- Onward! One of the first movies to struggle because of 2020 just pummeling us into the ground repeatedly. But some people still put a lot of work into it and it was more enjoyable than I expected. Here's everything right with Onward!

I appreciate a movie in which the older of two brothers, doesn't bully his younger sibling but actively encourage and help him.
Makes me feel bad about being the older sibling😳
I'm the younger and I used to get bullied
He is my ideal model as an older sibling
Yeah, I wish I was that good of a brother
the older sibling is also not jealous of his younger sibling's gift
Some of my favorite details you didn't point out are:
1. When Ian is nervous to talk to his classmates, they don't make fun of him or anything; in fact, they're totally down to go to his party. He gets in his own way, which is exactly what social anxiety is like.
2. When the rope falls off of Ian, Barley almost starts crying.
3. Bronco is never an 'evil stepfather'. Throughout the movie, you can see that he genuinely cares for Laurel and the boys.
4. I adore the message that Barley stands for; never forget the past, because you can learn from it.
At the bridge part I really loved that even though it was really hard for barley, he kept telling ian to move forward because he knew it was his best chance at making it and believed in him
I loved that first detail (being painfully socially awkward myself) it was super inspiring

I loved those details. I'm kinda tired of the awkward student being rejected by his pair because it's always use in a lazy way. Here it was refreshing and it felt real.
Same with Bronco. As much as I would've like to see a little bit more of his relationship with Laurel, I appreciated that he was not an evil stepfather of any sorts. When the boys pretended to be him and the other police officers thought he wad nervous because of his new fatherhood, I was ready to believe that the real Bronco really felt like that.
Also, yeah, the rope thing was full of emotions.

I cried like three times during this movie, and one of them was because of that second point with Barley and the rope 💀
One thing you forgot: Barely is revolutionary for another reason, namely *him actually crying when he dropped that rope because he was so worried* and we are ALL for men being able to both be masculine and being able to express feelings like genuine terror
I'll always think that Barley is criminally misunderstood, underrated and a character as wonderful as Ian ✨💙

That scene further exemplifies Barley role as Ian's father figure because of it's similarities to a parent teaching a child how to ride a bike

I sincerely enjoyed how the step dad wasnt evils or a bad guy. He only tried to stop the boys because their mom was worried and he seemed to genuinely care for them. It was also nice to see the mom not just be absent for an entire adventure and take a more active useful role.
Another great animated stepdad: King Harrow from the Netflix show The Dragon Prince. He's a bit distant from his stepson, but genuinely does love and care for him.

@@haveagoodmourning And it was even more heartbreakingly beautiful finding out why Harrow was distant from Callum. He'd always wanted to be close to him, he was just trying to respect Callum's biological father's memory. I also like that while Soren served as a reminder of that sore point by constantly calling him "step-prince" and everything, Ezran kept encouraging him to refer to Harrow as dad and to reach out to him. It just added to the emotional weight.

One thing I noticed is that their mom yells to Barley to "keep his soldiers off her land, or their kingdoms will go to war" referring to a figure he left on the hallway floor. Rather than being disapproving or calling him childish, she communicates to him on his level, allowing him to understand exactly what she meant, and sounding more supportive.
As someone who lost my mother as an infant, the "I've never had a dad... But I've always had you" hit me like a freight train at 120 miles per hour.

Definitely Not Tommy Wiseau, agreed. You got to give credit to them. That’s a problem I had with Beauty and the Beast LA. I saw Hermione Granger, not Belle and even if I’m just listening to the movie and not watching, I hear Hermione. Holland and Pratt definitely deserved a lot of credit especially given the fact they play 2 very iconic characters
Absolutely agree. That being said, when Guardians 3 comes out, I FULLY expect "Bye bye lil' Sebastian" to make an appearance. For old time's sake.

Until this video I forgot that they played the characters at all. I only watched the film for the first time a few days ago
One subtlety I really liked is how when Ian is trying to invite the other students to a party they dodged the cliche of the other kids backing away from Ian because ‘Barley is weird‘. They instead they just had Ian be embarrassed and abandon his effort because he anticipated this very thing from them.
I like that too! The bunch of kids are never mean to him, they actually seem friendly. Not to mention how diverse that friend group is...

