eliza's life depicted her life with her family, marrying Alexander, and her life after he died. Peggy merely gives how she spent her life at home, how she married, and her platonic relationship with Alexander. Peggy was also described as to be very vain so her personality may have also pushed her away from her sisters and made Eliza and Angelica very close. Therefore, Angelica's constant mention of her protectiveness and love towards Eliza can be understandable if her younger sister, Peggy, no longer wants to be part of the picture and to no longer remain close.

I love how you draw their emotions, so fitting to the song! I don't mean to be rude to other artists, but I'm not a big fan of how they tend to draw Hamilton's (and at times Angelica's) expressions as comical for this song. Your drawings, I could feel the anger, the pain, the sadness, the embarrassment, the betral the actors would have portrayed this scene, if only this song made the cut. But I feel like the reason this song was cut was because it makes Hamilton look almost as a villain (cheating on Eliza and getting confronted by Angelica about it.) Anyways, 'congratulations' on how amazing this art is!

Cindy Us I think this song got cut because there is a song for every year in Alexander's life and he died at age 47. There are only 46 songs but in the play they have the Laurens introlude.
I think they cut it because it took away a bit of the attention of Eliza's reaction (burn) which is more important Than Angelica's (congratulations)

I really like the concept that you gave Angelica the gloves. I like it bc she has something to do while talking/shouting at Alexander instead of just standing there and screaming. She also has something to clutch onto showing her anger. You you see the way she grasps her gloves and you see how made she is at Alexander thus showing how much she loves her sister,Eliza,who has been heart broken. Angelica also gives Alexander that sass while getting her gloves before she leaves. I absolutely love this!! :3

Okay, okay. This animatic of 'Congratulations' has too be my favorite one. The way you don't make her like crazy, but truthful and protective over Eliza is truly amazing.

Timing reasons, most likely.

I mean, it's not a great song. It seems really reductive when we already know he fooked up from the Reynolds Pamphlet, so this is just yet another "you did a bad thing" song but not contributing to the plot, Peggy's reaction is much better and raw. The line "like opening all the gates at the zoo stupid" is just....really not great compared to the much stronger lyrics in the play.
This is so well drawn that I'm ashamed there aren't more views.

I love how subtle the shifts in her expressions were. Both of theirs actually. Yet somehow those subtle shifts showed the emotions perfectly. Great job!! :D
This is the first Animatic iv seen that you can see the pain on Hamiltons face, most show him with sweat drops & an awkward expression & Angelica isnt shown as just being sassy; they're both in pain & know what needs to be said. Your facial expressions are incredible & I think I need to go cry for a minute.

Oh my god, this is the best animatic I've ever seen. And you captured the song perfectly. So amazing and on point, just... wow. I love how you let Angelica be both sad and angry at the same time. You could see she was mostly sad, that the whole situation made her die inside, but she turned it into anger to make him listen. And her love for Eliza looks genuine, exactly as she sounds when she sings it. I appreciate the concept of animatics but I personally dislike the exaggerated way many people draw them. It kind of takes away the beauty and the pain in the songs. But this feels real. It's intense, but realistic. Applause! Looking forward to your next one!
