This musical has helped me answer at least five separate quiz or test questions about the federalist papers. Because of three or four one-off lines in this song.

I feel like SOMEONE has to talk about the part where Hamilton starts running through the shadows of Angelica, Burr and then Eliza. It's the complete ignoring of his life outside of work, throwing away fun, friendships and family in an effort to establish a legacy. Eliza's arm going for a hug hits extra hard because she probably would've been the only person able to convince him not to go on. Amazing anaimation :)
wait hol up lemme look up the requirements for something to be counted as an essay and see if I can do this for my English essay that I’m supposed to be working on rn
5:30, I honestly love this depiction of this moment, as if Hamilton is using her words against her, his eyes dead black, staring into her, as if he's trying to dismiss her
I love the line "HAMILTON WROTE THE OTHER 51!" and how it's drawn out. When I watched the play, I felt like Burr was being supportive and it didn't quite suit his future emotions but here you can see the sheer fear in Burr's eyes. It's like an admirable fear to his dedication but also fear to the fact Hamilton is willing to go to any length to protect what he believes
There's a lot of mixed emotions from burr.. I always kind of chalk it up to being likeminded but philosophically different in terms of self interest and self sacrifice. Burr can't really understand why hamilton can be so successful other than the fact he threw all of himself into building this country into what it is today. Our entire economic structure is thanks to him, its why he deserves to be called a founding father.. he helped define this country along with the other fathers.
Burr is one of the most interesting and emotional characters. His many emotions displayed all throught the play, and especially through the last 3 songs of the play are really a roller coaster.
I love the "...I'LL KEEP ALL MY PLANS CLOSE TO MY CHEST ...I'LL WAIT HERE AND SEE WHICH WAY THE WIND WILL BLOW I'M TAKING MY TIME WATCHING THE AFTER BIRTH OF MY NATION WATCHING THE TENSION GROW I can feel Burr's feelings 😩
Reflection OwO lmao I think historical Aaron Burr was shorter than him though. Leslie Odom Jr (actor who plays Burr) is like- shorter than majority of the cast too. I’m not sure why everyone makes him tall??
When Alexander says “look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now” at 5:33 I’d like to believe this is him thinking about Laurens and the reason he keeps pushing to do more and more and him being non-stop is to make sure the country Laurens died for isn’t for nothing.
cool head cannon, but i think its not bcs of laurens but because how much he loved america, how much he fought for it and how much he saw on the beauty of the country he’d fight for, he did so much and there’s no way he could stop doing stuff to the country, and maybe because he saw his men die for the beloved country.
If I remember right historically Alexander Hamilton didn’t talk to anyone for days after he learned of Lauren’s death, it definitely hit him hard in the musical and irl
I don't know whether to think it's a good or bad thing keep pushing further and working non-stop to make sure your (boy)friend and comrades didn't die for nothing, but so much to the point of making your still-living family miserable? he did sacrificed *a lot* no doubt, but everyone around him pays for it
4:52 When the verse "How do you write like tomorrow won't arrive?" "How do you write like you need it to survive?" "How do you write every second you're alive?" The power of that verse when sung was palpable and utterly breathtaking; it sent shivers down my spine! Your Hamilton Animatic covers are also astounding, they're simply mesmerizing to watch!
I'm obsessed with the drawings of this part bc Hamilton is walking past all of the people who want him to slow down, then we see him talking to Washington. It's an amazing effect bc it looks like Hamilton is leaving his friends and family to do what Washington asks him, the way he's leaving family life for his job.
I absolutely love how hamilton sees himself on-stage, as if he saw through the eyes of lin-manuel for the last part, telling people from his heart: he is not throwing away his shot. He won’t stop. He’s non-stop!
brother you can feel the transition from shock... to amazement... to fear.. to a hint of jealousy.. to absolute despair. All in one statement damn bravo man bravo
"I imagine death so much it feels more like a memory is this where it gets me, on my feet, sev'ral feet ahead of me? Do I run, or fire my gun or let it be? There is no beat, no melody. Burr my first friend, my enemy, may be the last face I ever see, if I throw away my shot, is this how you remember me? What if this bullet is my legacy? Legacy. what is a legacy? It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see. I wrote some notes at the beginning of a song someone will sing for me. America, you great unfinished symphony, you sent for me. You let me make a difference. A place where even orphan immigrants can leave their fingerprints and rise up. I'm running out of time. I'm running, and my times up. Wise up. Eyes up. I catch a glimpse of the other side. Laurens leads a soldiers' chorus from the other side. My son is on the other side. Washington is watching from the other side. Teach me how to say goodbye. Rise up, rise up, rise up. Eliza, my love, take your time. I'll see you on the other side. Raise a glass to freedom.... He aims his pistol at the sky- WAIT!"
What's sad is the fact that during "helpless", Alex said "as long as I'm alive Eliza I swear to God you'll never feel so helpless", and then during "non stop", Eliza sings she's helpless when Alex is leaving her for the treasury state department. Alexander broke a lot of promises, but no one really talks about this one is particular. I find it really sad because he swore she would never feel like that again, and there she was... edit: also, he called Maria Reynolds "helpless" during Say no tho this, which is a parallel to the same thing Eliza called herself when she met him.