@@bi_cycle I loved that group. The troll using mobility assistance (I use a cane). The Afro-American coded elf girl. And the Cyclops boy with braces and a rainbow pin.
And they didn't seem to be the 'mean kids' stereotype.

The director was Ian in real life, right down to talking to old recordings of his own dad which is why they put it in the movie. The thing is, he never told his brother what he was working on and when he showed him the completed movie apparently his brother got pretty emotional
adding the voice tape of his dada. The director also had a tape where his dad supposedly spoke in, but the entire tape was people going on about where he was, it wasn't until very last moment the dad shows up and he literally just says "hi" and "bye"

I'm surprised you didn't mention that when Barley was acting out what he thinks the top half of the dad's dancing looked like, that there was the symbolism of Barley acting as Ian's dad

Fun little extra, in the beginning when Ian is walking into school one of the two girls on our left signs to her friend that she thinks Ian is cute

One thing I noticed at the end was that Barley had a phoenix on the back of his jacket, so Ian was looking for the Phoenix Gem to talk to his father when he had one all along in Barley. Great foreshadowing :)

I would pay so much money for an Avengers film where they’re just bonding together over a D&D session, with characters like Captain America and Wanda being the new adventurers and Tony Stark being the surprise D&D nut of the group (I know about Endgame, but in this case, damn continuity!).
I'd argue that Onward actually deals with the living cope with the loss of a loved one better, and Coco is more focused on remembering your loved ones without holding on to resentment and preventing it from connecting with your current ones. That sentence got real clunky at the end, but what I think I mean is that I actually think this movie deals with death better than Coco did. I felt Coco was more about being true to yourself as a central theme.
Coco dealt with remembrance, Onward dealt with moving forward (or, ahem, onward).
I think both movies talk sorta about different subjects but I still love both of them equally.

Okay, I'm kind of annoyed it took me THIS long to realize the "You Shall Not Pass" sign is their version of "No Passing Zone".
BTW, watching this video made me watch the movie again and I noticed another bit about Barley being the Dad version of Older Brother: when the trap had filled with water and the top door finally opened, Barley grabbed Ian and pushed him to the surface FIRST. Only then did he surface himself. That is very much a parent thing to do.
Exactly! I see myself in him a lot because of his protective and empathic behavior (I'm not a parent, but I've always had this way of doing it, since I was a kid)... besides, he also did it in the room when his father appeared! Barley is as wonderful a character as Ian, in my opinion ✨💙
I agree that that's a parent thing to do, but it's also an older sibling thing to do, especially if you're the oldest.
When you grow up being told to take care of your younger siblings and getting is massive trouble if you don't, you quickly learn to just do it. Responsibility is forced upon you whether you want it or not, so it becomes a habit. It's for the best and in your own self interests.
It's awesome when the older sibling does these things out of genuine concern and care.
@@Pip8448 I totally agree. I was actually in such a situation when my brother was going to drown when we were swimming in a lake and he got tired. I very literally almost drowned pushing him up above water and probably would have if there wasn't a kid with an inner tube close enough to help. I'm five years older than my brother and eleven years older than my sister, and I can say with confidence that protecting them becomes second nature pretty quickly. I kind of watched this movie as a spectator so it didn't hit me in the feels as strongly as it could have, but afterwards I have to say I can relate to Barley.
As someone who’s main father figure was their older brother this movie BROKE me I cried for like the last half hour

