Love that Hornet was on the ceiling when she was talking to the Knight, as if it is a very normal thing to be able to walk on the ceiling. Also, love the use of her spider abilities! (Namely, trapping Ghost/the Knight in webs)
@@MisfiT.Vibezz She’s at least half a spider. Her mother is Herrah the Beast, who lived/lives in Deepnest, home of the spiders. It’s how she gets her thread.
This might be the most beautiful HK fan animation that I've watched. I love how you animated Hornet using her spider abilities, and not just the stuff that she uses in the actual game battle. I also love how she narrows and widens her eyes, but the Knight's eyes stay perfectly round, as if they feel completely neutral about this. A lot of details in this!
She was not an enemy though. She just wanted to test Hollow Knight (by trying to kill him, yes), but as soon as HK has proven he is stronger, this was settled. Besides, Hornet is helpful
Yea the knight has zero emotion or care for anyone, the only reason THE HOLLOW KNIGHT isnt “hollow” is because he managed to form a father son relationship with the pale king over time. If i had to nitpick i would say that the Knight having abyss shriek instead of howling wraiths isn't possible cute this fight happens before going to the abyss and getting shriek. Other than that, great animation!
Finally, for once an animation that actually gives the hollow knight the canon personality of near-complete apathy rather than acting like a toddler. Fantastically done animation.
Well, that's more or less up to the player imo. Sure we can't talk but there's plenty of small moments to show that we do care. Meditating with the nailmasters, sitting lakeside with Quirrel, delivering the flower/giving it to other npcs etc. Ghost's apathy is entirely dependent on player behavior.
Alright so first thing's first, this looks INCREDIBLE, such a great interpretation of the in-game abilities. But also, how much has the internet broken me that I expected this to be a 'sibling dance' animation?
same lol, I thought it would be the sibling dance XD there's already one in the Hollow Knight fandom, and it's black and white (not colored) The thumbnail for this vid looked colored, so i was like, "hmm, a colored sibling dance animation, why not"
I really like imagining this kind of stuff with boss fights that have a really big meaning like this one, and finding that someone actually made an animation about that concept... this is just wonderful, good job!
I love how you captured the different fighting styles perfectly. The knight is a minimalist, only doing exactly what they have to in order to win, nothing flashy. Meanwhile, Hornet’s attacks look just as impressive as they are deadly, and her spinning her nail around at the beginning kinda shows that. Well animated!
this is exactly what I wanted to say. Also, I think hornet's (and the Knight's) personality was portrayed perfectly as well. this is the best hollow knight animation I've seen so far
@@Gardengap The knight's attacks were flashy, but not on purpose. Since the knight (by design) has no personality, It attacks with what it has and only does exactly what it needs to do to overcome a challenge, nothing more. Hey thank you for making an absolutely amazing animation about hollow knight that not only has very high quality animation but stays true to the characters and how they react in combat. Thank you for this absolute masterpiece of an animation.
What I like the most is that even the number of shadow souls is accurate: there are eight of them, as if a hero with a full soul pool was shooting using a Spell Twister. Well done Author!
I love every single thing about this, the creativity of the fight, the quality of the animation and the STELLAR sound design. This is one of those videos that keep me moving forward to work in the animation industry, in other words... thank you for providing us this masterpiece.
I thought this exact same thing, but didn’t want to comment something that made me seem like a nerdy asshole who critiques every little detail, but the way you wrote your comment addresses the inconsistency AND shows you enjoyed it, which is honestly impressive
i like how since the knight is a vessel his eyes keep the same, emotionless stare for the whole fight, whereas hornet's eyes change to reflect her emotions
This makes me genuinely sad that there isn't an cartoon adaptation of Hollow Knight... Regardless though, that animation was amazing! Probably the best fan work I've seen for this series.
yes, this is truly quality, when I first came to the arena, I said "The backdrop is like some sort of samurai duel about the happen" during my playthrough and this is epic.
One of my favorite parts of this is how Hornet has facial expressions but the Knight does not. My other favorite part is how it shows Hornet using her spider silk and spiky balls!
I love how this adds onto and incorporates elements from the game. Crystal dash attacking is amazing and cool, and at the same time you can see him using things like Baldurs Shell and Spell Twister. Not to mention how beautifully smooth and dynamic it is. I love it.
@@Spades-tf5zs when he uses vengeful spirit, he does 4 in a row, pauses, and fires again. Without twister, you can do 3, load in soul vessels, and fire again. It might be an inconsistency, but in a way that makes it better

The fact that with the knight you can see that their face doesn’t really change and is unresponsive while hornets is expressive is such a small and neat detail that could have been left out but really makes such a huge difference in the story
Hornet: *Guarding the king's brand to guard the stronger powers namely the abyss shriek and Shade cloak Speedrunners today: *creates an alternate world so that the rooms and items are random, making it possible for the knight to have all abilities before fighting her. Well, I think THAT was the fail of the animation. How Knight got the hability upgrade if he still doesn't get the King's Brand? If my memory doesn't falling, It are in the Abyss, the one that you only can access with the King's Brand.
this was great to watch. a highly technical fight that actually feels like the blows are connecting as hard as in the game is great. i love the idea of her blows cracking the hollow knights mask as technically speaking that is his health and i imagine that each blow just breaks the outer mask layer. I would love to see your take on the pure vessel fight though i admit that one is probably much more complicated.
2:02 The moment when the knight dodges Hornet's attack to sliding on the floor and then attacking with his spin attack. It's so smooth and the music fits as well.

