- In 1994, Richard Leach would create Lyrick Studios. The Lyons Group would then become "Lyons Partnership", making it a subsidiary of Lyrick Studios. Barney enters a new era.

We need a The Many Faces Of Barney: The HiT Era
A few years ago I was wondering how Barney could be w/ so many different kids. Then I figured; Wait, if Barney is a toy then means he’s been mass produced, which in turn would explain why he looks different in his toy form every so often, and why so many kids had him.
However he still has his memories from his previous forms.
There's a line from "Barney in Concert" that really makes you think: "I have to go wherever kids are using their imaginations", implying that literally ANYONE in the world who has a Barney doll can use their imagination to bring him to life right in front of them.
Great video I was lucky enough to see Big Surprise in March of 1997 I still have my tour book and ticket.
Barney can just belong to anybody these days
There's also two co production costumes that should you look at. One for the Hebrew version and one for the Korean productions.
The 1991 suit was the best, he still looked like dinosaur.

I thought there were multiple different costumes used for Barney's Great Adventure, one with the cheeks a bit more upward, one with slightly more downward cheeks, and one where the head was a bit more squashed, looking almost like the Season 3 costume.
The older designs of Barney the Dinosaur look pretty cursed, and uncanny valley! imo 😂

I worked for a PR company called Innovative Media in N Hollywood, CA, which was owned by Parvene Michaels, back in 1998. I was assigned the Barney’s Great Rock-n-Roll Adventure campaign with Lyrick Studios and we took him (the actor, the wrangler, and the voice actor) and Peebo Bryson to do a sing along at Guitar Center with kids we had gathered from the elementary school behind Guitar Center on Sunset Blvd. Then off to Cherokee Studios on Fairfax Blvd where I did an on camera interview with Barney then Peedo Bryson. The film crew we had captured B roll and the interviews as well as Peebo and Barney next to the piano singing. Then off to the Château Maramont suite we had booked for major media to interview Peebo and Barney about the new music cd, etc…Barney would be staged in the bedroom where the voice actor also had a monitor from a camera feed of the interview room. Barney would appear with full sound effect from behind the door once Peebo introduces him to the interviewer. It was a lot of fun and the actor who wore the suit had fans inside to regulate his body heat. But it still got hot! Great times!

So As a Kid I always notice Barney's eyes that we're always different every season and The Barney in Concert and the Season 1-2 Barney Costumes were different Usually Because of The Mouth.
The fix the costumes up. Seasons 1 and 2 use the same costume.

I’m kinda curious to hear the unaired versions of Season 4 episodes 14-20, along with the home video, "It's Time For Counting", with Duncan Brannan's Barney voice.

@@kermitTHEdinosaur93 maybe. I always wanted to hear Duncan Brannan's Speaking Voice on some home videos But you only get to hear him at Interviews or mostly tours. He does have speaking roles in Barney's Beach Party & My Party With Barney (Personalized DVD) Just to name a few. He did the speaking roles on My Party with Barney while Bob did the singing and it was a great duo! Tim Dever did a Great Job but I really noticed the difference in Barney's voice when Tim voiced him and It sounds even more different when Barney sings (Duncan Brannan).
I’m only just seeing this. You are amazing!!! I also noticed the blinking mechanism is season 4s big parade of number song performance. I can tell Josh Martin loves telling that story. I’m surprised you haven’t mentioned the press costumes like the ones from 1992 to 95 unless I missed it.

Would love to see you do more evolution videos of Barney's other friends like BJ,Baby Bop,and even Riff from the HiT entertainment era they have a long history of how they've looked in the franchise than Barney himself or better yet a where are they now video of the kids from the show and movies

The Lyrick Studios era and I have done research has like a few researches on Barney's Great Adventure the movie which is a movie that I have to like even though it's the first theatrical release in the franchise and it was a box office bomb. ( and it makes me wondering if you like Barney's Great Adventure or you think it's decent)
As well as on the reason as to why that it went in Smoke on the Barney costume itself. Thank God that Josh Martin didn't lost his life during that incident.
I am absolutely surprised that Duncan Brannan doing the voice of him in season 4 before Bob West rerecord some of his lines of dialogue.
I will be looking forward to the HIT Entertainment era history of the Barney costumes because I remember that when I was a kid watching it on PBS Kids as well as on sprouts and I don't mind for Dean Wendt of his nasal tone of voice even though I can understand that some people don't like it as much.