I watched this movie as a “field trip” we took our preschool to. While all the kids were excited and laughing at the movie I was quietly balling in the corner. This movie is truly a masterpiece for the young adults coming from a broken home.
Definitely dude. As an older brother who's become a father figure/ male role model for my brother it definitely hit pretty hard
I think that the animation is great and the inside jokes are really cool to catch but the movie is filled with tropes and overused story concepts. I just really can’t enjoy it because of this
CoolEgg I understand that, usually I used to be the same. Something about working with kids turned me into such an optimist, I guess they challenge your view points. Now it’s much easier for me to chose to stop analyzing movies and focus more on the emotions they expect you to feel. I can still analyze a movie pretty hard but I’ve learned to enjoy movies that aren’t meant to be challenges of the form as what they are, movies.
Ryan Luft That is exactly how I view it. I can easily nitpick almost any movie for its flaws, but I choose to look past them and enjoy a movie’s beauty (when possible, of course). Pixar’s Up is my favorite example of this. Even for a fantasy, the movie pushes some of it physics way too far (Carl's ability to hold down his house bugs me), but when you ignore that, you get a gem. And that's what watching movies is really about. Enjoying them. I still hate excuses for movies that undermine the viewers and throw nonsense at them, but I think you get what I'm trying to say.

I can't be the only one who absolutely loves the Cinema Wins guy. He compliments the movies amazingly, unlike cinema sins who just ridicules movies for dumb reasons. Cinema Wins seems like the kind of guy to stop on his way to an important meeting to pet a kitten and help caterpillers get back on their leaves. I want to be their friend so badly ❤❤❤. Love you, dude!
He is SUCH a GREAT GUY!! You can tell he genuinely tries to review the movies honestly, even though the goal is to be positive, he still knocks off points for genuinely bad moments.

@@royalheadquarters8449 main difference is that cinemawins praises the movie constantly and points out great details and cinemasins is mostly satirical, however cinemasins does give some good points and praises the movie where its obvious or just great

A close friend of mine lost his father in a car accident last year. He and his brother went to go watch Onward before theaters got shut down and said they were happy they saw it.

my thoughts and prayers go to him. Let him RIP. With that said, i agree with Scahfrillas that this film is complete garbage and a disgrace to pixar and i would rather watch CARS 2 on loop. (ok Schfrillas wasn't as harsh as me. he thoughbt it was bland but i despised the film) and the LGBTQ+ Cop scene is one of the most offencive scenes i ever seen and i watch south park. thats saying something. Love Simion, Call me By your name, ect are way better representation. Even finding dory did a better job with the brief scene they were given.

One thing I love about this movie is that Barley is never jealous of his brother when he gets his magic. He’s just so happy and supportive of him.

it hurts me that this movie didn’t get the love it deserves. The ending is unexpected yet touching. def one of Pixar’s bests in my opinions. ( Barley honestly just own my heart🥺)
When I first watched this with my girls I pretended to cry at Gwinivere being sacrificed then I actually started crying. He was sooo proud of that van... stupid movie making me cry over a stupid cartoon van 🤣
2016 Antman made people cry over an Ant, A fudging ANT so by this point crying over a van is fine

I like that this didn’t show the dad physically and only in flashbacks.
But only briefly in appearance at the end.
it was the typical movie cliche of "this is what we want you to think the movie is about but then really isn't" but done right!
All of this movie could've gone down the typical movie trope route but then it just doesn't. We get the moments like in the tunnel and they are very real moments, and then it comes full circle in the end.

im glad that you saw good in it. I thought of it as lazy writing. I hated the movie, but despised ther ending, and i mean DESPISED the ending so much. the dragon was NOT FUNNY and just a waste. A Better ending would've been If Ian backstabbed Barley and turned into the films twist villan and the whole 24 hour thing was a revenge plot\. but TIJMO
@@Evanedits191 That would have been a horrible ending!! That would throw away all of the foreshadowing, themes, message, etc. That would be bad in terms of storytelling. The ending they had was good because it emphasized their message about Ian and Barley (and is beautiful) and it fits well with the rest of the film. Yours comes out of no where and isn't believable (does not fit the characters). That's not good storytelling, though we all have a right to our own opinions.

I think my favourite part of the movie was when Ian was walking through the invisible bridge without the rope while Barley with tears in his eyes told him to keep going and not to look back. It just showed how amazing their relationship is and it really shows how a non-toxic sibling relationship works. So cute...

