@@Kiwi-ph7xsSome people have trouble expressing their thoughts in resumed ways, and sometimes end up taking a little too long to explain themsekves with all the details. I know how it is, I have it sometimes as well.
I love it when movies have siblings who end up getting along in the end! I can relate to that, As a younger sibling my older brother hated me throughout his middle school and the first year of high school- but this was because his school environment sucked and he took out his stress on me (by accident) but when he switched to a better school and started maturing, he’s become one of the best brothers anyone could have Basically what I’m getting at is: Sometimes you/they just gotta get older and hopefully in a better place, and if all goes well the years of arguing and bickering will be healed relatively quickly! Also compromise, try to find a different outlet for stress then your younger sibling, and don’t lose/break your older siblings stuff....
My brother is only two years younger then me and with him it's actually the other way around. We were close as kids and we had a great time playing together (of course we had conflict too, also while playing)but today that we are adults we are very distant (not that we hate each other) and that connection we had is gone.
I've watched this movie four times this week. One of those slow burn, this movie gets better with each subsequent rewatch films for me. One thing I like is how Bruce Willis just exists in Bianca's world, as if she watched Die Hard once and couldn't understand any of it, so she just thinks he's a weird homeless guy who lives in air vents. I love it.
Rex:This is all happening inside the imagination of an adolescent. Me:Their becoming self aware. We gotta get rid of all our Legos before they take over the World.
“Everything Great about The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” Lmao I wonder if anyone went looking for “Everything Great about The LEGO Movie 2: The First Part”
This movie has probably one of the saddest villain stories in any animated film. The beloved protagonist, left to rot for years in a dark and isolated area, with nothing but his negative thoughts, watching as the people he loved so dearly be celebrating, unawares of his desperate cries for help. He goes completely mad from a combination of feelings of betrayal and the scathing words from the people who he was once willing to die for. Then, in the end, he doesn't get a chance of redemption. He's the only Lego Movie villain to not survive, frankly, the one who deserved to live the most out of all of them.
But don't you think, in the end, Rex was happy? Not for himself, for Emmet. Emmet was going to live a life where he didn't have to handle that trauma, where he got to stick with his friends. I think, at least a little bit, Rex was relieved that Emmet would live a different path than him.
Rex is literally Emmet from the futurr when he became traumatized and left by his friends. So, when that future altered, Rex technically didn't died. Emmet just not ended up becoming him.
I was so sad nobody liked the movie for some reason :( It was a fantastic musical adventure with tons of insane jokes, great music, stunning visuals and touching moments!
I watched this movie, as a near-20-year old Aussie bloke, with a bunch of my mates in the cinema, and we all sat there crying like babies thinking of all the times we didn't play with our little sisters when we could have as kids. This move gets me. Every. Single. Time. Magnificent in its entirety and no one will change my mind.
Also I need to mention how this movie was the perfect movie for someone my age, who watched the Lego movie as a mid teen, to then as a young adult look back and think about how I could have grown up better, and that as a kid I thought everything would be awesome, but sometimes it isn't, and we can be okay with that, and man this movie just gets into my soul. I just needed to share my thoughts with the internet about this. I'm not alone, right? Right?
being an older brother this movie really hit home, I completely understand finn's reasoning to not want to play with Bianca. But at the same time knowing why hes wrong
I remember when my mother had watched this movie, she said it reminded her of me and my older brother. Upon rewatching now that I'm older, I can see what she meant by that and I cannot agree more. And I now treasure those moments since it rarely happens we play or do something together.
I have four other sisters trust me when I say that all they want is to hang and be like you and they most likely look up to you. About five years ago my youngest sister had never even had an interest in art but when I started tracing she started to trace to. I grew out of it but man did she flourish I’m proud to see her growth! Siblings young or old will annoy the hell out of you but don’t push them away to much and always. Always! Encourage them to keep trying even if their beginnings is just a few scribbles 😊
12:33: Another reason for Rex's bitterness, cynism, and lack of concern for... Lego Minifigure life? Cause he found out he was a child's toy and his adventures were the product of its' imagination. Well, if you found out you were merely a random plastic product for a higher being's casual whims you'd lose your hope and innocence too.
The LEGO Movies would probably be a cosmic horror story in a wildly different context. If one lived in a dystopian society, fought to prevent the government from unleashing a chemical on its unsuspecting and supportive citizens, and realized their entire reality was dictated by gods playing with toys-and that not only are they just another plaything in the hands of a child deity, but that the government’s powerful artifacts from that dimension are mundane to these all-powerful beings-it would be a frigid revelation.
Finally watched this film tonight and just about broke into tears when the queen’s origin was revealed. I don’t know why but stories about kids and especially siblings always make me emotional in a way stories about adults rarely do. And dammit this whole movie being a metaphor for an older sibling being possessive of their stuff while their younger sibling just wants to play with them is too wholesome and pure and dammit why are these movies so good???
@@Kadeo64 I avoid all things chocolate for the simple reason that anything with caffeine in it gives me a migraine. Which also means I can't drink green tea. Or any kind of tea that isn't strictly herbal and therefore technically not tea. Thank goodness for carob chips and raisins!
I like it that even though Emmet managed to Masterbuild an entire war machine in the last movie, he still has the same abilities but doesn't use them as if they are useless which makes way for Masterbreaking to be introduced.
Patience Wallace like any backstory like this, imagine being trapped in a small location watching life unfold without you, with no one even seemingly looking for you. After a few years of that you’d at the very least be bitter. And Emmett never stopped being pure, he just stopped believing others cared about him. The fact that his mission was simply to save himself from being hurt shows to me that he never stopped being Emmett deep down. He could never stop caring. The point where he crossed a line was when he threw himself under the dryer, but again he thought it was for the best.
Something I'd like to point out is that LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is that it was released about 5 years after the first, making the canon timeline very similar to the real-world one, and that the timing with the ages of the potential main audiences was well-designed, considering that many children likely watched the first and were likely maturing pre-teens- or even teenagers- by the second, making the movie's themes likely even more relevant.
My favorite thing about this movie is how many plot reveals/twists/surprises there are. (Emmet’s visions of the future, who Rex really is, the Queen’s original form, etc.) They even tie up some loose ends from the first movie. Like Lucy’s back story, for example.
Lord Business, being the Dad IRL, leaving as soon as the kids were fighting and returning as soon as they calmed down, seemed like such a Dad thing to do!
I had totally realized that Rex was Chris Prat, but I had forgotten that Emmet was done by Chris Prat, so I didn’t pick it up as early as I should have.
There's still hope. LEGO can go back to Warner Bros, it's a five year deal. We just got to show right now enough love for the current Lego Movies to show them we like them, then they might get back to make more.
I love that the plot twist was completely obvious, but we all assumed that it was just a joke that another character was voiced by Chris Pratt (well, at least I assumed that).
I wish we had gotten more Sweet Mayhem. She needs her own show like Unikitty got with a bunch of other space adventure and more ship like her own! I love the aesthetic!
This movie was such a joy to watch. The music, the acting, the visuals, it was all amazing to witness. Hearing Tuca's(Tiffany Haddish) voice was a nice surprise too.
This movie made me cry so much because it was JUST like how I wanted to play with my brother and his LEGOs. Except instead I mixed in stuffed animals and Pokemon figurines. This movie really brought out all the old nostalgia feelings that I had playing with my brother. Anyway, thanks for giving this movie the good review it deserves!
My brothers and I did that both we mixed all kinds of toys with each other. Our favourites were dinosaurs (and for little brother farm animals) but we mixed them with Lego and Playmobile, sometimes with, cars, Prio Trains and stuffed animals. And on rare occations we even added our Model Trains to the mix. It was grate fun. But we had conflicts too. One of my brothers is two years younger then me and was alway the better builder then me (one time we ran out of pieces because we both wanted to build special houses despite having a whole lot of them) and each of us had one charackter we wanted to be the guy who was the leader of everyone.
What is my opinion on the LEGO movie? It’s a very unique movie that overall has a positive impact on children who watch it. The creativity put into the production of this masterpiece is not easily comprehended, yet its subliminal messages stick with viewers and create a sense of self-worth and importance. The song “Everything Is Awesome”, while it may seem like a meaningless mantra, helps viewers understand the deep messages the movie provides. Emmet’s hilarious personality is a perfect representation of a cliché main character, which in itself, is a portrayal of how perfect the LEGO society is, but at the same time, how variety is necessary for a real society to succeed. Overall, the LEGO movie is a brilliant parable of society and power that can be interpreted as a prediction of the future or possibly a warning to children growing up to be good leaders and be wary of obsession and control.
This was the surprise film so far of 2019 for me. Took my daughter to it as part of a promised double feature on her birthday and both of us came back saying it was better than the first (if not as groundbreaking because they had already done it twice by now). And it wears well. We watched it at the end of a stressful week as a family (all my kids are now teens as of my youngest birthday) and we all loved it. And the message is very much right on, including correcting the lie that everything is always awesome. And between "I'm Queen" and "This Song is Gonna Get Stuck Inside Your Head" two of the best written for a movie songs in recent memory.
this movie made me feel so bad for the way i treated my younger sister back in the day. a lot of people dont realise how startling it is for older siblings to suddenly be getting less attention, and to see the younger sibling get away with things you never could. im glad there are more movies and tv shows that teach kids this message.