Seriously, this is one of the best fan animations I’ve seen in years. Just, the way the action FEELS is how I felt going through this part of the game, only even more epic if that makes sense? And all the amazing little details, like Hornet’s mask being a warmer shade than her sibling’s, Ghost’s bland machine-like precision, to really subtle things like the way Hornet lays down multiple strands as a trap (just like real spiders do, seriously you win all the props from a biology nut!). Everyone’s talking about how amazing the animation is meanwhile I’m just having a crisis trying to figure out how the Knight has abyss shriek when the abyss can only be opened by the king’s brand… which they are fighting for. But this knight can also straight up fly with monarch wings so I guess he’s just a chad.

I loved basically everything about this. As many have pointed out you even made sure to keep The Little Knight expressionless as he should be due to lore reasons. My one nit-pick is that while the end felt super cool... he shouldn't have Abyss Shriek which is what it felt like you depicted (rather than Howling Wraiths) since you can't have it yet due to this fights reward unlocking the area you recieve it. It's just a nit-pick though. Sick animation! Loved your ways of depicting Hornet and The Little Knight's attacks while also keeping the essence of the games fight/mechanics alive!

@@brunopagnoncelli975 Whether or not the knight is an imperfect vessel depends on the ending you get. In the standard ending, you may be right (although its left ambiguous). The knight may be imperfect and may have a longing to know its past. However, the Void Heart is symbolic of the fact that the knight has become a perfect vessel by confronting its past and losing the desire it had to know its siblings and father. In the standard ending, the knight is potentially imperfect because it never confronted its past, and might only be able to seal the infection for a while before giving in. I think that's why we actually should go for the dream no more ending because if we choose to become the hollow knight, the infection's probably gonna leak as well. I mean there really aren't any signs to assure us that the knight is in fact hollow, even the White Lady wasn't sure
@@berilsevvalbekret772 He's completely hollow. Void of any kind of intention or desire. Therefore, since he sees no reason to waste his time as he was no longer being attacked, he just continues with his journey, completely ignoring her.
@@3601-c3k The failed vessel is the hollow knight. The "Hollow Knight" is a different person than "The Knight". The Hollow Knight was supposed to be hollow, except his father, the pale king, actually spent some time with him. Giving him a desire to be with his father, and therefore making him not hollow. But The Knight is the person you play as. He was raised and was sent to King's Pass. Which is a place where you lose all your memories and desires, making you hollow. The Infection, can only infect desires and feelings. Since The Hollow Knight is not hollow, using him to contain the infection didn't work. So in one of the endings, The Knight(who you play as) replaces the Hollow Knight in his position of containing the Infection. After containing the infection in a vessel, the infection can no longer grow elsewhere. There are 3 more endings, but I won't drone on about them here.
@@Inkety I know that the mc is not the hollow knight. But the birthplace cutscene clearly shows that the knight is left behind as he falls in the abyss. @@beakboi8960 I have a thing to keep you sane while waiting for Silksong. It’s Crowsworn. It’s not a Hollow Knight rip-off since they both are in the same genre. It’s almost got $1M and you should donate and get rewards
The characterization of the Knight in this scene is incredible. I love the fact that the knight is so emotionless throughout the whole thing because it doesn't have the same independent thoughts and feelings as Hornet. I like to think that at the end Hornet realises this when the Knight doesn't celebrate its victory and just carries on to the king's brand and that's why she let's it go.
Incredible animation, great job!
³ Assim foram Moisés e Arão a Faraó, e disseram-lhe: Assim diz o Senhor Deus dos hebreus: Até quando recusarás humilhar-te diante de mim? Deixa ir o meu povo para que me sirva;
⁴ Porque se ainda recusares deixar ir o meu povo, eis que trarei amanhã gafanhotos aos teus termos.
⁵ E cobrirão a face da terra, de modo que não se poderá ver a terra; e eles comerão o restante que escapou, o que vos ficou da saraiva; também comerão toda a árvore que vos cresce no campo;

Love that Hornet was on the ceiling when she was talking to the Knight, as if it is a very normal thing to be able to walk on the ceiling. Also, love the use of her spider abilities! (Namely, trapping Ghost/the Knight in webs)

I also love how the knight uses almost all of his abilities
I love how the little ghost’s eyes don’t change shape to show any emotion unlike hornet, a nice touch and looks very funny
Yeah, it would have been cool in the game aswell
It looks cute aswell
The fact Knight didn't bother killing Hornet and was expressionless all the time....gives me chillssss....
She was not an enemy though. She just wanted to test Hollow Knight (by trying to kill him, yes), but as soon as HK has proven he is stronger, this was settled. Besides, Hornet is helpful
The knight had nothing to gain from killing hornet, and also the knight is a vessel which is why it can’t have strong emotions if any at all
Yea the knight has zero emotion or care for anyone, the only reason THE HOLLOW KNIGHT isnt “hollow” is because he managed to form a father son relationship with the pale king over time.

Agreed, while playing Hollow Knight I often thought about how it would look like if it were a movie. This here perfectly embodies it!
The knight’s attacks looked pretty flashy but I know what you mean
@@Gardengap The knight's attacks were flashy, but not on purpose. Since the knight (by design) has no personality, It attacks with what it has and only does exactly what it needs to do to overcome a challenge, nothing more.