I definitely ugly cried during this movie. Having had a dad that got very sick this movie was really powerful for me.
I did too, I have a brother who was my dad stand in so this movie it really mattered for me, cause my dad's not around anymore either, i'm hoping once this blows over he and i can get together and watch the movie together (we've both seen it, but seeing it with him would be cool)
This concept I'm 100% behind because i've been there and I would do anything for that 24 hours
Oh man, yeah... my dad died quite a few years ago after a week and a half in the hospital after having a stroke and BOY HOWDY did I unexpectedly sob at this movie. Wooooo boy.
My mom was very sick. When Barley admitted that was he was afraid of going to the hospital to say goodbye to his dad. I had that exact feeling with my mom.
I didn't go through the sick parent part but being a father with a daughter it still hit home. Especially when I considered my younger siblings as well.

Personally, I think Onward is extremely underrated. It actually did what Frozen got praised for, let alone better.

Both movies were great. Onward was about brotherly love, F2 was about sisterly love. The dead mother/father they were trying to find was right by their side all along.
@@MisterMooo I think Onward is better. Ian and Barley actually spend time together, while Elsa and Anna really don't. Even strictly in the film's timeline, Elsa and Anna only have a couple scenes together whereas Ian and Barley spend the majority of the film together, making their bond more believable imo

The best part is this movie is literally a love letter to the directors brother, you can tell with how much heart is put into this movie that the director really really cares about his brother and is able to share his love letter with those who have similar experiences.
Even more: Dan Scanlon was also one of the 3 writers
One thing I thought was amazing about this movie is that everything in this movie had consequences. If the main characters did something, they'd experience the effects of it or it would ripple off to the side characters.
I finally watched this movie the other day and I'm not gonna lie, it made me freaking CRY. HARD. I got teary-eyed when Barely had to give up Gwinivere, and I was fully on sobbing by the time we got to the 3rd act and Ian realized that Barely wasn't JUST his older brother. I love their relationship so much and I loved their mom's relationship with both of them.
My husband cried when hearing Barley talk about seeing his dad in the hospital because it hit so close to home. So we have differing opinions on the coco vs onward debate but I'm glad that this movie was made to show there isn't just one way or even a right way of dealing with loss and grief
As the eldest sibling of 4 that lost a parent this film really resonated with me, even brough a tear to this 27yr old eye

My siblings and I each had very emotional responses to this movie, watched it separately all living in different cities.
As the baby of the family, older siblings are often the unsung heroes of society. So much of my confidence and happiness in life was made possible through their influence. ♥️
I really wish more people will give this film a chance. Also that teaser image, I KNOW YOU’RE OUT THERE, AND I KNOW YOU’RE REAL.

That moment made me think a lot about my relationship with my younger sister. Thanks to this and that one arc in Demon Slayer with Upper Moon Six, we now are hearing and talking more to each other, and stop fighting over literally anything.
Same, I thought it's about not dwelling on the past, didn't see that coming.
I genuinely think there should've been a win for "You'll never be ready, merge!" For being great advice not just for learning to drive but for many things in life.
"Onward's biggest problem is that it's a Pixar movie, whch means it will be compared to other Pixar movies." Yeah, and it blows most of them out of the water. Even though you enjoyed it, you're still not giving it enough credit (obviously, this is only my opinion). I would argue Guinever's sacrifice, Ian's realization at the list, and Barley's hug to Ian were all emtionally impactful in ways I can't even begin to explain.
Onward is great on it's own merits, and even though it was just released eight months ago, it's probably Pixar's most underrated film. It's also, plainly, one of it's best.
This sibling relationship is a million times better than Frozen's.

Chris Pratt and Tom Holland, the dynamic duo. Glad they got them both together for this. I definitely cried during this movie, it was so emotional.

I’ve seen people keep saying Barley should have been voiced by Jack Black. I’m not saying there totally wrong that would’ve been a good role for him but I think Chris Pratt worked just as good.