Expanding on the Lego world reflecting Finn and his thought processes, Rex is obviously the kind of person he wants to be. He’s a thirteen year old and has put aside the things he used to enjoy, and Bianca does. He’s seen, or at least has a perception of things like Mad Max, Chris Pratt projects and Back to the Future being cool and grown up, because we all wanted to be grown up when we were that age. Finn has taken what he sees as grown up and channeled it into Rex. Once he achieves his character development and lets go of this idea, or at least puts it aside to reconcile with his sister, the embodiment of being grown up that Rex represents is no longer there, and vanishes because Finn, and Emmett, no longer aspire to be that anymore. Adding to that, given Rex’s CV is one continuous shout out to Chris Pratt’s roles, this heavily implies Chris Pratt is an actual actor in the Lego Movie-verse and his works exist within it. Chris Pratt as the voice of Emmett may have come from Finn seeing him in Parks and Recreation, as Emmett and Andy Dwyer share a lot in terms of personality.
Honestly this movie is a good representation of my older brother and I. I would always bug him and get on his nerves, but it was only because I wanted to play with him. And our mom would snap at us a lot.
Personally, I think the "Super Cool" song is catchier than the "Stuck inside your head" song. I'd give it more than one point. Also, you look carefully, the movie could be taken as a comparison and contrast between dark & gritty/depressing action films & optimistic/positive action films with an uplifting message.
5:10 and now that you point out the scratches, noting that Whatevra's about as scratched up as the Apocalypseburg residents, *indicating they're both older toys.* More very subtle foreshadowing that I love. 6:56 and also on the weathering, fingerprints are all over the glass from when it was put together.
I haven't watched this movie yet, but that Pink and Blue aisle hit home. When we were kids, I always wanted to play with Lego and Hot Wheels, but I was rarely ever welcomed by my male cousins. I didn't feel it was all bad, since I had a female cousin closer to my age, who let me build mattress/curtain fort tea houses with her. Also, the boys let me play Spyro. Every year, however, I would ask for Lego; never mind Hot Wheels, because I knew I won't ever get that. The folks and relatives got me Barbies and Polly Pockets to compromise. My younger brother got his Tamiyas, and he was darling enough to let me help build them. Eventually, I got into a drawing/sketching/free-hand lettering phase to take off the building itch. Or I built shiz from whatever easy junk were at home. Or I took all my toys in a backpack and pretended to explore the great outdoors in the compound of warehouses we lived in. And my mom taught me to trim my Barbies' hairs and sew them clothes. I wasn't entirely heartbroken, and I enjoyed the quality time I got with everyone. But I may still be fairly disappointed.
I had mostly the same kind of toys like my brothers (Mother wouldn't even buy me one Barbie) but something stuck with me through my whole childhood. When I went to kindergarten I overheard one of our teachers saying to someone Lego Technic and Fisher Technic was just for "Big boys". So I never even dared to built something with my brother's Lego Technic sets because I thought "that's not for me and I'm too clumbsy anyway and it looks complicated" and I also lost my interest into "Fisher Technic" quickly after that sentence from my kindergarten teacher. -I feel sorry for other girls (and boys of course) who are/were limited when it comes to toys. And I hate that strickt devisiion between boy-thing and girl-things that seems to become stronger and stronger.

