It takes special kind of strength to pull that performance off. Thank you for making our early-childhood David Joyner. My god. And I have heard about the hot rooms, trying to stand in one place with a monitor inside a puppet suit for hours on end. Its not easy trying to make kids entertainment and making the character you portray as believable as possible.
No wonder I fell in love with Barney. Knowing that David Joyner would pray before putting on the suit makes sense as to why Barney always brought me so much peace and joy when watching it.
If we ever get a Barney reboot, I can’t think of anyone better suited for the costume performance than this man right here. David Joyner was just so iconic as Barney’s costume performer. That brother knew how to make Barney move around. I’d love for him to return for the role. Along with Bob West doing the voice again.
Or Dean Wendt because he is the present voice of Barney

THIS is what I'm talking about 💜 as someone who's loved Barney since I was a young man I've gotten to see the evolution of the character.... The thing that takes my breath away is that Mr.Joyner would put his faith first and would pray before he would even step foot in the costume... That shows me that he knew something magic would happen with such a character.... No wonder my heart would be in a deep peaceful state whenever I would watch... Thank you for allowing your spirit to guide you 🙏🏼
It's interesting to know how most suit performers would pretty much struggle to move around in the Barney suits (Those suits cannot be easy to move around in). David Joyner seems to be that one exception where he's able to give Barney that animated energy a lot of us associate him with. Every suit actor does fine on their own, but if anybody is able to move practically flawlessly in the suit, it's Joyner.
Barney the dinosaur is my childhood. Earlier this year I brought the Barney eco plushie. I had a couple of Barney toys when I was younger but my family got rid of them. I had to get back my childhood
Gosh, I remember the point when the public discovered the man inside the suit was a black man. The outrage, the hate, the anger, just so many upset people.
The same thing happened with Elmo, people were completely outraged Elmo was performed by Kevin Nash. Those were some bizarre times.
I should also note all the anger was coming from the older generation, not us children. Barney taught us to be better than that

David Joyner is amazing. He actually wished me a Happy birthday back in May. Also he likes some of my posts. Joyner did a TeeRiffic job playing the costume of Barney. It's like a perfect match him and Bob West portraying Barney. Another amazing video as always Hedge keep up the Stu-u-upendous work.
David Joyner is a major talent. So is Bob West, but even as my views on the character changed as I became an adult, I still realized that there was something about Joyner’s performance that allowed the character to be more than he otherwise might have been. And that in itself is worthy of respect.
David Joyner is a hero to us all. The soul of Barney the dinosaur! Unmatched work!

I feel like Rock with Barney was the tape that would carry on into Barney & Friends. They even did a little nod to it. It says “Barney & Friends” on the clapperboard with the epsilon ampersand “ε” in the official logo
I knew a video about David would have to be made eventually. You did a good job explaining how Joyner made Barney so iconic and energetic. Also I never noticed he had a cameo in Barney's Great Adventure lol

The pairing of David Joyner and Bob West was magical I don't think anyone could come close to the connection that those two had except for Bob's pairing with David Voss. 💜

I’ll tell you what, watching David Joyner vs someone else playing as Barney is really no comparison. I’ll often watch the Hebrew version of Barney, and seeing how the person moves around in the suit, you can tell that it’s probably difficult to work. When you watch David jump around and spin and dance, the character really becomes animated and alive.
There have been many costume performers for Barney, but I don't think anyone, not even Carey Stinson could outdo Joyner as Barney.
David Joyner is a really great body performer as Barney and I absolutely adore his work and appreciate trying to keep the spirit of Barney alive and also David Joyner as a cameo in Barney's Great Adventure the movie I was really surprised that I did not even literally see him during If All The Raindrops this is really surprising to see overall David Joyner is a number one favorite along with Carery Stinson as a tie of two.

Didn't expect a barney video for my birthday, that's besides the point David Joyner needs to be given his props cause he's underrated him and the voice Bob West was a good duo cause they both had that energy for barney. Then David went on to doing Hip Hop Harry in the 2000s. I never would have guest that David Joyner was the one guy at the restaurant scene in the movie. Good video Hedge 👍🏿

You know, I always wonder how the body performers get in the costume because I don't think it have a zipper in the back. Correct me if I'm wrong
There is an opening around the left leg, Barney is hoisted over top the performer, to which that leg opening is then covered up making it somewhat seamless
@@HedgeOnStage Oooh okay. Not gonna lie, whenever that documentary comes out, I hope they do like what they did with I Am Big Bird and show how the performer gets in the costume whether live action or animated
It's not just controlling Barney's body or moving his jaw, it's also the fact of being locked up there for a long period of time, it almost seems like there's no way out. My claustrophobia would be at its peak
Man David Joyner really is the Goat! I'm very curious about the other person who played Barney like Carey Stinson and Antwaun Steele. All I know is that Carey played Barney from Season 7-12 But Antwaun, I only heard he played the character in 1999 or 2000 Christmas Thanksgiving day parade. I hope you can give them some background of when they played the character. I heard that Antwaun or Carey would play Barney while David Was busy playing Barney in the Movie Barney's Great Adventure I don't really confirm if it's true but that's all I heard.
Edit: Forgot about Josh Martin. I'm kinda surprised about his story where Barney's mouth was on fire and he was on the costume. That's gotta be traumatizing

to me Bob and David Joyner had a working relationship unlike anyone on television, they were in sync no matter what was happening otherwise