I feel like that one made sense though… he definitely overdid it overworking himself but at the same time if all she knew is he got a job that’s something I expect my partner to respect
well, i think its common sense the fact that alex didnt listen to his wife and stay home because of his new job, he did so much to the country and theres no way he would stop doing stuff for it. he did too much.
@Pandemonica The Tired Demon Imagine if there was an animation of this song but for a modern school group project and it's the group leader as hamilton
Can we appreciate the smug look on Aaron Burr's face like "finally Alexander, you're admitting your worse than me in court" and his smile when he shuts the door like "you're stupid, I'm done with you"
Top favorite part of the animation is when Hamilton is asking treasury or state and then Washington puts his fingers together and is just like "...treasury..."
you need to become a director, a storyboard artist, whatever because the directing of this is so effing good. i'm just impressed. the foreshadowing, the easter eggs, it's just a masterpiece man
The cherry on top of this whole animatic is the shadow that looms behind Alexander as he says the last line. "I am not throwing away my shot" with his final stance aiming his gun at the sky, his fufure, menacing behind him. It gave the chills, and the whole video gives me so many feels.
It's also foreshadowing his duel with Burr. Hamilton aimed to the sky, having never intended to harm Burr, essentially forfeiting the duel. Burr himself aimed directly at Hamilton when he fired.
@@greatdune3174 Yeah... that was what I meant by "his future" and "final stance" xd. It was subtle way of praising how the animator foreshadowed the end of the musical. :)
The jokes, the facial expressions, the FORESHADOWING AT THE END SHOWING HAMILTON THROWING AWAY HIS SHOT, it all is a brilliant animatic that shows how much Hamilton damaged everyone he loved by putting work first.
@@AdrianRakin In a literal sense, he threw it away by shooting at the sky instead of Burr, leading to his death. He also threw is political "shot" at gaining a better career by having an affair with Maria, being extorted for it and exposing that to the public.
insert_name_here92 At the end of Laurens Interlude Hamilton says ‘‘I have some work to do’’. Aaaaaaand... What happend in Non-Stop???. hE WoRks LiKe He’S rUnNiNg oUt oF tImE
To be fair, john j. didn't just "get sick" he wrote three, got sick, wrote a fourth, and then got hit with a brick. I doubt that ryhmes though so i understand why it wasn't included
I find it interesting how music makes Hamilton's "look around" almost mockingly. He doesn't mean it but Eliza feels he's rubbing her arguments on her face and her previous ideas from her song with her sisters have a different meaning. Before it was "we're living history" now it's "history won't ever let us live"
It was on purpose. Lin breaks down a lot of what he did and why he did it in the book he did on Hamilton. He wrote (paraphrasing here) that he had Alexander steal both Eliza's line and Washington's line in the argument with Eliza as he leaves to show that Hamilton really was non-stop/single minded, that he would stop at nothing and use everything he could get his hands on.
6:20 legit made me cry. His future looms over him as he his blinded by his ambition. He fought so hard until the moment when he chose not to take his enemies life, and he threw away his shot. That foreshadowing shadow gave me chills.
Ok, story time Once our English teacher assigned us a really fun prompt and I was really excited for it! Im a pretty strictly fiction only writer, but when it came to school I had to do what I had to do, however this prompt wasn't like the others. It was realistic fiction which I can totally get behind, except I was in a musical at the time. Anyway, by the time the musical was over I completely forgot about the essay until the Saturday before the Monday it was due (thanks to a friend reminding me.) Last minute panic set in and it was about 9am, so I got to writting. Even while I was eating I was writting. I finished on Saturday and accidentally ended up writing a 14 page paper instead of a 4-5 paged one. I ended up getting an 'A.' Yet, I will never forget how hard it was to make a good story in such short time and it makes me think that it must've been 1000× harder for Ham. Not only that but its hard to stay with a project consistently for 6 months. Everyday you just live and breath the same project and you cant let the drag or the repetitiveness of it all get u down. Hams is sooo awesome.
HOW DOES ONE MISS THE BAR WHEN ITS LITERALLY JUST TO COME HOME?? HE CHEATED, GOT THEIR SON KILLED AND COULDNT EVEN COME HOME AT THE END OF THE DAY, ITSNOTTHATHARDJUSTWALKTHROUGHYOURFRONTDOOR
I feel Burr, Eliza, Angelica, and everyone else who personally knew Alexander was calling him out for his workaholic behavior during 4:43-5:04. It can’t have been a healthy six months if he wrote 51 essays over the course of it, since that means he wrote at least half an essay a day on average for the entire time.
I actually saw it through a bootlink or whatever it's called.I respect Lin but I cannot afford a ticket to wherever it's playing+the ticket to the musical, plus the original cast won't be playing (how can you replace Jonathan ;0;)
“Treasury or State” “I know it’s a lot to ask” “Treasury or State” “To leave behind the world you know” “SIR do you want me to run the Treasury or State department?!” This exchange perfectly captures Hamiltons self destructive goals. He doesn't care about his friends or family, all he truly cares about is rising to the top, everything else is treated as an obstacle. "Soon that attitude may be your doom." How right Burr was.
Maria :/ am i the only one that gets it? For anyone confused: there is 48 tracks total in the musical. So it’s iconic and funny to say “and Hamiton wrote the other 51”