What I love most about this movie: NO BULLYING. Ian isn't bullied by anyone in this movie. His awkwardness is purely from his own insecurity and not from anyone causing him to feel less-than. Also, I LOVE that Barley is fully supportive of his little brother. When it's revealed Ian has magic and not him, Barley isn't jealous, envious or resentful. He's just truly happy that Ian has magic.
I will say though, that it did disappoint me that Ian never got to meet their dad. I just wish so much that their dad could have seen Ian, put a hand on his shoulder or given him a big hug and then smiled before disappearing again. I know that wasn't the point of the movie, but still.
What I thought was cool about this movie; characters are clearly coded as people of color even though they're not human, and the tall cop being a lesbian is just a matter-of-fact thing. THAT'S how you do representation, not by emphasizing the 'otherness' of someone (because that always slips into being stereotypical) but just having them in the story.
I loved loved loved this movie. I liked that we didn’t see the dad because ultimately that wasn’t Ian’s journey but Barleys. And I firmly believe that we’re it not for the pandemic this would have had a truly solid box office showing.
I loved this movie. I really did. It might not have been “Pixar’s best,” but gosh darn it I loved the message and the characters and the dynamics between them all. It all feels so real.
Also, the next one is totally Sonic. I’d recognize any scene from it.
I definitely feel like Pixar has been put on too high of a pedestal at times that has made some people cynical if the film isn't Up or Wall-E or Toy Story 3. None of Pixar's films are necessarily objectively bad (Cars 2 is still a fun ride and Good Dinosaur is gorgeous to watch), but we can't expect masterpieces out of them 24/7 because then that ruins the fun of the movies themselves.
Look at DreamWorks. They are on no pedestal and have some laughably not great films (Trolls & Boss Baby), BUT they also have Kung Fu Panda, Shrek (1, 2, & 4...3 never happened...), Dragons, and more that are absolutely amazing, rivaling some of Pixar's best. We enjoy the films they make for entertainment first and not grands works of art.
Also side note: everyone said Onward reminded people of DreamWorks...which is not a bad thing. Look up Shrek 2's I need a hero if you're not convinced lol

@@moonb30838 Maybe it's just me projecting (my apologies), I personally found Trolls to be loud and uninspired. Great animation, but the plot was meh, the characters weren't all that interesting, and the humor feels like it's appealing to toddlers (one of the opening jokes is a naked glitter troll farting glitter and everyone loving it). It felt like it just wanted to have a cash crop than an actual story. Again it could just be me

I agree. The interactions between Barely and Ian feel more genuine to me than many other movies. Also, I hope you are right with Sonic, I loved that movie, though there are a few plot holes and loose ends. It's just a fun movie.
The 1ST time I saw the trailer for this movie, I knew I wanted to see it in theaters. My friend got the chance to see it in theaters & told me she cried, which given that I actually teared up in not 1 but 2 different moments in the trailer ("I'm gonna meet Dad?" & when Dad's foot finds Ian's foot & Ian responds "Hi") I expected. Then I watched it, & because I didn't want my little sister to see me cry, I held it in. Then my little sister was sobbing, & that was it for me. I managed to make her feel better by talking about her memories of our dad, & had her laughing by the time we went to bed. But yeah, Onward made my whole family cry (except my other sister, who was w/ a friend).

This is one of my favourite movies
I really liked it, but it’ll be a while before I have the emotional strength to watch it again.
Regarding it not feeling like Pixar, it’s in this weird middle ground for me. The heart of it reminded me a lot of Big Hero Six (the brother relationship, the mom is a lot like Aunt Cass, etc) which isn’t Pixar.
But I often find myself having to stop and remember if Big Hero Six was Pixar or not. Same with Brave. They, along with Onward, feel like they exist in this middle ground between typical Disney animation and Pixar animation;
And I kind of love that middle ground.
I loved the message that barley was like a dad to him, the ending made me cry.
When I was watching this in the theater with my dnd group when Barley sent Gwenevere to her doom, me and one of the players were saluting before Barley was shown on screen because we know how important a players mount is to them
I'm a player and I, too, saluted the majestic mount when she went to her death.
Also called the spell range for Aloft Elevar before Barley even mentioned it, was so proud of myself. :D
I lost my brother when I was 16. This movie hit me right it the feels. I was weeping at the end, my wife had to hold me haha. I absolutely loved this movie. A movie about brothers being there for you is awesome.
To be honest, this movie is in Pixar's Top 10 for me. It's heartwarming, charming, and all in all just a wonderful film.