I realize Dean is not that bad I feel like Tim dever voice is like annoying like earlier seasons of Dean season 7 and 8 are good season 9 I was just confused they was switching between two costume the one from season 7 an the one from season 9

Blue Barney and magenta barney are different Because one is darker and one is Light But my Favorite is All of Them because the Purple green yellow and it Is Mg

Personally, I never liked the intro for seasons 4 and onward of 'Barney & Friends.' I prefer the intro for seasons 1 through 3 with the white background. Thank you for showing appreciation for the performers in the Barney costume; I thought that was really cool and I never knew that story about Barney being on fire.
Seasons 1-3 and the Backyard Gang have the classic music i vibe with most so I’m with on that one 100% sjdjdj
@@HedgeOnStage Omg yes! I love the music for the earlier theme song. I hate how they kept on changing the theme song over the years by making the graphics more colorful and adding children laughing (stuff like that). I don't know, I've always like the intro for seasons 1-3 better and when I was watching the earlier seasons as an adult, I was like, "why didn't they keep the intro like that?" Then the creators turned the theme song into a rap for the last season, so I hated that.

What I'd like to know is where is the original Barney in the backyard game is backyard game studio costume today. Imagine getting your hands on the original suit? I would love to wear that to a convention.
The original costume was made of raw foam and spray painted. Bits and pieces would be used to create the costume from 1990, but the original was ultimately destroyed not long after the Backyard Gang finished its final tapes. The costume was not durable enough to hold up any longer and fell apart.

I still have my VHS tapes of The backyard Show starting Sandy Duncan, and was recently reunited with Day the beach. It was in my grandparents basement with a box of other tapes.
So are there any clips of Duncan's Barney talking while filming? Since you said Duncan only voiced Barney in filming then Bob returned to dub over the lines. And I also have another question, Why did they not allow Duncan Brannan to do the barney talking and let Tim do it?
Brannon voiced Barney in Home Videos like Be My Valentine, Barney’s House, etc. Dever mostly contributed to Barney’s singing voice.
@@HedgeOnStage I thought Dever was the talking cuz I know what Duncan's Voice is like it's a high pitch voice and he only voices barney when he sings but Dever I only know he did the singing in Barney's Christmas Star 2002 which was the preview of season 7 Barney suit and the last time Dever will voice Barney. But I just want to know why Is Duncan not the talking
@@HedgeOnStage Duncan Voiced Barney many times before Tim like Bob West But Duncan's role was just doing Barney's Singing voice and I want to find the reason why he wasn't the talking. Tim has a low pitch voice which that's How I Hear and see Barney very weird But I just love Duncan's Voice!
oh whoops my bad I got them mixed up. Yes Dever does dialogue, Brannon does the singing. The only real guess is that either Dever isn’t much of a singer, or his singing in Barney’s inflection wasn’t as great so they gave that to Brannon.
the change I disliked the most in modern Barney was his eyes. Like... I know they're all plastic but the new ones were static and so empty. I remember classic Barney had this twinkle that gave him such an expressive look, sometimes I forgot it was just plastic
EXACTLY! We all know Barney has a relatively inexpressive mouth, they could’ve made up for that by playing with his eyes and experiment with different technologies.

I know that the dolls of the first two parts of the Lyrick Era are the same, but could you please do the dolls of this Era? I think the movie doll looked different from the first two parts of said Era. And take as much time as you need. I know you're probably busy with work and all that stuff.
i plan to do that after reviewing the three seasons of Lyrick.
The doll used in the movie was a standard plush doll available in stores, partially due to the Studio Doll itself still being utilized for the TV series being filmed concurrently