that part of when you said it continuously gets destroyed to the point when you have no fun in building alludes to the beginning of this movie when they said that when they kept rebuilding they kept coming back to destroy, which would make alot of sense as to why everything was so gloom
Okay good point but why did you write a whole esay?
@@Kiwi-ph7xsSome people have trouble expressing their thoughts in resumed ways, and sometimes end up taking a little too long to explain themsekves with all the details. I know how it is, I have it sometimes as well.
I love it when movies have siblings who end up getting along in the end! I can relate to that, As a younger sibling my older brother hated me throughout his middle school and the first year of high school- but this was because his school environment sucked and he took out his stress on me (by accident) but when he switched to a better school and started maturing, he’s become one of the best brothers anyone could have
Basically what I’m getting at is:
Sometimes you/they just gotta get older and hopefully in a better place, and if all goes well the years of arguing and bickering will be healed relatively quickly!
I love it.

So you basically talking about REX/Emmet from the future?
But don't you think, in the end, Rex was happy? Not for himself, for Emmet. Emmet was going to live a life where he didn't have to handle that trauma, where he got to stick with his friends. I think, at least a little bit, Rex was relieved that Emmet would live a different path than him.
Que oscuro eres
Rex is literally Emmet from the futurr when he became traumatized and left by his friends. So, when that future altered, Rex technically didn't died. Emmet just not ended up becoming him.

Can't believe you didn't give Watevra Wanabe's impressive fluidity a win. Her movement is just a joy to watch on screen!

Bruce's Best Film of 2019... So sad yet so true.
5:27 I am getting some Master Chief vibes from Rex at this moment

Personally, I think the "Super Cool" song is catchier than the "Stuck inside your head" song. I'd give it more than one point. Also, you look carefully, the movie could be taken as a comparison and contrast between dark & gritty/depressing action films & optimistic/positive action films with an uplifting message.