Barley was the reason this movie was so great! The second Disney rolled out a promo for this movie and I saw Barley's face, I was in love. I was DYING to see the movie. The day the movie came out, I had to go see it. And I saw it FOUR times. And I absolutely loved Barley sooooooooooooo much!!!! I loved his appearance and his personality, and the way he treated his brother so well.
Honestly, this was the first animated movie I'd ever cried at. The relationship between the brothers was perfectly able to capture what I've been lucky to have with my older brother. When he realizes how valuable his older brother has been in his life, it legitimately made me call my brother and we just talked for a few hours about life. Worth it.
“Oh right, what I’m saying doesn’t make sense I just wanted to talk about Drive...” That was the best subtle diss at Cinemasins ever (I could be wrong about this but my reasoning is because Cinemasins tends to diss movies for things that don’t have anything to do with the movie by talking about a different movie).
Years ago when I watched Cinemasins it was funny to me but ever since then, discovering Cinema Wins made me realise how needlessly picky Cinema Sins is, and now I can longer stand watching it.
But hey, that’s alright, because I love Cinema Wins.

Yeah, even if Soul is just as good, it’s not really gonna change my opinion on Onward.
As someone who was both raised as a younger brother and raised myself younger brothers (I never lost my parents…they just weren’t there for us as they should’ve.) this movie hits hard in so many ways
My favorite thing about this movie is the lack of stereotypes. The older brother isn't stereotypically bullying the younger one. The mother isn't overbearing. The step father isn't the bad guy. Etc etc

The one problem I had with it was that the conflict between Ian and Barley felt a bit forced at times. That being said, how quickly they switched from conflict to supporting each other is truly reminiscent of the relationship I have with my brother, and honestly all I wanted to do after watching it was hug my brother.
I freaking damn loved this movie.
The creativity that was balanced with the incredibly consistently strong bond between Ian and Barley makes this film such a wonderful experience to watch.
The ending I cry everytime and as someone who last a major father figure in my life, it's even more heartbreaking.
Fun head canon fact: The location of the getting on the freeway scene reminds me (visually and in terms of craziness) about the one on ramp to get on the freeway to San Francisco in Emeryville right outside of Pixar studios 😂 I recognized it the second I saw it (hate that on ramp) so if it is meant to be that way then cool!

Edit: Apparently, the sequels are done for the forseeable future. Nice to hear, I hadn't realized. "On July 3, 2016, Pixar president Jim Morris announced that after Toy Story 4, there are no plans for further sequels, and Pixar is only developing original ideas with five films in development (including Soul)."
I hate to break it to ya chief but uh...Pixar announced a film called Lightyear back in December, which of course will focus on the origins of Buzz Lightyear...did I mentioned he's gonna be voiced by Chris Evans?

Fantastic review! I loved this film to pieces. As a complete aside, I'm glad that you used the "last name 'Manticore,' first name 'The'" clip. It's, in my opinion, an oft-overlooked line that cracks me up every time I hear it.
This movie was literally made for D&D nerds. Seriously, there's even a version of the game made for the story that Barley almost obsesses over. My group of friends who all play D&D watched this together and were laughing and having a blast at every single thing we could catch that was a D&D reference. Heck, where do you think Gelatinous Cube as a monster came from? Plus it was so fun guessing every character's potential class.
Loving the theme of soul crushing animated films these days. We've always been told that we can achieve our dreams but we rarely get movies that teach us what it's like when we can't. I love this film simply because of its fantastic premise