The plan was to write a total of twenty-five essays, the work divided evenly beyond the 3 men. In the end, they wrote 85 essays, in the span of 6 months. John Jay got sick after writing 5, James Madison wrote 29, hAMILTON WROTE THE OTHER 51! Group projects in a summary
Seriously though I'm literally at the point where I'm throwing out the middle man and doing my 1st semester project alone instead of working in groups of three and I'm still ahead of others in the class while helping the other two groups around me when they need it
I always do the project FOR my group because either: A. I hate their idea and think mine is better, so I create mine instead to prove them wrong Or B. I become nervous for our group because of how sad their work quality/writing is and decide to take matters into my own hands (not like my writing is any better XD)
The Yoda Who Lived my class was doing preswntations on organ systems and my table group was doing Digestive System. So, I remembered a lot of it and I tried SO hard to help them remember it, yet a girl in my group forgot the simplest thing, the Esophagus. She FORGOT EVERYTHING about the Esophagus and she EVEN WROTE IT ON HER HAND (even when you weren't supposed to) THEN A FRIGGIN KID IN MY GROUP JUST HAAAAAD TO MUMBLE EVERY TIME AND HE JUST BARELY POINTED AT IT AND WOULD SAY: "This is the digestive system and stuff.... Oh, um.... here's the organs I guess..... so.... yeah....."
Every now and then, I come back to this masterpiece and relive the glory days of Hamilton, I feel nostalgic just remembering when I first watched this video and being amazed at all the amazing shots and poses that really communicated the emotions needed in this scene.
One of my favorite parts in this entire musical is the ever changing yet static dynamic between Hamilton and Burr. They are the true meaning of frenemies. They trusted one another and respected the hell out of each other, but they always seemed to be on opposite sides of the story. No matter what happened they just couldn’t seem to mesh, even when they were working on the same thing. They’d known each other for so long and yet neither could understand the others motives. At the core of their existence they simply weren’t meant to work together.
Everybody saying their favorite part is “ HAMILTON WROTE THE OTHER 51” which I agree with but “ YO WHO THE F IS THIS?” Is one of my favorites and I want a person to agree
I like the "I was chosen for the constitutional convention :> :D" he sounds so *smol*, also the "let's go >:)" after Washington gives him the treasurey department
There's 53 reasons why this animatic is SO good: 1: The drawings are really good 2: It really expresses hamilton's emotions well Hamilton wrote the other 51 999 likes wtf
"Like you're running out of time? Are you running out of time?" The frantic irritated worry Burr's actor managed to put in that line is heartbreaking when you know that Hamilton *is* running out of time.
Everyone, while learning Non Stop: Okay Lin so how do we sing this last part? Lin: Well, do you remember all of the solos you've had thus far? Everyone: ... Yeah? Lin: Sing them. Sing then all. Everyone: one at a time? Lin: AT THE SAME TIME
Heh. I was suddenly reminded of "We applied the cortical electrodes but were unable to get a neural reaction from either patient." (For those who get the reference.)
Aside from “Alexander Hamilton”, this song honestly is the best song to describe the whole musical. It shows that Hamilton seems to think he’s always the smartest in the room, it shows that he is the most ambitious (writing THE OTHER 51!), and it shows how one of his biggest faults is putting his work before everything else, even before Eliza and his family. It shows how he and Angelica are on flirty friendly terms. It shows how his writing is a big part of who he is (WRITING... the other 51). And it portrays that with all of this, he will not be satisfied, he will always have something more to do. This is the best song in the musical and to introduce it to people. BET. Edit: and rewatching this video, as a point to both the song itself and the video, at 6:19, Hamilton sings “I am not throwing away my shot!” And this is followed by the sound effect of a gunshot, hinting at how he throws away his shot, and the video shows that while he himself is standing still, the shadow behind him points a pistol at the sky, showing us that in the end, him aiming at the sky is how he will end up throwing away his shot. Every time I watch this video there’s more and more amazing details in the song and the video! Well done!
Truueee I think so end is so interesting cause it show you how the first and the second act are connected, it's like if the end of this song (in this animatic) was the end of the show : you can already see the news protagonist of the 2nd act (Maria & her husband + Madison & Jefferson) and the final move of Hamilton
I'm glad you pointed out the gunshot, it's an interesting motif bc you can actually hear that sound effect throughout the entire soundtrack. Several songs include it in the score and it slowly grows in volume as the show goes on. For example, My Shot ends with the same gunshot noise, just much fainter than in this song. Like Hamilton's choices are leading him closer and closer to his final fate. Say what you will about the historical inaccuracies and ignorance of the more problematic parts of the real man's life, but Hamilton is technically very well done.
OH MY GOD 6:04 BLEW MY FREAKING MIND. God Szin, you're so good at capturing the song perfectly with visuals. Just that 4th wall break with Hamilton looking up at the crowd of people who are watching his life, his play, his history. It's so powerful and Szin pulled it off flawlessly
Taylor Breckenridge I'm a bit jelous of szin because I never thought an animatic creator would do that kind of 4th wall break, they must have put very much thought into this . And this is one of the songs I want to try drawing.
Taylor Breckenridge To be fair if you read the thicc ass book and i did and im 13 the ending Burr and Alex shot each other in the heart Alex died Burr did not.