Another good thing you forgot: Bronco is not an evil step-parent. He tries to stop Ian and Barley, because he’s doing his job as a police officer.
As the younger brother by 10 years to the older brother, the scene when Ian checks off his list absolutely made me bawl. Easily my most emotional reaction to a movie ever, since it is one of the most relatable and honest movies I've ever seen. Love you Alex ❤

You know, every time I see pictures of him (or the very few with him), and I hear about him and how he didn't want to die to see me grow up, I really feel like crying too... and just thinking about what I think is a flashback of his face makes me cry 😥💔 I'm really curious to know what are the flaws that you think this movie has, because I honestly don't see any (I'll tell you, at first maybe I thought it had flaws, but then, seeing it again and examining it, I answered everything that seemed to be "flaws"... you know, of almost no movie I think it has no flaws, not even the ones that I love the most, but I seriously believe that Onward is one of these exceptions) 💙👍🏻 My Top movies is a bit peculiar, that's because I've so many parities that in my movies ranking, I don't go beyond 8th place (and I've seen really a lot of movies)! Onward took me as almost no movie has ever made before, indeed, if Coco hadn't come out, it would have been my favourite movie ever! But anyway it's really important for me, really different in importance from the other movies just below it (which, anyway, are very important for me)... it's really 10++ for me! ✨💜 I agree with the animation, the climax, that one moment and the jokes, but I don't think it's forgettable at all (on the contrary, already from the first vision I remembered almost everything, and this is rare to happen), moreover I think Chris Pratt is perfect for Barley (he gives him the right doses of exaggeration and fragility, both characteristics that the character has), but I would have liked Jack Black too, and finally the thing about the centaur getting into the car you've to consider it as a metaphor and a symbol: You understand very well that machines are only suitable for creatures like elves and the like, while for the others it's not so, and we see it from fact as then, each creature, starts moving again with its own "means" (the wings for the spirits and the Manticore, and the body for the centaur)... the fact that they show that a centaur gets into a car and some spirits use motorbikes, they do it not only for the comedy in itself, but also and above all to trace the fact of how those creatures have lost their inner magic by completely subjecting themselves to technology... so to me that's not a flaw at all, on the contrary 😉👍🏻 But now I'm really curious to know what are your favourite movies ever! 😊💕

I'm glad that now that scene doesn't bother you anymore, since it's not even really as senseless as it might seem if you look at it metaphorically 😊 You know, I actually agree with what you said about your favourite movie ever (indeed, I find also that song suitable at that time, but here really are tastes, in the end), but I don't know, I find it a little overrated just because it's visually unique and because it's a different Spiderman than usual... that's, I like it so much anyway eh (I give it an 8.5), but I don't know, for me there are movies that dare more, that are more emotionally intense, that are deeper in the themes, with a mix of realism and magic, more complete, with a bigger premise, and I sincerely prefer this kind of movies, which make you reflect, help you in your life, and that don't focus everything on originality (for me, it doesn't necessarily make a big movie, and vice versa, although such cases there can always be, of course... as a rule, I prefer the substance and the "how" on the surface, but here, again, are tastes)... said this, it's great that your favourite movie is an Animated movie, they're so misunderstood and underrated! This is one of my all-time favorite Pixar films. Fantastic.
I actually adored this movie and it had me crying like a baby. I liked it so much more than the rest of my family did, which was surprising to me cause I learned that it seemed like no one liked it as much as me😅
I thought it was great.
This movie was honestly spectacular to me. As an older brother myself who loves fantasy, I really loved the character of Barley. And the way they presented the modern-fantasy d&dish world made me just want to see more and more
This movie made me cry twice. Once during the scene where Ian practices talking to his dad (losing my dad at 7 made me connect with Ian on a personal level in that scene) and of course the scene where Barley hugs Ian. Easily my favorite Pixar movie!
I love how this movie can speak to anyone. It can speak to siblings. It can speak to parents, it can speak to children. I personally saw it with my dad, and for me the movie hit home about what I would do if I lost him, but had the chance to see him one more time.
However my boyfriend and his brother are almost literally the human version of Ian and Barley, so for them is was all about their bond.
As a son who just lost a father, this movie really made me feel all the emotions