When Alexander says “look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now” at 5:33 I’d like to believe this is him thinking about Laurens and the reason he keeps pushing to do more and more and him being non-stop is to make sure the country Laurens died for isn’t for nothing.
Screw you im tearing up now
i agree. considering what he life was like, poor guy never stood a chance at the start. 😔😔😔
cool head cannon, but i think its not bcs of laurens but because how much he loved america, how much he fought for it and how much he saw on the beauty of the country he’d fight for, he did so much and there’s no way he could stop doing stuff to the country, and maybe because he saw his men die for the beloved country.
If I remember right historically Alexander Hamilton didn’t talk to anyone for days after he learned of Lauren’s death, it definitely hit him hard in the musical and irl
I don't know whether to think it's a good or bad thing
keep pushing further and working non-stop to make sure your (boy)friend and comrades didn't die for nothing, but so much to the point of making your still-living family miserable?

I'm obsessed with the drawings of this part bc Hamilton is walking past all of the people who want him to slow down, then we see him talking to Washington. It's an amazing effect bc it looks like Hamilton is leaving his friends and family to do what Washington asks him, the way he's leaving family life for his job.

I know this is supposed to be separated at certain parts but I'm extremely lazy.
IKR
I feel like that one made sense though… he definitely overdid it overworking himself but at the same time if all she knew is he got a job that’s something I expect my partner to respect

It's also foreshadowing his duel with Burr. Hamilton aimed to the sky, having never intended to harm Burr, essentially forfeiting the duel. Burr himself aimed directly at Hamilton when he fired.

Once our English teacher assigned us a really fun prompt and I was really excited for it!

Well done!
I completely agree
Huehehe i did introduce my friend to the musical with this song
Truueee
I think so end is so interesting cause it show you how the first and the second act are connected, it's like if the end of this song (in this animatic) was the end of the show : you can already see the news protagonist of the 2nd act (Maria & her husband + Madison & Jefferson) and the final move of Hamilton
Who gave my english teacher a youtube account?
Same
I didn't expect that at all but it was great to see that 4th wall break , because technically history does have its eyes on him because of the musical
TheJake1012 I knowwwww it was so deep. It gave me chills

I just realized that when burr said " soon that attitude will be your doom" that he predicted the future o-o
@@wishbelle that's the 2nd death burr predicted.
1. John Laurens
'Fools who run their mouths off wind up dead' then Laurens shouts.
2. Alexander Hamilton
'Soon that attitude may be your doom' and later, talking too much kills him.
And creepy smile 😏
